We are one of the biggest guilds on the server and we were like the third to reach lvl 25. You don't just get in you have to go through an interview process. We're not a raiding guild but we do raid; there is probably six different 10 mans going on. We have get togethers in RL; I went out to Vegas a couple of months ago to personally meet some of these internet dragon killers and hang out.
And the bosses nip drama square in it's ass.
One of the raiders ragequit their raid last night for whatever reason, not my business so I didn't ask (said person is a tool, but whatever). Within just a couple of minutes before anything got a chance to rear its head said person got all of their characters gkicked. By no less than three different bosses.
Well fuck, then there have only been 2 new heroics this entire xpac if we're looking at theme,
That's lost city and VP. Everything else is basically the same theme, someone bad is doing something in a dungeon and you have to go stop them. Shit, Stonecore and BRC look identical to me at times and I doubt I could even tell you which end boss in there was which.
I know I'm speaking in hyperbole here, but it's pretty clear that the theme of this xpac is about changing what we already thing we know. We're fighting Rags again. Old leaders are gone, things in the world are changing, but old threats still remain. Bringing back the trolls right now actually makes sense, as they're pretty much silent during the shattering from a racial lore perspective, them and the gnomes. Everyone else is getting a shake up, so why not the trolls?
The theme has ever been the same: stop the bag guys from doing bad things in their bases.
I just don't get why it would suck if they just revamped all of the old 10/20 player content to be do able in 5 mans, if it's in the vein of ZG. (Fuck ZA that one sucked). Here's where our opinions differ--and that's not a bad thing at all--if they gave me 5 man AQ, KZ, etc... I'd be pretty damn happy. Heroic scholo? eh, maybe. Let's see firelands, I hear that's going to be new.
I am just hoping that the legendary staff doesn't require your guild to run heroic modes. I know its legendary, but the fact that its going to require a whole guild helping should be enough, to limit its "availability".
I think there are like 2 guilds that run heroic raid content on my server, one that has cleared all of it and another 25 man that is like 2/13. This is on the alliance side.
I understand that high end raiders get to see content that most people don't, but for something that takes a whole guild's involvement, I think it would be fair just to have it doable through normal raiding.
Granted, one expansion isn't a whole lot of precedent, especially since they were still 25-man only then, but the WotLK legendaries didn't require doing heroic modes to get them. I think you might have had to do Yogg with 3 keepers up instead of 4 to complete Val'anyr, but the fight wasn't really classified as "heroic mode" until you dropped to 1 keeper.
I would suspect you won't have to do heroic modes to be able to complete the staff. What they'll probably do (since it was the case with both the WotLK heroics) is have heroic mode kills drop more of whatever shard pieces you're collecting for that part of the quest.

It worked pretty well with Shadowmourne; Heroic kills had double the chance to drop fragments of normals? Something like that. More casual guilds could still get one, more hardcore guilds could collect several.
Since 4.1 there's something goofy with my pvp queues. half the time when they pop the "enter" window will pop up but clicking the buttons does nothing. When I go and click the mini-map icon whatever bg that has popped won't even show up, it'll just show the secondary one twice. There's nothing I can do to enter the battleground.
If I log out and in it does nothing. I've disabled all my addons and it still happens.
Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?
It's really fucking irritating to wait 20 minutes for a queue and not be able to enter it. I need to finish these stupid damn childrens week achievements.

Sounds like an addon issue but you disabled them all, so I dunno. I'd open a GM ticket on it.
Edit: Do some research also - there may be a script command to join. Might at least be a temporary work-around.
It seems like at some point recently, when my "join BG?" window pops up, I'll click enter, and it will sometimes do nothing, and I'll have to click it a couple more times before the game seems to understand what I'm telling it to do. But I've never had it go on indefinitely until my join timer runs out.

I've looked around and nothing recent fits the bill. I found a few threads from last fall that sound like the exact issue I'm having but there was never any blue comment or any solution/work-around.
It seems to only happen when I queue for two bg's at a time. When i just queue for one I don't think I've had the issue at all.
But when I queue for two, what will happen is what I described; if the second bg pops when I'm in the join period for the first queue it also is dicked up; but if there's a delay between the two, I can usually join the second queue whenever it pops up.
I've also noticed on the characters this happens on (it never happened on my 85s, only my 82s), after I get a queue dickup, sometimes if I take a Flightpath I'll just randomly be ported to the nearest graveyard and off the flight. I'll randomly get messages about the battleground ending due to lack of players, or "your party has left the queue", the latter I think is just me missing the queue, but the first seems to be related to the graveyard thing, like the game thinks I went into a BG, but none exists and it just goes haywire.
As I said, I've turned off all my addons and it happens; I've deleted my cache and it happens, and a combination of the two. I am holding off on deleting my wtf folder because I don't want to resetup all my addons.
So has anyone noticed a significant difference in DPS queue times since the patch? For me the times have stayed just as absurdly long but the tanks got worse.

