It should be noted that even in the plehtora of 40k novels they mention that Titan close combat weapons are highly impractical. At the range the titan would need to close to in order to use said weapon, their void shields would not be of any use against the enemy titan during the final steps and the enemy titan could just blow it's head off at point blank.

There was a battle in "Titanicus" (fantastic book!) were a Chaos Reaver ripped an imperial titan apart after ambushing it from behind a building with its power fist.

Oh how I love thee 40k.

Hopefully GW will extend their game department further. Chaos Gate 2 would be hella awesome, it'll give us a nice TBS/Warhammer fix and might draw the X-Com crowd, too!

    1. It will never happen.

    2. That would be so sweet. Chaos Gate did a lot of stuff right, and the atmosphere was one of them. The Gothic choral music was so awesome. I mean, check this stuff out:

Fire Warrior wasn't God awful. For a shooter it wasn't that great but my favorite army has always been Tau (despite me owning a 1500 point Necron (without a monolith) army and 1500 Chaos army).

I am really looking forward to Space Marine though, I am glad that cover isn't a big thing since I always imagine Space Marines just running around and stomping peoples face is in while taking little damage. I am currently waiting for DoW2: Retribution to go on sale and all this WH40K has gotten me wanting to play the table top again.

I still want them to make Necromunda (or Mordheim, basically the same thing... but not IN SPACE), their squad combat game where your squad status & gear carry over from mission to mission. There was a little of that in Squad Command, which was actually pretty good for the PSP, if stupidly short. I'd like a full game based on it, though.

While totally possible, titans can also be equipped with a Volcano Cannon. A cannon that does...well what it's name implies. It fires a round of super heated energy that is primarily meant to target huge objects and obliterate them with a single shot. Such targets usually include other Titan-sized opponents and minor hive cities.

Something that can be fired from miles away and rivals the weapons used my the space ships? Redefines bunker buster.

Although, the image of a Titan shoving his fist into a big bunker and wiggling his fingers around (vaporizing everything inside) makes me laugh.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

Inquisitors can deem entire planets lost and order an exterminatus
Exterminatus is the name of a terrible order given by the authorities of the Imperium of Man to destroy an entire planetary biosphere and all life upon a world in extreme circumstances where a potential or actual threat to the entire Imperium exists on the planet and might spread to other Imperial worlds. Exterminatus is typically only used as a last resort, when the price of holding or retaking the world for the Emperor is deemed too high, or the threat of mutation, disease or Chaotic heresy spreading to the rest of the Imperium is too great to contain by conventional means. Thus Exterminatus has very rarely been used on vital or valuable planets to the Imperium. Typically, the order may only be given by a high-ranking Imperial Commander in the Imperial Guard, Imperial Navy or the Space Marines, or by a full member of the Imperial Inquisition.

and an exterminatus involves carpet bombing the planet for a couple of weeks with hydrogen bombs, constantly, with a 50 megaton bomb for every square kilometer of the surface - boiling away the oceans, irradiating the earth and shrouding the entire planet in an impenetrable black haze that chokes the last breaths of life out of the world.

Then when the ordeal is over, and what little remains of the landscape is a charred, ashen wasteland flowing with molten rock, radioactive dust and blasted by a bitter, freezing chill, they repeat the process again. And again. For months, scouring kilometers from the surface of the planet, turning the continents to rubble, levelling mountains and cliffs. The entire world a smooth, obsidian ball winking out of existence in the infinite blackness of space.

So yeah, not a good day to start dabbling in the dark arts, Mr Heretic.
