So I'm strongly considering quitting LoL. I want to see Riot make obvious progress in some or all of these areas with whatever patch accompanies Season 2 for me to stay around:
The big three for many people:
1) Replays
2) Observer mode
3) Tribunal
Other stuff which still really needs to be worked on:
4) Game interface upgrades/fixes (examples: allowing you to customize recommended items in game, better item purchasing interface in general, better minimap, team health bars actually update accurately)
5) Client upgrades/fixes (examples: clan support, bug fixes, more rune pages, better champ select like saving summoners for each champ, etc)
6) Increased limitations on available champions in ranked play (examples: not allowed to use recently released champions, more bans, some champs out of play for the course of the season, etc)
7) Server fixes! SERVER FIXES
8) Better support for/promotion of competitive team play! Why the hell is solo ranked the only ranked that matters? (example: Weekly automated tournaments with RP prizes which you can qualify for based on your ranked arranged 5s rating)
I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of.
Game feels like it's still in beta, maybe even alpha, and I need some evidence that Riot actually cares about doing more to improve it both in general and particularly as an eSport. Right now it seems like they only care about selling champs/skins and tweaking game balance.
Mastery pages, rune and mastery pages per champion, and how about they fix the fucking sorting algorithm in the store that is an intro to computer science exercise what the fuckkkk
Ryadic, I could fix the sorting in the store in a day. My first day at the company.

Is the biggest reason for LoL being huge and HoN only being big (I think?) still the "HoN has an entry fee and LoL is free" thing?

yup
If I could make LoL disappear forever tomorrow I would
then I might be able to convince my friends to play HoN
LoL has a lot of good ideas but their execution and polish is shit.

Also HoN champs are all gigantic pillars of bullshit
And LoL is so much fucking easier to pick up and play because you can quickly look at the screen and tell what's going on without being some sort of wizard

That's one thing I don't like about Nocturne. The giant screen shit and sound effect. It's cool the first time, but after that it's just annoying. And God forbid we ever have multiple characters with that effect. I think a general rule of "would this ability still be cool if every player in the game was this champion" is a good idea. It's like the golden rule for champions, and it holds up pretty well at identifying dumb mechanics.
10 Malphites? Kind of boring but it'd be fine.
10 Gangplanks (pre-nerf)? Oh god no deny is terrible.
10 Tristanas? Well, that'd be some crazy stuff but still good.
10 Nocturnes? Oh god, it'd be nothing but screens going dark and that ult noise everywhere.

It was pretty weird for me when my friends all started playing LoL while I was in the HoN beta.
I tried out LoL for the first time with them and immediately thought "omg, babbie's first moba!".
It's grown on me though and now I play it with my group from time to time. I don't really take it seriously though. I'm not a fan of reading up on strategies and so on, I just blast things with my Lux laser.

I am a social gamer so I play this game because many of my friends either legitimately can't afford HoN or are super fucking cheap
man, I'm getting worse at this game the more I play it.
Dude, don't be so negative. Haven't seen you post a lot so I'm guessing you're new. You may not be getting worse, your opponents might be getting better instead!

I don't agree with this reasoning. A champions worth should not be determined by a literally impossible fantasy scenario.
Nocturnes ult remains neat for me because I like variety.

It's mental shorthand for trying to decide if it's a good design decision. Like, 5 years from now when this game has 300 champions, would you be okay with 10 of them having global ultimates? Or global screen-effects with sound effects?

Everyone knows the best 5v5 would be all Garens vs Garens.

Everyone talks about the shit community, but I've found that when I solo queue most of my teammates are pretty nice, even if they're not necessarily good.

Red for horror. You lying bastard! :P You read up on a guide to stick with one build for every game! Hahahah. I love you man
So riot has that much money and still uses the shitty pvp.net client? That's cool.
In other news I am loving trundle and I think I made the right choice picking him over Rumble. At the moment I'm doing a build along the lines of madres, boots of mobility (I think the mercury treads are better but I like the faster movement through jungle) and then go into last whisper/frozen mallet. But this is probably a terrible idea.
hon's characters might be bullshit but man if they aren't cool
also hon has new game modes which should be the easiest thing ever for riot to do
didn't they say they'd come out with normal draft in some red posts forever ago? how fucking easy is it to do that? i mean they should've had a normal draft option the day they implemented draft into ranked. copied and pasted that shit. my goodness
i want some of the hon game modes in LoL. all engineer. all mid. the modes where multiple people can pick the same dude are hilarious
what kinda builds are the thing with alistar now? i tried AP last night, but didn't do well. could have been me though. build tanky? or hybridy? i'm just not sure.

There used to be a time when LoL was considered better, but in my opinion both are just as god-awful.

It's so funny too, because at low elos (700ish) people are super civil. Once you get into mid elos, you deal with terrible people.
At the same time though, we have a pretty solid community here, which makes this game about 100 times more fun then without it.

I used to go like 10 to 14 / 3 to 6 / 10 to 14 or so on my Teemo
now I'm more like 3/10/12 which is crap
I seem to be getting perma stunned a LOT these days. It's either tower hug and get no exp or gold or go out there and get wasted.
teemo is a butt
but I used up my remaining RP to buy the Easter Skin!
here's a guide by TheRainMan, currently the #1 player in NA: http://solomid.net/guides.php?g=658
If I have mpen, does that make the passive damage from sunfire hit harder?

HoN has built-in voice chat so that alone makes pubs a lot worse.
Yeah, my chain of thoughts is like:
Hey a Valve co-developed new Moba!
new gameplay, graphics, champion!
this game will be the next huge thing, everyone will be playing it!
carbon copy of Dota 1
in other news, I win estimately 90-95% of my Rumble games and I think I had like one or two games where I had more deaths than kills. Yay me!
Notice bot lane has fed enemy Eve and Jarvan 12 kills
:x

At 0:50 in this video a certain word is said.
And yeah, Normal Draft Mode should've been a thing ages ago.
Also, Jarvin is silly. 8-2-20something in my first game as him. Poor squishies.
i dunno i think they have waaaay more interesting heroes because of league's limited engine and the way they made the map
was just in a game where everyone played as a team...well we had a singed who we never saw. so it was 4v5
and we kicked serious ass
I was Trundle tanking with only wriggles, frozen mallet, merc treads, and negatron cloak
we had as my backup: ashe, teemo, karthus
we did an asswhooping on: ashe, eve, morde, morgana, and blitz
i was like 7-1-10
