UFC Undisputed 2009 is the hardest game in the entire world

I guess my advice is to play two player mode by yourself, which will not be rewarding but might at least be funny

there are pretty insidious training methods that involve doing them manually and then letting yourself lose occasionally to get easier sparring partners... with this method you won't be undefeated but your character will be stupid-OP by retirement
This is how UFC works in real life too.
I'm doing career mode. It'd be easier if you could just play as Tito or whatever. I'm doing Muay Thai BJJ, but my submissions never work. My record is currently 0-3
And why didn't you get 10? They figured out how to make lefties work. There are no south paws in 09 because the collision detection was all fucked up.

Because 10 was 30 pounds and 09 was 5
Well do what Cool said. Have your guy learn how to throw a head kick and become Cro Cop.
I made a game, it has penguins in it. It's pay what you like on Gumroad.
Currently Ebaying Nothing at all but I might do in the future.
Oh neat ok how do I learn new moves. This was not explained in the tutorial.

UFC 2010 is even better and I'm actually rather surprised there's been so little discussion of it on this forum

Its really frustrating because you have to do a couple camps perfectly to level up a style, and at least for me it was hard as fuck to do all the shit, because your training buddy isn't just a dead fish and will work to tie you up on the ground even if you're trying to work on boxing.

Submissions are pretty much impossible unless their stamina is drained, and even then you'll have to have a high sub offense and near-perfect stick-spinning shining techniques. It's usually not worth it.
You should probably stick with standup. Work on your character's strength stat and try to level up your muay thai camp to 2 to gain new moves. Then spam the heck out of high kicks at a distance and hooks and elbows any closer in.
Out of curiosity, how much was EA MMA?
Turn on the stamina meter...Than wear dudes down by doing ground transitions or block theirs. When their stamina bar is empty submit the shit out of them.
This, and, for me, for whatever reason, I had an easier time submitting enemies by spamming one of the face buttons like I was playing Track&Field, whereas rotating the stick helped me more with escaping submissions.
Yeah they put a lot of though into moving the stick around in different positions to get the transitions, but I could never do it reliably and ended up just spamming stick directions trying to get out of them.
I liked EA MMA's ground a lot better by comparison.

The only way I even beat Undisputed 2009 was I created a character experienced in kickboxing, and headkicked 50 people in a row on my way to retirement.
Steam
I never bothered to beat the game, but this was the most successful road to victory that seemed reliable.
That was my problem with this game. I literally didn't feel comfortable enough to complete a play through until my 3rd character. That and you have to wade through the shitty menus to put logos on your fighters shorts to get the bonus that goes along with it.
To anyone that knows, did they fix that and the submission game for 2010?
oh the submissions sucked so hard. that stupid spin crap with the stick it was horrible especially against the CPU. I think in 2010 they removed the option of button mashing completely and forced you to do the spin stuff? I never played it since I got rid of my console.
2009 single player was stupid easy though. You just had to be patient and time your moves.

Here's a vid of some high level play:

The gist of it was that online didn't work right, free takedowns if the other guy is striking, and lots of ground pitter patter, submissions being impossible, hyper elbows up close, and cage clinch shenanigans.
And no playing as real fighters in career mode.

I mean in EA MMA's fun-as-heck career mode, I ran through it with my Kimbo Slice while others ran through it with this guy
And EA MMA is fun. I've had 4 straight epic battles with Fedor in my HW's career.
And the ground game is alot more fun than in UFC 2009.
But the game just feels a little too simplistic at times and the lack of a UFC license hurts.
No, the whole point of career mode is to have fun. There are no meaningful time restraints and you will learn every move, sooner or later, just by getting a single point in each camp. Being able to play as BJ Penn merely prevents you from using the hideously bad CAF system and dicking around for an hour because your fighter doesn't know how to perform a kick yet.
Probably the best way to build you skills as a player in 2010 at least is to play the classic fights, in which you are rewarded for achieving specific tasks IE - land 10 counters, transition from guard to side control, win with a rear naked choke etc...

If you can put up with less big names in the game I'd go with EA MMA over the UFC offering. CAW is a lot more fun, when it comes to learning moves you still have to do certain things (like avoid being knocked out for a minute without striking back) but the big big change is that if you fail you can redo that over and over until you succeed without eating up weeks or whatever.
Plus you get Bas Rutten as your head coach.
