Mixed feelings on Deathmatch (like the smaller areas, don't like the fact I'm the sole person. Though using Disguise is MUCH more effective.), and don't really care for Assassinate (I suck at picking my own targets).

Still, even on Assassinate, I came in late and after 2 kills (since I'm not running around on the roofs like a monkey on adderal) I went from 8th to 4th.
And on Deathmatch/Wanted I can still consistently get in the top 3 (still can't compete against that adderal monkey that's got like 14 kills to my 8, even though he's only got 500-800 more points than me).

In other words, I need more dudes like you guys to shank. Mainly so I have decent people to team up with on the team stuff.

As much as I'd like to make a man-stabbings party, with how the party system works right now it makes it difficult without having the group split up. It took my friend and I about 20 minutes just to find a few others, and literally after a few games of Artifact Assault they all left, forcing us to re-do the process. Eventually, we just had one person find a session in progress and had the other join in. With that, we got split up 4/5 games, with pubs that had no idea what they were doing.

ITT: Multiplayer makes playing with friends a chore. I really hope Ubi fixes/changes this, as it stands right now playing Team games is a hassle without members who want to coordinate and/or communicate.

After two fucking mother fucking hours of trying to get the fucking peice of shit tax collector to spawn (this is after 3 hours last night of nothing and 32 hours played of never seeing one...

    One spawns.

As I'm chasing it I get stuck in teh fucking geometry on a pot and can't do a fucking thing. I have to exit to the Island to get unstuck, losing the collector.

Fucking shitty ass fucking game, fuck you.

yeah they improved multiplayer so much this time but still fucked up the party system it seems. it really sucks because playing manhunt with a good coordinated team is awesome, but like you said you have to join by yourself and invite everyone. lame.

Oh, handy. The 100% sync achievement only applies to the actual sequences, nothing else. I unexpectedly got it just now. I thought I'd have to 100% the master assassin missions and stuff like that. I guess all that's left is the Desmond stuff now. And multiplayer.

The fact that there seems to be no actual skill based matchmaking again bugs me.

I still had a lot of fun in the few games I played last night, but it's dishearting to join a game and see 1, 1, 3, 49, 46, 38, 50

You can pretty much guess how the scoreboards are going to look.

Considering the disparity of abilities between those levels, it isn't really fair at all to a new player to be stuck with people so high. You simply can't compete to any meaningful degree.

The problem is that before you have any better method of detecting your target, for a new player this is incredibly confusing.

i'm having difficulty with the '5 kills with hidden blades in 5 seconds'. every method i try, usually involving bombs and jumping in, does not seem to work. does this have to be in a killstreak? because i swear i got two double stabs and then killed the last guy wicked fast, still no achievement.

Here's what I ended up doing for the 5 kills with the hidden blades.
Although it would be considerably easier if you used Eagle Sense while you're doing this so that you can see where they are.

Mildly confusing maybe. At worst their target is wearing a different-colored shirt than in their picture.

The important thing is you need two double assassinations to have any chance of reaching it.

I admit the margin for error is practically nonexistant.

Yeah, you have to have them be doubles or you won't get it. I did pretty much what was in that video and it worked first try. I actually got like 3 achievements at once while doing it but I don't remember which. Killing 3 in smoke and something else.

Don't start your first assassination until you know you have a double lined up and as someone else said you need eagle vision on in order to do it properly. That guy did it without but it's risking wasting your time. Luckily there's the sewer right there and if you travel back and forth all those respawn.

Just make sure you're directing them to an open place. It can get goofy if they're all crowding against the fountain; they get too spread out.

All you should need is a cherry bomb (of any type of powder, aoe doesn't matter for those) and a smoke bomb with the widest area powder. You don't need any other bombs. Though if you're doing mosh pit (which you also do right there), might as well bring some wide area poison bombs. In all instances, like every time you want to use bombs in the game, you want frag shells because there's not much of a point to the others besides novelty honestly.

Worse still is when you've got a group of friends but the game won't let one or two connect for some idiotic reason. If we're specifically inviting a bunch of people into the group, let us deal with the lag FFS. Anything's better than making us sit around waiting to see if one of these days the invite will actually work. Never had this issue with any other game aside from Brotherhood and Revelations. Such a pain in the ass.

