Okay, I've pretty much had it up to here with Live, but I'm really thinking it could be on my end, so I'm asking for assistance here.
Live will drop out randomly for me at times. Sometimes I'll stay connected for hours...other times I'll have to keep reconnecting through the guide button and can't even get through a match of DJ Hero 2.
I know it's not my Internet connection, as my Mac, PS3, iPhone, etc. all operate flawlessly without any dropped connections. However, my 360 is the only thing in the apartment that's wired. Could that be the problem? Is it possible this is coming from damage in the wire somewhere, or could I need a shorter one? I'm currently using a 50-foot ethernet cable because it's the only one I had previously lying around.
Barring a physical connection problem, is there some sort of setting on the 360 I can alter to make for better connections?
I don't have an extra one lying around and thus have to go buy one...sigh...I was kinda hoping it would be maybe something you entered into those Xbox Live connection settings in the system settings menu (I have no clue about all those numbers).
Do you have your ports forwarded on your router for xbox live?? If not go to www.portforward.com and then choose the type of router you have, then find xbox live in the huge list of apps. It will explain in detail what you need to do. I can't explain why its dropping you other than hard ware (ie cat5 cable) but i can tell you that if you don't have the ports forwarded correctly and you have a nat type 3 router its going to give you connection issues. I had to forward them on my router. Also don't forget you have to set a static ip on your xbox. I would google it if you don't know how. I could explain it as a last resort but it would be easier on me and you if you looked it up on google. And portforward.com might have a section on explaining static ips. Not really sure though cuz i havent looked into it. I just know how its done.
