In AC2, the Minerva hologram talks to Ezio; there's definitely two-way communication. The hologram does say "when I died", so some amount of brain-copying-into-machine went on.
Trying to find a decent AssBro ending video that doesn't have a dude talking over it.
Grumble. This one plays without a voice-over, but they skip past all the running about and Juno talking. And you're right - Juno definitely takes control of Desmond.
Yeah, the end part is basically full on Cloud in FF7. They say to push a button to stop it, but it doesn't stop it.
I would say I was mad, but they hadn't done enough work on Sarah Marshall to get me super invested, sad to say.
But anyway, so I'm guessing personality AI a la Portal 2 and Halo. TOWCB were certainly advanced enough to have created something like that.

Not that I expected it to work, but I'm kind of annoyed anyway. Just seems like there should be some way - command line, console command, futzing with files - to replay specific levels. If only for debugging purposes. I'm fairly happy there's no in-game option to replay the Desmond sections. It isn't supported by the premise.

Yeah, I mean, when people are regularly asking in the thread if they should play AC1/2/B/R or just jump in at a certain game... I mean, dang. Some of those are major spoilers for both the frame story and the Ezio story.
Picked up a lot near the ending, and then fell completely flat. If I didn't only pay $15, and AC3 wasn't out in a week I may have disliked that game a good deal.
Luckily that ain't the case. I'm just happy I don't have a wait a year to pick up the story again.

Yes, you only get to experiance it for the first time, one time. Coming back to something may be more enjoyable, but the thrill of discovery is something you only get once.
It's an article that's been kicking around for awhile, about a study. It's interesting, and I happen to agree with it, but that might be because I'm sick of people constantly whining about SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!! for every goddamn thing under the sun.

It was also a study done on a small group reading short stories. You can agree with it but it's just about as scientifically relevant as me saying all cats love water because my cat one time got in the shower with me.

This isn't every little thing however, it is the ending to a game that people in this very thread are playing for the first time and you not caring makes you the highest of geese. Why should what you care about matter to a higher degree than what they do? Besides that, by even posting here you agree to abide by the rules and one of the top is don't be a dick. Just the attitude you put behind that statement sounds like pure dickery.

You’re right, I do have a dickish attitude about spoilerphobes. When every. Little. THING. Is considered a “spoiler,” it’s really annoying.
However. I do agree that people shouldn’t just run into a thread screaming ending spoilers for a game. Especially a game with a story that people take seriously. Or at least want to be entertained by.
I’ve read about that study, and I agree with it, from personal experience. I tend to avoid massive, life-changing spoilers for movies/books/games/music(?), but I’ve become comfortable with knowing stuff and realizing that, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. And, if knowing what the SPOILER was was the only thing that would let you enjoy it, it probably wasn’t worth it. And I’ve discussed the study with friends and they’ve had positive experiences from knowing the spoilers, too, but this is just a stupid study I ran like one afternoon some day or some crap.
But that’s me! And I don’t have a shitty attitude about people not wanting story spoilers. I understand that. I was mostly having a run at the dismissive tone of oh, some bullshit study that I don't agree with.
And also people who bitch that there’s a tomahawk in the game (spoiler alert). Awww, man! I wanted to play the game to find that out!
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood came out two years ago. I understand the desire to experience contently freshly, but if that's the case then really you shouldn't be on a forum to begin with. Spoilers are just that prevalent and no amount of modding can fix that.
So, while I won't be blabbing about the ending out of Brotherhood out of respect for those who haven't played it. I'm not going to spoiler stuff like Mario's death (which happens in the FIRST real stage), and other things that people have been discussing openly and without tags for months now.
When serious AC3 spoilers hit, I'll likely go dark until I finish it.

Yeah, the statue on general game spoilers seems to be until the sequel hits. And big deal plot twists should always be hidden imo. What's the fun of a plot twist when you know it's coming? :P

Next you'll be telling me stalwart Benedict Arnold betrays his countrymen!
Poor guy really did get the short end of the stick. If he'd been a little less prideful he would have been remembered as one of the Revolution's greatest heroes.
Whatever, I spoiler tagged a bunch of stuff now. I do think there's such a thing as a statute of spoiler limitations. Otherwise the thread is all tags, forever. Not against tagging spoilery stuff from the new version, but two versions back? I mean, if you intend to play 3, this stuff WILL be told to you. So either skip this thread or go catch up...
(My bro got mad at me for "spoiling" Star Wars Episode 3 for him. This was before it came out and I was talking about the inevitable lightsaber fight over lava that leads to Darth Vader. He got really pissed at me for 'spoiling' that that was how it was going to happen. After a few minutes of confused silence, I pointed out that my source for this information was George Lucas... in the 1980s.)
The ending of Brotherhood is not as culturally prevalent as something like The Empire Strikes Back (which anyone nowadays is going to learn through cultural osmosis rather than seeing the actual film), two sequels have hit, sure, but we're talking about a yearly franchise here, it is a game where the story is something that is highly regarded, and it takes like all of two seconds to spoiler tag something
Why do you care if there are spoiler tags everywhere? If you're up to date with the series, you're free to, you know, click to your heart's content
I don't think it is nice or fair to spoil one of the big reveals of a game right before its sequel hits. Especially when there are probably a lot of people buying and playing the previous games for the first time this week.

Yeah, bitching about learning the main weapon being a spoiler when it is displayed prominently on the box would be seriously annoying. I apologize if I came off strongly there, didn't see you were joking. I am pretty much against major story spoilers (especially ending ones) and have been ever since my brother came home from watching Sixth Sense at the theater and totally ruined the ending. He was also a complete dick about it. I've never even watched the movie because of that.
Anyhow, seriously pumped for this game and Liberation. Just got an email from Gamestop that my copy was in... and to pick it up Tuesday.

I think the coolest little touch I've seen is how the hidden blade is detachable from the mechanism. Lets them to some awesome knife/tomahawk animations without being tied to a blade that can only jab forward, palm out.
FreiA French Prometheus UnboundDeadwoodRegistered Userregular
Yeah, that's pretty cool. The hidden blade is so iconic to the series and a neat idea, but after several games it got a bit stale so it's awesome that they're rethinking it a bit.
Also, I saw some new screenshots of Liberation from someone who has the game at neogaf and it looks really good in game. really excited for it.
Yeesh. Tough crowd. I haven't even gotten to the end of Brotherhood. I'm the victim here!
At this point though I'm probably just going to hit up a wiki or a video or something. Then it's a swift 2 week blackout from the thread whilst I play and then maybe a quick look to see the progression of everyone else. Pretty typical for story-heavy stuff.

Can someone explain the castle building mechanic of AC3 to me? I understand it's going to be there, but i don't know the specifics. That is the best part of every game that has it for me. I love me some castle/town building!!!
Okay so I've been playing AC3 since yesterday and wow, I was highly sceptical about the game, but to my big surprise the execution is flawless and the writing probably the best so far in the series. Fair warning: The game does not at all start out the way you expect it to and it's very likely that reviews are going to go into that, so if you really want to be surprised you might want to stay away from even those.

So my original PS3 YLOD a few weeks ago, I ordered the AC3 bundle with the new superslim, and I see there are bundles for certain retailers again (ugh). I ordered it from Amazon, does anyone know if the bundle comes with any of the vendor specific DLC or am I SOL in that regard?
