Nobody is ever gonna make a Battlefleet Gothic game no matter how awesome it would be because it wouldn't be all about spess merines. Lets face it here SM is the biggest money maker for GW. No surprise the only game not about the SM also heavily featured them. And that flopped bad enough I doubt they will stray far from what brings the bacon.

I'm gonna link a video about a secret Relic project that's a proof of concept. Slap a new coat of paint on that bad-boy, put some spikes or chapels on the ships, and multiply EVERYTHING by 100 and you're good to go. Also I think that Relic's created enough goodwill with GW to take a little risk every now and again...

edit: Also the reason why Ork technology doesn't work for other races is that a dead ork is dead 'cause his choppah don't chop or his shootah don't shoot.

    Uuuuugh, PDS.

I loved Homeworld 2, and I love what they were sort of trying to do with PDS, but the people doing it were such joyless automatons. "Will this be a fun mod?" was 1,000th on the list of questions they were asking, right behind "how much would the cafeteria in a capital ship weigh?"

But also yes put spikes on that shit and I'll buy it.

Also the way Orcs work is that their technology is powered by silly geese arguing about their silly fucking lore.

Because despite the plethora of W40K games out there this is the first one with a real budget in a while that isn't an RTS - GW sees it as a starting point to hook all the people that think GoW is awesome but have never heard of 40k.

And for that, you start with the basics. Not some crazy half-tainted chapter on the verge of heresy.

In other news Steam shows the release date as sometime in Summer. Take that as you will.

No but seriously 40k Squad Command is great and everyone should play it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcIfRQQUX8A

I think like no one played cause there are barely any videos on youtube and no one seems to remember it.

Squad Command was good, if pathetically short.

As I've said before, the basis for a campaign-style squad skirmish game is out there, it just hasn't been quite realized yet.

I'm certain it would be OK to call heresy on that My Little Pony avatar of yours.

I realise there's a new series and all but... well... it's a new series of My Little Pony.

Is this just some sort of trendy anachronistic thing I'm not getting? Are we going to be seeing the resurgence of Rainbow Brite next? If so, I'm calling in the Exterminatus right now, clearly this world has been tainted by forces most dark and foul.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

As much as i love this picture, why are marines in Terminator armor using standard boltguns?

    Its not canon.

And i've become one of those horrible nerds i always despised.

On the topic of what chapter they went with, Ultramarines are the best choice for new people to 40K.

The Blood Ravens have been done to death in the Dawn of War series and half of them are corrupt anyway now. And as much as i'd love them to pick my personal favourite, the Blood Angels they'd have to incorporate reality bending psychotic episodes to make it in tune with what being a Blood Angel is like.

For those of you who don't know, it means being borderline crazy in all combat situations.

Yeah Ultramarines are good. This game is probably the first in a new franchise and as such they probably want to go with the "standard" marine formula which is basically Ultramarines. Most people don't know WH40K so making the first game in a new series of games use the more "flavourful" marine chapters would probably be confusing for people when they run around as a 'Space Marine Wolf Viking' or 'Space Marine Vampire'. It's probably better to just start with "Blue Space Marine"

Also look at how ridiculous their chapter master looks like

I was thinking about how to make a 4X game in the 40k universe. Doing it galaxy-wide would be almost impossible unless you used a very high level of abstraction, so a smaller scope would be necessary. How about if the warp has settled around a sector of wilderness space, and you play as the new Sector Governor appointed to explore, conquer, and colonize the region? And as you explore, you'll run into all kinds of fun - Exodite Eldar (piss off a Craftworld for the lulz), Tomb Worlds, Space Hulks, Splinter Fleets, etc. Its almost like Dwarf Fortress in space - explore too much and you'll open a can of fun (I wrote up a longer post, but this is a more readable summary of the idea).

Edit: Oh god, I just imagined a Craftworld coming to your colony (like a Elf caravan in Dwarf Fortress) asking you to leave the Exodite Eldar alone, and a Space Marine flooding space with magma in response. Utterly impossible, but hilarious. Takes purging the alien to a new level.

Don't think we'll be seeing tyranids in this one, looks so far that its going to be "Orkz are all messing up this Forge World that you gotta protect, but something seems...suspicious. There seems to be a driving force behind them that's almost chaotic. "
"Its almost as if...we are redoing the plot of the first game"
If I can play as a chaos marine I will buy this 10x.
