[Ace of Spades (Voxel Shooter)] A game that needs more mans
Aw shit yeah lets do this, some Ace of Spades. Voxel powered Team-based CTF with fully destructable/constructable procedurally generated terrain. If you get motion sick really really easy this might not be a good idea but try anyway.
Game Information
Alright so you got the client installed, your in the game, you have 5 items, its foggy, and you want to vomit cause looking down makes you sick. Now What Meta?
Glad you asked, just gonna brief you right here right now right here.
Controls: Simple shit people
Movement: W,S,A,D | Jump: Space | Crouch: Ctrl | Fire: Left Mouse | Ironsights: Right Mouse
Allchat: T | Teamchat: Y | Send Message: Enter | Change Weapon: 1-5, Mouse Wheel
Change Block Color: Arrow Keys | Sample world Color: Right Mouse | Map: M | Scores: Tab
Join Blue Team: B | Join Green Team: G | Volume: +/- Keypad | Quit: Esc
Jump and crouch in the air to get out of the water.
Change your name in the config file.
What now?: CP & Intel
Alright so you got a map, that shit is mad useful, check out this modified map that I personally modified modification so you can tell whats buckets from shit.
You got a Capture Point, that is where you take intel, and receive ammo/health/blocks. Looks a lot like the thing in this picture, almost identical.
The Enemy got some Intel you want, but they want yours so watch out cause they gonna get it. Its usually a briefcase with a colored arrow on it.
Trouble with the Config.ini file on Windows XP:If you are having trouble editing the config, open up Notepad as an Admin first, then open up config.ini in that, and then save it. (Submitted by Marshmallow)
Yeller Belly Bruhaha
Why can't we move our own Intel? This is a concern as to whether or not to be implemented, as it seems allowing players to move the Intel just means they are going to shove it into the corner closest to spawn, but without anyway to recover ground lost, your Intel slowly makes its way into the opponent's CP once they have broken your primary fortification.
Servers are a whole less shitty and the changelog is balls deep, so let me give you a quick skim before dumping the rest.
*There is now auto-climbing, allowing you to walk up surfaces adjacent to you that are one block higher.
*There is a Sub Machine Gun now
*Vote kicking
*Can use custom maps now
Thats all you really need to give a shit about but you can read the rest if you want.

Saw this thread in se++ and decided to try this shit out. Game doesn't even launch on my computer.
Would like to know more about your computer, and what happens when it fails to launch.
Aight, I can do that when I get home. I can't remember my specs offhand really. The game just crashes and throws up a generic "this program has stopped working" message.
ok actual specs now
I'll just post what I can remember for now and edit this later:
Intel Core i7 2.67 processor
6 gigs of RAM
NVidia 460 GTX video card
64-bit Windows 7 OS
Its the raycasting ruining your shit, there is somewhat of a warning in the OP. Took me awhile to get used to how much you god damn sway when you turn and how the world turns to jelly when you look up or down, but dammit I love that shit.
Second I think Windows 7 might be your problem Mega? people had problems with the config file due to running Vista, maybe you can mimic what they did.
Graphics cards shouldn't matter in the least as this game uses software based rendering, but I'm no whiz at this stuff so it'd be great if you could submit your specs to me via PM, and I'll get it to the dev for future consideration. Being the start of public beta testing, its not certain we can get hotfixes or much support to many folks, which is a same, but I do endeavor to collect information from those who can't get things running so hopefully everyone can enjoy AoS sometime soon.
Sorry, I looked around and didn't see anybody having trouble with Vista (there were people having trouble opening the config file on XP). I'm shoot you that pm tho; how much info do ya want?
MegaMek on
Is time a gift or punishment?

This version adds several fixes to Beta 0.1. Also as many of you have found out… the in-game models are easily editable with Ken Silverman’s Slab6 program. In order to allow reskinning the models without comprimising the integrity of play… this new version checks to make sure your player models keep the same dimensions as the original models. Ironsights are also checksummed to prevent cheating, but weapons, tracers, and game objects can be freely modded. Check out this forum thread for some cool model… mods.
Also this version may fix the problems people have had running a server… try it out and let me know if it works.
Finally here is the changelog…

Really this game should play like this http://voxelstein3d.sourceforge.net/ where you can destroy every single voxel. Seems like a waste to just go with minecraft blocks when you are doing that.

I agree completely but how the hell would building shit work

Looks interesting, but I'm getting download not available.
Is the server busy or is the file seriously just gone?

Well you could put blocks down in large chunks like bricks.

Yeah it's just the first level of wolfenstein 3d. It's been around forever though so I'm assuming that's all it will ever be.
Not that I know of. The only thing I can think of that uses Voxels is this.
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 use voxels for their vehicles, rather than sprites or polygonal 3d models. :science: But for the game world? Yeah no idea.

Been tearing it up with loki and a few others from PA, being relatively new its just out there, not enough peeps in this piece.

Alternate answer: ahahaha

Which is unusual, since I normally don't get motion sickness.

client.exe has stopped working on launch.
Phooey.
I never asked for this!
Yeah, I've been getting the same thing. With this newer version too.
You're clicking the application?
Pretty sure the only way it works is if you click Play on the website and choose a server.
No error message now, it just shows up briefly on the process list and then disappears.

The concept sounds great though. Seems like a good candidate for a WW1-themed game, with trenching and the like.
Edit: Yeah, I think I'm not going to be able to play this. Oh well.