It could be because his gear was bad, but my warrior was getting heroic queues as dps in ~10m or so a couple nights in a row this weekend. I haven't tried since though. I'm not sure if it was because of the weekend or the CTA thing.
All but one I did had a good tank to so...yeah I dunno.
I also noticed that Arms got a nice buff in 4.1. It was actually quite fun to do heroics on my warrior doing great dps with pretty meh gear.
So has anyone noticed a significant difference in DPS queue times since the patch? For me the times have stayed just as absurdly long but the tanks got worse.
DPS queues on my server got a pretty noticeable reduction. The standard was right around 35 minutes before the patch, but I haven't seen a DPS queue over 25 minutes after 4.1. Tank queues are still near instant, and healer queues remain the same at 1-5 minutes.
Since 4.1 there's something goofy with my pvp queues.
I'm having the same issues, even on just a random queue sometimes. I haven't reported the issue or anything because it's the same exact thing that happened in 3.9. Something got reverted in a bad way. Blargh. For reference, I have zero add-ons.
So my current server horde side (which I'm on) has almost no heroic bosses down in any dungeon and every guild that makes it to downing Nefarian breaks apart is horribly. I want to transfer but I'm not sure if my girlfriend who also plays is up for doing that. So what can I do?
If end-game raid content is your goal, then gauge her interest in server transferring to achieve that and start shopping servers. And don't use site like WoWProgress or similar to try and get a good idea of server activity, server pop and progress are not always a good indicator of average activity or success.

Drop a few hundred and transfer all the characters at the same time and see if she notices.

HMaloriak isnt that bad. First real night on him and we got him to 2% because of priest dying to blue bubble during hymm..... grr
did they nerf it in the patch because its not bad?
Agreed. Second real night and we killed him last week. And this week we pretty much 3 shot him. Though he was being a giant pain in the ass, first refusing to spawn a set of adds before black phase (if he doen't spawn one, we just run out to reset it), and then on one attempt he started spinning around while casting Magma Jets and wiped us at 200k...
We also got Heroic Magmaw on our first ever real attempts tonight!
Also, Chimaeron hasn't dropped a single tanking ring in 14+ kills (nor V&T a helm)...
Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the servers? When I log in it's giving me the server list with everything in red, and when I choose my server it disconnects me immediately o_O
Edit: Nevermind, just caught the rolling restart I guess.
Whaaaaaat the hell hahahahha. Server restarts while I'm playing. wait a few mins and try to log in. Patch required click here to restart game and install patch bla bla bla. Clicks... and my Need for Speed game opens and starts patching. WTF?!?
My guild would be awesome if we ever raided with more than 22 people, ha. Kill throne and ascendant council, tried a few attempts at cho'gall but didn't have the dps #'s so we switched to Al'Akir so we would have an idea of what to expect from the fight. It is a pretty interesting fight. The first few attempts didn't last very long but our last one of the night lasted 6 minutes. Not bad for a 25 man consistenting of 5 healers and 15 dps [2 tanks].
WTB dps and a healer. I think we may keep our lockout id's and try heroic chim / regular al'akir next week. I sort of hope so at least. I guess it mostly depends on if we can field a full team. They refuse to pug people which I kind of like.
Oh, the datamined Priest 4 piece is hilarious: You have a chance when you cast a helpful spell to summon a Cauterizing Flame. Friendly raid and party members can use the Cauterizing Flame to be instantly healed for 4625 to 5375. Lasts for 45 sec sec or 10 charges. After using the Cauterizing Flame, players cannot benefit from it again for 10 sec.
It's already being called "Firewell" on the Priest forums.
Well, considering how ridonculous the Druid 4set is, I'm pretty sure these are going to be modified before going live.
As it is, Blizzard's refusal to budge on Lightwell reminds me of some of the Development dialogues from Magic: The Gathering (Mark Rosewater, specifically) wherein the lead developer there discusses how sometimes, even if you really like a mechanic, think its flavorful, good for the game, and enjoyable--that doesn't matter if the playerbase just refuses to play with it.

I like how useful they have made Lightwell in Cata, but it's still a pain in the ass to click on sometimes. I mean, when Priests put it under a large boss, half the time I get the boss's big-ass hitbox instead. This is particularly annoying as melee (at least ranged don't generally need to adjust their camera to even see it).
So the theme of this tier is additional fire damage added with set bonuses.
I'm going to laugh so hard if they turn around and make a lot of the mobs/bosses in the new raid resistant or flat out immune to fire damage.
It would be funny!
But i thought Blizzard stated they will no longer make mobs "immune" to a class of magic.
I remember mages being pissed when they had to go frost because of this mechanic.

There are still mobs out there that have immunities to certain elements though. I haven't seen anything specific in Cata content, but they were still adding those mobs in WotLK (see also, the frost immune elementals in Borean Tundra).

I would catagorize that as user error and not implementation error.

Eh, it's design error - they created something that involves clicking that may or may not be clickable depending on common circumstances (i.e. large bosses)
There is also rarely a good place to put the thing for melee. Either it's on the boss's ass and unclickable, or it's behind him and we have to swivle our camera around just to see it.

Wow, those new PvP mounts in 4.2 are impressive looking, so much so that it will almost be painful to see how they stick out against the other Worgs/Horses in the game currently.

Okay, wow. This is definitely my new favorite thing from 4.2:
Flintlocke's Woodchucker
Requires Level 80
Item Level 85
Use: Attaches a permanent device to a bow or gun that sometimes launches a rabid critter, dealing additional damage to the target and increasing your Agility by 300 for 10 sec.
Attaching this scope to a ranged weapon causes it to become soulbound.
