Anyway I'm sort of disappointed there are no new control or dominator assault sets. I wonder if controllers are going to get access to /time.
Dominators are getting "a big update" "soon" and Controllers are getting /time, always have been along with Corrs, MMs and Fenders.
Do I look like the sort of man who'd go and find unsuspecting Japanese schoolgirls in short skirts and white panties and ask them if they want to see my "Cthulu Special"?

see I'm scared of a big update. I don't want a big update, I just want some new powersets to play with.
It was revealed on the forums that the "big update" is brand new power sets
They didn't say which ones, but they won't be proliferations or kitbashes of existing sets
They're going to be brand new
They are not futzing with the class mechanics or anything, it's just they didn't want to include all new powersets for Doms while everyone else just got ports and kitbashes

Maybe they'll finally give broadsword to brutes.

We've known they were going to proliferate Broadsword to Brutes since earlier this month. They're also getting Katana and Regen.

Nice! I've been waiting for that for a while. Also, in relation to the rewards system. Do things bought in the past count towards rewards? Say I have the wedding/science/mutant pack or whatever, are those going to give me whatever points they are worth retroactively?

Wow, I just read the details on that on the rewards page. They're chopping up all the boosters packs and piecing them back together for sale in the point store. It's going to suck if they have a pack of something, and I already own 2 items and want the 3rd. Unless they're going to sell everything individually as well, then I'm on board for that. I was going to get the Steampunk pack for the top hats and other costume pieces, but I could do without half of the stuff in it.

That's what their doing, you get to pick what you want from the boosters, using your reward points.

So last night I ran a spectacular Keyes trial.
First off, we started with only 23, then we lose about 4 of them during the start. Then a couple of others leave and that leaves us with 5 scrappers, 5 brutes, 4 blasters and 1 MM.
We actually made it to the final fight!
But we couldn't finish the fight.

I've been playing at a fairly consistant time of day and I'm starting to recognize names...
Also, I've just slotted my Destiny and Lore slots. I feel awesome again. Wish the Lore pets had slightly more customization options though (I'm using Clockwork and want them close to "original/orange-yellow" colors).
Do you have access to all incarnate powers during Tin Mage and Apex or just trials?
I still think COH has some really static combat. Compared to DCUO or Champions, I wish the combat had a little more action, movement and flow to it.
That aside, the new tutorial looks great and overall I think this release is a really good idea. It will definitely lure me back to the game and as someone who first started playing it in 2004, that really pleases me. I bet I owe a lot in "back rent" for my super base though.

Yeah, I like that they go back and revamp or expand upon things.
Shivans were kinda just there as a pvp zone reward, now they're a threat.
honestly what really makes CoH's combat feel so static vs. DCUO or Champions is quite simple
in CoH, every attack roots you. It is literally impossible to move and attack simultaneously. To this day I do not understand the reasoning for this, beyond the fact that it's easier to animate.
Because of that, every single fight turns into a giant standing slugfest, because neither you nor the enemies can move while attacking
with the latest raids and shit they've tried to change that up with NPCs that have AoE powers that give you warnings to get the fuck away from them, etc. etc.
but in the end every attack still roots you to the ground for the entire animation of that attack, making everything feel more static and slow vs. the other two superhero MMORPGs
this is also why knockback tends to annoy people on teams so much, because to attack someone you have to run up, stop, and then perform attack animations while standing perfectly still. if some Kin/Energy Defender starts blasting dudes everywhere, it means you have to round them up again, especially if you are a guy with melee AoEs and shit
yeah, and even the aoe stuff in the incarnate content winds up being more annoying than anything, because you have to jump around constantly rather than just moving (at least, if you want to use your attacks while you move.)
It's probably not something that'll ever be changed, but it would be great if at least power set's basic attacks didn't root you.

Regarding this touching tale of heroism and villainy. Who is Japh and Smash and Cicadas on the forums? Its fairly obvious who is me.
Japh doesn't post on the forums I don't think.
Oh, I'm Smash. Smashy smashy.
Not sure that dropping 468 lines of chatlog on here would work well, though. Really what we need is the movie deal and illustrated comic book series to be released right this moment.

I'm also now black listed from starting trials.

You guys can debate amongst yourselves about being the other turtles.
This was pretty cool, thanks for posting it.

yeah, I assumed this was what the answer was
still, at one point we were told that recoloring powers was impossible, so who knows
I don't exactly have high hopes though
