Well, Hyperion is the provider of the New-U, Catch a Ride, and fast travel system right? That's some pretty advanced stuff, it's not a big stretch to assume it's based on Eridian tech.
There was some unused audio released a while back that confirmed that Hyperion did get some alien tech. Or it was like, everyone knew but there was no official confirmation or something. The audio was of I think Tannis just giving the player some backstory, I guess they decided not to use it because it might have gotten in the way of the wanton murder or something.
So I beat the game. It says I'm on playthrough 2. So what do I do? Is it just finishing up the remaining quests or is there more?
You're basically in Borderlands: Nightmare Mode. Higher enemy levels, more awesome loot, same damn quests and shit.
Oh wait I see now. You have to leave the first playthrough first. I thought it would just start again automatically or have some in game option. They don't make that very clear. :P

Yeah, it's a little weird that each character save effectively becomes two saves.
Someone help me understand rocket launcher, is the damage listed only if the rocket hits the target? How does splash damage work? I have this really nice rocket launcher but my shotgun does way more damage even though its max multiplied out damage is less than the damage on the rocket launcher. I have tested this thoroughly. It just feels like rocket launcher are quite weak.

Is it just a plain jane rocket launcher? No elemental or red text or anything? Then it's probably crap, regardless of the stats.
Rocket launchers can't crit, which means that even with huge damage stats they still can't keep up with any weapon that can.
But if you end up with an Incendiary launcher or a mongol or a nidhogg or most of the other specials they are totally serviceable weapons. Some are absolutely ridiculous in the amount of fire they can lay down.
Elemental launchers, for example, always come in x4 and their elemental mojo procs on every attack. That means you're laying down huge areas of guaranteed DoT in addition to the weapon damage, which is multiplied because of the x4 elemental.
And the special launchers all have some unique firing spread that when put to proper use makes them ridiculous. Mongols fire literal hordes of missiles, and if they're elemental can lay down huge swaths of DoT and elemental damage. Nidhoggs are the highest damage weapons in the game if you shoot over your target and let the airborne burst slam them from above.
But just the regular, non-elemental launchers? Crap. Regardless of stats.
4x fire but just fires one rocket. Has some orange text as well, lights enemies on fire for a while. The explosions is a mushroom cloud which is the main reason I still use it.
Maybe it was because I had heard the (anti)hype and prepared myself, but I wasn't disappointed by the end of the main quest. I thought it was pretty good, actually.
Knoxx, however, is pissing me right off, with it's bugginess, framerate drops, and single outpost.
There is quite a lot of backtracking in Knoxx. The vehicles sort of make up for it, especially in multiplayer (having a whole team of four in the hands of a single Lancer driver is a bad idea... by bad idea, I mean BEST idea *grin*).
As far as Framerate drops, if you are playing the PC version, dig into the .ini files and turn off dynamic shadows. Yeah, that means you won't have pretty shadows, but in return, your framerate will be as smooth as silk in the problem sections of Knoxx.
Here's my earlier post on the subject:
If you get huge framerate drops in General Knoxx (on the roads leading out from T-Bone Junction, for example), it's probably due to Dynamic Shadows. Unfortunately, there are no in-game options to turn this off, but there is a line in one of the .ini (I think it's BaseEngine.ini in the Engine\Config\ folder) files to do so. You can also lower the shadow size, which may help, but probably not by much. The game went from "playable but at 20 fps" to buttery smooth in the problem sections. I'm not really missing the shadows, either.
This is for the Steam version. For the regular disk version, I think the ini files are in My Documents\My Games\Borderlands

I would practice indirect firing it, then. Aim at the ground around your target's feet, that way if you overshoot it'll still catch them in the blast.
So my brother and I beat General Knoxx, and decided to give Crawmerax a whirl...I have no idea how in the hell people can beat this guy legitimately, let alone the people who beat him solo, and I play a siren and have watched the video..I just don't get it..I get raped constantly. I just can't juggle the damn worms, Crawmerax himself, and the stupid spit he does.