So, I've only ever played the first Assassin's Creed and I need to get up to speed on Revelations. Anyone have an approved go-to location for Assassin's Creed lore from 2 up to the new one?

    Have you already bought Revelations?

Because both 2 and Brotherhood are better than Revelations. You're better off playing one of those and reading about this one honestly, if that's the route you're going. Plus they are cheaper.

EDIT: Either way you should be able to just look up their plots on the Assassin's Creed wiki

I had an amusing glitch the other day in the mission where I had to kill a Janissary to take his uniform. You're supposed to kill him and hide his body in a haystack. When I did this, I noticed I was moving really quickly with his body slung over my shoulder, and when I got into the haystack it didn't give me credit. That's when I noticed his body was sort of floating above the haystack.

I got out and realized I could run at full speed while the body sort of bobbed up and down. I was even able to climb a few buildings. I ran in front of guards who didn't seem to care that I was carrying their friend's body. Eventually I had to restart the mission.

I found both AC2 and Brotherhood as well, wasn't sure if I needed to play them first or what. I know with Uncharted for example I started with the sequel and did not regret it at all.

  • SteevLSteevL What can I do for you? Registered User regular
Yeah, Uncharted is like that, but it's highly advisable to play AC2 and its two sequels in sequential order. The story is a much bigger deal.

Revelations itself doesn't have many plot developments, it's a very character-driven story that's meant to be a sendoff to Altair and Ezio. That sendoff will have much more impact if you play the previous two games, which actually do have major plot developments.

oh man, got the lightning strikes chevo, and in a very dramatic fashion too.
i had wandered into a guard camp and climbed up a tall scaffolding. noticed how many guards were there, so tossed down a cherry bomb. about 10 guards formed an almost perfect circle... but it was juuuust out of jumping reach. so i threw the smoke and hopped off, immediately hit my parachute.
i let ezio glide 5 feet, then dropped from the air into a double kill, sprang up and accidentally did a single kill. i spun around and desperately mashed X... and finally got the achievement.
    satisfying.

Double Air Assassinations are always satisfying because of the doppler'd "Shing" noise the hidden blades make. Good job. :^:

    Just finished it.

I loved it I don't even give a shit. I liked the Mediterranean Defense. I liked the Master Assassin missions. I even liked Den Defense. After you win three times you unlock all your troops and I am wrecking faces. Like I'm just going around renovating and picking fights just to get one of my dens attacked.

In multiplayer Manhunt is my game. I'm decent at offense, getting really good at LoS'ing targets around corners or rooftops. But defense.....oh man. Oh man I can hold my own in defense. Mute/Smoke Bombs. Stun stun stun!

Got to enjoy some AssBro MP this morning, got into two matches of wanted pretty quickly, lots of level 1s abound. Starting to get the hang of it but I'll enjoy it better on my other comp with 360 controller in hand.

Really glad I didn't overhype it for myself. 8->

Now I just have to figure out how to properly add it to Steam for the overlay if nothing else.

What's the best game mode for earning XP in multiplayer? I want to get to level 20 in the shortest amount of time for the trophy. I am absolutely terrible at the multiplayer in this game. Most of my kills will only be worth 100-250 so I want a mode where I can maximize my XP gains in other ways, because I sure as shit don't get much XP for shanking dudes. I end up stunned and humiliated more often than not.

Also, random side note, but the Perk/Skill progression in this game is utter bullshit. It takes way too long to get the decent skills. The casual player who only plays a match her and there doesn't stand a chance against the people who play hours on end, because they have all the smoke bombs and throwing knives and good stuff, meanwhile I'm stuck with shitty shit like Closure.

Read the "general and advanced" section at the bottom of the OP. I know I wrote all of that based on the MP in Brotherhood but I'm sure most, if not all, of it translates over to the sequel.

Yeah, don't run around on the roofs looking for your target. You are a hunter, stalking your prey through an urban wilderness. It's a MUCH slower pace multi then most people are used to. Walking towards your opponent instead of running will net your kills around 300 points. if you're Incognito and/or focused that's more points as well.
