Why does it say that Zelda 3d mode is for ages 7+? Is the 3d bad for children under 7? Is the action TOO intense? That's a really strange distinction. Great box art though. June will be great with Mercs and Zelda.
I assume because kids 6 and under shouldn't be using 3D as it could be damaging to the development of their eyes.
Amidst fears that Nintendo's new glasses-free 3DS could cause vision problems in young children, the American Optometric Association says the device may actually be useful in identifying vision disorders early.
AOA associate director for health sciences and policy Michael Duenas tells the AP the 3DS "could be a godsend" for identifying vision problems such as amblyopia (a.k.a. "lazy eye") in young children.
...
The AOA's Mark Bochert previously told Gamasutra stereoscopic 3D systems are "not likely to cause any permanent harm to vision."
Do you dudes play with the thumbstick or the d-pad?
The thumbstick is a lot easier to do specials with, but I seem to accidentally jump a lot.
D-pad for charge move characters (Chun, Guile, etc) , thumbstick for everyone else. It's a little tricky not to accidentally jump, but with enough practice you get the hang of it. It's worth it - I find that using the d-pad while pressing trigger buttons often (as I do in SSF4) pretty awkward and cramp-inducing.
Also the 3D really does just make things awesome. Don't think of it like snakes jumping out of a can back in the 90s on TV when you had to drive to Blockbuster to get the stupid red+blue glasses.
It's just that everything has a better depth of field.
The 3D on the 3DS is orders of magnitude better than any 3D I've seen before. The handheld format of the device is perfect. Once you gain a bit of muscle memory, holding it in the perfect spot for the 3D becomes second nature, and you don't even think about it. The fact that you don't need glasses is really just icing on the cake.
I hate movie theater 3D, but a couple weeks with my 3DS has really made me believer.

Finally picked up a decent game and joined the cool kids. Street Fighter 4.
I'm surprised at how good a port this is, only thing I don't like is the backgrounds losing a few cool things like moving spectators and such and the punch button on the shoulder, but this is so minor compared to the fact that they got every character in and the gameplay feels so right.
I hit 100 play coins yesterday, so I went hog wild with the puzzle game and Find Mii. After seven or eight pieces in the puzzle game you start to get a lot of duplicate pieces, so that kind of sucks.

I did smirk when the game first loaded up the 'Exciting Street Scene' level and it was populated by a couple of completely rigid elephant statues and some cardboard standees of people.

Honestly, if they dropped the 3D cam and just made the background characters 2D I would not have minded in the slightest, so long as they look decent.
Just found the "pro" controls, liking it more now.
Speaking of Street Fighter IV, I finally beat the fucking campaign in easy mode.
Seth alone took me an hour. I kept getting so damn close to killing him that I didn't want to give up and go to sleep, and when I finally beat him I was so worked up that sleep was out of the question.
I'm fucking done trying to use the thumbstick. At least if I use the d-pad, I can get my specials out 30-50% of the time instead of 10% of the time.
On SSFIV: Be sure to check out the 2D 60 FPS mode, which you have to enable by going into options and specifically turn the 3D feature off. It disables the 3D slider entirely, but you get an amazingly smooth single-player mode (different from just turning the slider off). The caveat is that all online play is limited to 30 FPS, so lately I've been keeping it at 30 FPS just to practice my timing.
And speaking as a relative newcomer/lapsed fighting game: Yes, the arcade mode single-player is really hard at first. I haven't even done much with arcade mode, to be honest; most of time offline is in the challenge and training modes; and I often just turn on the CPU AI in training to practice against the computer. It gets easier as you become more familiar with specials and combos, both your own and your opponent's.
I had an awesome 50-minute fight rally with an Akuma player named "APPLE" yesterday; I was Ibuki, and we went back and forth for nearly an hour. I won a majority of the games but it was always really close, and toward the end he was changing up his routine for better results against me. It's funny in the hidden language that's embedded in the non-voice chat; after our first few matches that I won, he would hammer on the "Rematch" option as fast as possible, then I started doing the same. One tip I learned is to jump in with my medium kick versus fierce; the reach helped me win a lot of in-air clashes and pre-empt him during specials.
The thing with Seth is you need to find the correct distance to be at where he will use his very punishable kick attack/pull you toward him. It's about 1-2 steps out of his sweep range. Block his attack or pull and sweep him then back up to this distance if he tries to fireball you jump towards him and use Hard Kick to sweep. Repeating this and using a fireball immune ultra or super if you have one makes this fight kind of trivial.
Set for July 14th, probably in Japan. Don't know when it's coming elsewhere.
Can't imagine the game would be hard to localize - I mean, just dump the N64 version's script - you're 99% done :P
Also it occurs to me that Starfox 64 3DS may be the dumbest name since Mario 64 DS :P I vote all future ports/remakes append all previous console names to the end. Ocarina of Time 3D should be "Ocarina of Time 64 Gamecube-twice Wii Virtual Console 3DS".
Edit: This week in the 3D Classics shop:
"Super Mario Bros NES SNES Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance Gamecube Wii plus Wii Virtual Console 3D!"
I thought that they would at least replace the character models with something more spiffy, even the StarFox Adventures models would have sufficed.
The character models are definitely more "spiffy", I think perhaps you are remembering the 64 version too fondly?
Though I've I already bought this game a few times, after playing pilotwings the prospect of playing through it again with 3d is very appealing. The 3d really helps with judging distances, and actually contributes to the gameplay, instead of just being something cool to look at (like SFIV and Ghost Recon, the other two games I have).

I still have the original on the N64 and played it just last week, the models look really bad. Even the DS version of Mario 64 had updated models with better poly counts. The StarFox models look like the older ones in a basic gourand shader.
I should note that I screwed up. It's Starfox 64 3D, not 3DS. Still a bit strange, but not quite so bad.
Edit: And yes, Slippy's running is really bad. Really, really bad.
Starfox III: Starfox 64 - Lylat Wars: 3D (only for Nintendo 3DS)
As was mentioned on Radio Free Nintendo, it would be superb if the game also came with 3D versions of Starfox 1 & 2. They were polygonal 3D, so they're in a very limited number of SNES games that could make the jump convincingly. I'm sure they're being reserved for individual £10 "3D Classics" releases though.

They'll never release Starfox 2 as much as I wish they would

But that's okay because if I'm in direct sunlight there's usually better stuff to do than game.
By this you mean GTFO out of the direct sunlight before you melt right? right?!
I now believe that there needs to be a Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS, solely so that it can have AR trophies.
somebody said nintendo vs. capcom where it's smash bros+the team dynamic from the vs games with a fuckoff huge roster
someone needs to email someone and get this shit going cause dayum
I'm all for it.
Hey, I have a blog! (Actually being updated again!)

yeah while I'm at it I'll cure cancer and bring peace to the middle east
You also need a number of super or ultra finishes. And if you don't lose a single fight you can get to fight Gouken.
Also, any Aussies want a match against someone really really hopeless?

You sure? I thought it was just one perfect. I don't remember ever getting a super/ultra kill when I fought him.

I fixed that for you.
I'm a little sad that they fixed Peppy's run. I kind of liked the way his feet passed straight through his coat.
