I have an old Saitek Cyborg joystick that I'm thinking of dusting off and trying out Freespace 2. I played the first one and it was cool, but I can't really remember anything about it except for something about shooting down missiles.

On a related note, I wonder if Freespace would be good on an Xbox pad with Xpadder. Seems like you could get the most common controls and commands on there and only occasionally have to use the keyboard.

I still have a number of boxes, especially Ultima IV to Ultima IX (the latter in the Dragon's Edition, i.e. one big fucking box). No way I'm getting rid of those, ever.

It takes a very... special kind of person to enjoy games like Freespace using KBAM.

But seriously while there are some really good suggestions, and Freespace 2 is an incredible, special game, none of them are Blood.

I'm going to go play it right now.

I hope noone is swayed from buying it by that nonsense, alt-R while in-game will toggle between high/low-res

Which country are you living in? GoG remains cheaper than Steam for the Witcher 2 (although it was an even better deal as a pre-order) in the UK, and I think is the same price for the US. I thought it was equally overpriced for both platforms in Europe, due to scummy retailer practices - but you can lie very easily about your region on GoG to get the $50 price anywhere in the world.

And being able to get patches as they are released makes the GoG edition of Witcher 2 far superior to the Steam edition.

I'm tempted to buy Planescape Torment, even though i've never been able to get into it. It isn't that I don't find it interesting, it's that I find it rather hard. More so in fact than Baldur's Gate. Also, i've no idea where to go after i've left the morgue at the beginning. I go outside and i'm like "where the fuck do I go next?"

There's a mod for that. I assume you know about it if you've played BG recently, but the resolution/widescreen mod makes seeing where you're going so much easier. Beyond that, just explore - you can't wander too far, and you'll run into things to do as long as you keep talking to people.

You should also install the fixpack/tweak pack/cut content pack anyway, and I believe one option in the tweak pack allows you to 'rest anywhere'. Meaning that as long as you can survive an encounter, you get all your health back. And set combat to Easy - you're not missing much.

Not rock-solid, but it's supposed to be one of the next three releases. GoG titles release one or two a week, on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. They seem to vary somewhat, but are basically structured around that.

    Best-case scenario, it's tomorrow. Worst-case, it's Thurs 23rd.

DO THIS FIRST. Do not say, "oh, I'll do it after I've gotten a feel for the game".

the game has a nice quirk where if it'll crash if it tries to load an area you've previously been in under an older resolution.

Welp, just set the difficulty to the easiest and, if necessary, cheat.

PST is one of those games worth cheating and abusing just to read and see everything

Yeah it's not like it's a linear game where you have to do everything in order or else nothing works. They leave it up to you for a reason. I'd make some crack about how games these days hold your hand so much that people have forgotten how to wander around but that's not even true because Mass Effect, Alpha Protocol, and other recent RPGs do pretty much open up after the introductory level...

I think it's possible to add it to the GOG version by putting a couple of files in the directory, but well, you'd need the expansion for those files.

They wanted to include it, but there was a licensing issue (as usual).

According to some stuff I read in the Privateer forum in GoG's community you can't add Righteous Fire to the GoG version.

Apparently the GoG version is Privateer Gold with RF stripped out. They had to mess with the exe to do this so dropping in the RF files doesn't work or something.

I'm hoping that they resolve the rights issues and put it in at a later date.

Didn't RF use its own exe anyway?

Anyone have trouble with Freespace 2 where the ship just keeps spinning around and around? I'm pretty sure it has to do with a controller config or something, but I just reinstalled (and added FSOpen etc).
