THOR
Thor_IMAX_Poster.jpg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHBnrJowBZE
Directed by Oscar Award winner Kenneth Brannagh, Thor is the story of, well, Thor (Chris Hemsworth). A Norse God cast to Earth for his arrogance and reckless reignition of an ages-old war by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). On Earth, aided by Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) he seeks to reclaim his hammer Mjolnir, and with it his godly powers. Meanwhile, back home in Asgard his treacherous half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) plots something sinister in Thor's absence.

It's already out in Australia and releases May 6th in the US.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
captain-america-the-first-avenger-movie-poster.jpg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JerVrbLldXw&
Directed by Joe Johnson (The Rocketeer) and set in the midst of World War 2, it follows Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) a scrawny underweight patriot whose only dream is to serve in the army, despite constant rejection from service. A group of military generals and scientists (Including Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark) accept him in an experimental program known as Project: Rebirth. Using a cocktail of chemicals and technology he is transformed into the world's first super-soldier but a Nazi assassin's attack on the head scientist makes him the first and last of his kind. Shipped overseas, he is used as a symbol against the Nazi forces such as the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), head of the Reich's occult and superscience division: HYDRA.

It comes out July 27th.
THE AVENGERS
The-Avengers-Fan-Made-Poster-2.jpg
(Poster is fan-made)
Uniting threads and characters from Iron Man 1 and 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, the Avengers will form the team of Earth's Mightiest Heroes for the first time. All of the actors (minus Ed Norton, who has been replaced by Mark Ruffalo) return as their respective heroes, this time joined by Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

It releases May 4th, 2012.

There are also video games coming out for Thor and Captain America. They do not look very good. I do not think The Avengers is not under Marvel's contract with Sega so maybe it will get a good video game adaptation.

There is an ARG type thingie for Thor where you can join S.H.I.E.L.D. The second game is godawful, but hey you can win tickets to Thor or an iPad.

George Takei to Warner Bros.: Don’t Whitewash Akira
Star Trek legend George Takei is leading the charge against Hollywood's whitewashed version of anime classic Akira. He wants Warner Bros. to do the right thing and cast Asian actors in the saga. But will the studio listen?

In March, a leaked casting list for Warner Bros' Akira translation unleashed a fury of WTF across the internet. The rumored list for contenders were as follows: Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield, and James McAvoy for Tetsuo, with Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake, and Joaquin Phoenix for Kaneda. Not a single Asian actor. Naturally, people were furious. Was Akira going to fall victim of the whitewashing that happened to Dragonball and Airbender? All signs are pointing to yes, unless something could be done. Enter Takei and the facebook virtual petition "Don't Whitewash Akira."

Saw Thor last night, pretty good movie, didn't enjoy it as much as iron man, but enjoyed it more then hulk (and I liked Hulk for the record). Mind you outside of Thor = thunder god, Loki = mischief god, I knew nothing else about thor going in. Fight scenes where pretty cool and some funny scenes when he first gets to earth

    Good line with Agent Coulson
When he talks to agent coulson towards the end he calls him son of coul, which seemed like a nice touch

    After Credits Scene
Eric Selvig is shown walking through some underground corridors when you hear Nick Fury talking off camera. They talk about the rainbow bridge (forgot the name) stuff and Nic Fury shows him a briefcase with this blue thing in it that's glowing saying how it can offer limitless power if they can tap into it. Cuts to a side shot of Eric and in the window you see his reflection but also Loki standing next to him saying something along the lines of "This could be interesting" then Eric repeats Loki's line to Nick Fury

Oh and there was one other thing, a few times chris hemsworth accent shifts and he says the odd word here and there with an irish twinge

DC will probably always kinda suck at the movies, compared to Marvel.

I mean, Dark Knight was fantastic, but Batman is one of what? Two DC franchises that have made any big-screen money? They got Batman and Superman, and their last attempt at Superman was hilariously terrible.

On the other hand, DC has the entirety of the DCAU, which Marvel has never really been able to match. So there's that.

But this is about live-action movies. So yeah, DC needs to get their shit in gear.

Thor was really quite great. Enjoyed it more than Iron Man, have to say. Almost surprisingly so because knowing absolutely nothing about the comic background to any of these films they always look a little silly in the trailers and the stills - but it totally worked somehow.

Don't care about any of this Avengers stuff though. I mean I guess it's something for fans but if all these Marvel movies are going to have it laced throughout and at the end it's actually kinda annoying. The cameo in Thor was so forced.

I can't see The Avengers being successful at all. How the christ are they going to make a profit let alone a good movie with so much content, so many huge, scene stealing characters and so much backstory they have to spread it out over every other film. Is it really the holy grail for comic fans though? Thor and especially Iron Man were great movies that had this other thing tacked on that seemed like it was trying to railroad me into this other thing when the thing they had going standalone was great.
