TF2 not launching

Hey guys, having trouble launching TF2. I uninstalled it in Dec when it was working fine and reinstalled it yesterday. Now, it won't work. When I try to launch it I get the steam thing "preparing to launch TF2", then that window disappears, I get the little blue circle by my mouse meaning the computer is doing something and then it just stops. I don't even get to the intro screen of the game. I've verified the files once and it found nothing wrong, so I reinstalled and same thing. I have a bunch of crash files in my TF2 folder but I don't know how to read them- notepad gives me gibberish. Halp plz!
