Big Boi why are you repping Jon friggin' Snow when you are rapping about Game of Thrones

I've pretty much just been listening to schoolboy q lately. I have both albums and his mixtape in a Spotify play list and just damn so much good music out of that dude
Man of the Year is still my favorite song on oxymoron I think

I didn't like Man of the Year much at first but its grown on me. My favorite is probably "Fuck L.A." though.
Overall I really liked Oxymoron, I know a lot of people talk mess about it because they were expecting something more introspective a la Kendrick(but seriously...Q is a gangsta rapper so I don't know why people thought that would be the case).
That said I think the album has a good mix of turn up music and more thoughtful stuff. I've been using it in my exercise regimen for the last few weeks.
I wasn't really expecting anything introspective from Q
If anything I was expecting less introspective stuff
I just think it's not really that great. A lot of the tracks are kind of bare bones, which I guess is what he was going for but it doesn't really work for me. Also Studio is probably the worst Black Hippy track I have ever heard.
That being said It's a really strong album up until the rote as fuck 2 Chainz feature. Pity that's only the first fifth of the album

Yeah, I'll agree with Studio.
Studio is such an obvious "radio" song that I skip it every time.
Not to mention the lyrics are lazy and it doesn't really mesh with the rest of the album at all.

For oxymoron in particular, it has this really haunting vibe and all the beats are like this hybrid of house and drum n bass and it's really ethereal and cool especially when you're really stoned in the dark with really nice headphones
It's my least favorite of his three works so far, habits and contradictions being my favorite but I still really like it.
And man of the year just goes so fucking hard when you hear it with the right equipment

I have come to the conclusion that the general consensus is "Hip-Hop is Dead, Long Live Hip-Hop."

I feel Man of the Year has a much more consistent energy.
man of the year and hell of a life are probably my two favorites
the album just sounds so sinister, like this feels like the album a villain would make, i love it i won't front
but that's also partly because i get really into artists i really like and like them as people and as artists
like i could write essays on my love for kanye west