Yeah, I found your post on it earlier, and that helped out. Knoxx still felt more like a chore than anything else I had encountered in the main game, though. A bit disappointed there. Fighting Skag riders and former prison inmates was pretty awesome, though. And the actual character of General Knoxx was great.
I'm on to the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned now, and I'm enjoying it so far. The game really handles slow(ish) zombies in a great way, I think. Not a real threat on their own or in small groups, but once you start fighting they start swarming in from all over the place, and if you underestimate the things, you can find yourself really overwhelmed and in trouble.
Who knows if that feeling will last, though. I feel like slogging through hordes of zombies to get anywhere could get tiresome kind of fast.
That does suck. Combined with the crazy long and intense slow effect, the Defilers are a bitch. I think they would be just as effective -and less annoying- if they didn't blind you, or at least didn't blind you totally with one hit. An effect like the mudmen in L4D2 would have been nice, where the first attack just puts a barely noticeable smear on your screen, and subsequent effects cover your vision more and more. That would have felt more fair to me.
While I'm here I gotta give another shout-out to Talkc, who gifted me the game during the last sale. He is truly a gentleman and a scholar. We played together once for a few hours, which kind of put me through a crash course in the game, since he and the other three guys definitely knew their way around the game more than little old fresh-off-the-bus me.
Well, since any given pack of zombies will have at most 2 defilers, it's not much of a problem. Just keep moving and get rid of the defilers first. Head shots are still best shots. Either that, or Fire element.
Killing zombies does get old, and even more so when going for the Brains! chain of quests. Especially since you have to turn in the quest to progress through each part of the chain. I did it once on a single character, and I don't think I'll ever run it again.
Dudes you guys wound me. The zombie expansion is like, the best thing when you just want to sit down and tear the life out of shit with whatever you weapon of choice is. Whenever I have like, 30 minutes to Borderlands Dr. Ned is where I go to blow off some steam.
And if you're getting blinded all the time you might want to consider using guns. The game has a few.
Like I said earlier, I am enjoying this DLC, and all the zombies are great. Getting blinded and almost completely immobilized at the same time is annoying though, no matter how rarely it happens to me.
So my brother and I beat General Knoxx, and decided to give Crawmerax a whirl...I have no idea how in the hell people can beat this guy legitimately, let alone the people who beat him solo, and I play a siren and have watched the video..I just don't get it..I get raped constantly. are you using the right weapon ele effect vs the color worms?
green ~ fire
purple ~ acid
larva ~ lightning or just regular bullets will work, but not great?
if you dont have x3 eles at least i suggest going and trying to gear up with claptrap boxes (its boring but most effective)
also if you dont have extended skill points you are going to have problems too
I just bought the game from Amazon, and I got a bloody german version so I can't understand the manual.
Is it correct that I can't carry any medical equipment to heal myself with, but enemies can?
I ask, because the only time I managed to heal myself is when I specifically find a medical-whatever-it-is on the ground while I'm hurt and then it gets used instantly... if I'm fine, my character will refuse to pick it up, even though it just dropped of someone who obviously was able to carry it.

Those are insta-heal kits, which heal you as soon as you pick them up or buy them and are often dropped by enemies. If you're at full health, you won't be able to use them. You can also buy normal health kits that you can carry around from vendors or occasionally find them in lockers, but they're usually not worth it. Each character gets a way to quickly regain health through their special ability eventually.
On another note does anybody know where in Knoxx the Eterian Warrior class mod is likely to spawn?
I'm referring to things like how the Devastators tend to drop Ogre class mods. Is there anything of the sort for those of us who don't want to think about ammo?
The loyalty mods were patched to not disappear, at least according to some posts on the borderlands forum.
I haven't found one myself so I can't test it to be sure, but considering there are guides for using loyalty mods I think they're safe.
I just found out I'd been doing armory runs soooo sooo wrong, I was only getting half the chests. slightly disappointing it just means more runs.
I think the main thing they could add to the game is a separate button to use med kits. It's so damn annoying that you have to open up your inventory and select it... Especially in multiplayer.
This game is really lacking in abilities, kind of dissapointed each class only gets one abilities. It would be nice to see more. Also multiplayer lags in a weird way no matter what, I think it is the connection but it makes aiming very difficult compared to something like Counter-Strike.
My friend let me download this from his Gamestop download manager (most horrible thing ever) since he doesn't play anymore but it's an out of date version. Gearbox says to update through the download service you used to get the game. Of course, there are no updates to be found on the gamestop site and emailing the underlying company operating the download manager they gave me the 1.01 and 1.1 patches. The retail patches don't work either as expected. So I still can't update to 1.4.
What, the PC version is up to 1.4? Mac still seems stuck at 1.0.1... I wonder if they are using different version numbers, because it's the GOTY edition with all the DLC...
One thing, though: I asked before but didn't get an answer... how do you with the PC version play online? Is it through Steam or something else? I only see a GameRanger option on the Mac side, and it seems to be a very outdated service.

Considering most FPS don't even get active abilities, just one is fine. The actual skills in the skill tree can effect and change the way your characters behave so drastically that only having one really awesome active ability on top of your modifiable grenades and 4 different weapons is just fine, as far as variety goes.
Never really had any lag issues, either. Unless I was.. well, lagging. Which happens, considering I use a terrible DSL service, but not horribly often.
at last I found a shotgun worth using on my soldier
a 252x12 Atlas with 2 in the clip, but using a heavy gunner spec it has 5 in the clip -- I was so eager to use it instead of my double anarchy that I simply swore off using SMGs from then on
naturally, to remind me that they're just better, about 30 minutes later I found a Desert Anarchy that was 115x4, 82 clip, 12.5 fire rate.

I just feel like this game doesn't offer anything, its a Diablo 2 close from a first person perspective, except without all the cool armor and only 1 ability per class. I feel like I am missing something since this game was so popular.
I'm not sure how to explain it. I found the humor engaging, I found the art style very catchy, and the whole package was just wholly interesting and different. It's great to experiment with different builds and try out different flavors of guns.

Because I just did it with my 69 Brick and everything here is mid to high 50s. I don't think it was always that way.
