I think I have almost every turrist shooting game on steam, what's more MURRIKAN FUCK YEAH than capitalism?
According to Valve writer Erik Wolpaw
"In late September, news agencies all over the world printed this concise cultural analysis made by Afghan mujahedin fighter Maulana Inyadullah, the Ricky Carmichael of eXtreme Musliming:
The Americans love Pepsi-Cola, we love death.
Well, it's January and I'm drinking a Pepsi and Mr. Inyadullah is probably dead. So, contrary to the dire predictions of the clerk at the food coop, the war had a happy ending for everyone. Stuff that in the hole of your two dollar spelt donut, hippy. That slogan's part two of my plan to humiliate the know-it-all clerks at the food coop. Part one is starting to make eye contact with them while they're ringing up my spelt donut every day."
Question RE: Laptop trackpads and gaming. Recently got a new laptop which can handle gaming. However lots of games have issues, mostly with scroll wheel functions (weapon select, zoom, etc). A lot of the time I just plug in a mouse (usually FPSes) but some games, like Capsized, it seems a little excessive. Especially while gaming on the go or in areas with little space.
So, anyone know of anyone know of good programs/drivers to make track pad scroll wheel behave more closely to a real scroll wheel.
Now to be clear, if I transfer the contents of a game's folder from one steam computer to another, the second one has to go online at least once to let me play it there?
If you guys can't stay on topic I'm going to forbid further running of contests in this thread. It's about Steam. It's not about "hey guys I'll buy you a game if you post images for three pages"

That's my understanding, yes. Best to assume so and play it safe.
That's a pretty good price on the first Dragon Age. Would be tempted if I didn't have a huge backlog already (mostly due to Steam).
Since it's EA week, hopefully, they'll put Mirror's Edge on sale for $5 one day. Loved the 360 version, but I sold it since I'd figure I'd get the superior PC version sometime (which will only get better each time I replace my computer).
I was kinda pumped about this then I realized EA priced Dragon Age 2 at non-pc game prices. I'll wait
I can see that being pretty much the theme of at least 2 of the week's sales. Bulletstorm and Crysis 2 still being $60 scream "25% off". Well, BS might reach 33%-50%.
Owning most of these games already kinda take the wind from my sails. The only thing I'd really consider snatching up would be finally getting the Crysis games.
Have DA:O in my 360 backlog, and I appear to only have Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner as purchased. Wondering if it's worth trying to ditch the 360 version and pick up the Ultimate version for $20.

Also, any bets on how much ME+ME2 will go for?
Both for $10-$15 would be my bet. $5 or $7.50 each.
Oh dangit. I've been wanting Dragon age and mass effect for awhile, but I've got no chance of getting either this time around. Oh well. MAYBE next time.
I'd guess $10 a piece for ME1 & 2. Maybe less on ME1, but they don't really have any need to drop ME2 any lower than $10 since it sold well and isn't that old.

Not to worry, Summer sale will be here shortly. Just start saving
There'll probably be a Crysis day, but the chances of Crysis 2 being more than 25% off seem slim.
I wonder how low they'll go on The Sims 3 stuff. Ideally they would lower the regular Steam price to something reasonable for a game that came out in 2009, but I'm well aware that they won't do that before they put out a Sims 4.

I'm also sadly not very hopeful on this one but at least there's a small comfort that some day in the future I'll be able to get it all together for 'relatively' cheap in a nice easy single download package.
Just might take another 5 years
Sims 2 complete pack would have been awesome with a single install on steam
lol wow that's a terrible deal. I Pre-Ordered DA2 for 25% off through D2D so this is not exactly a deal for new customers
Yeah. Sadly this. Plus if this deal would've happened a little sooner people could've gotten a free copy of ME2. Oh well.
I wonder if Sims 3 Generations is going to be announced on Steam anytime soon. That'd be nice considering I'm fairly certain the Steam version of Sims 3 can only use Steam expansions.
I made the mistake of looking at the pricing of The Sims 3 stuff on the EA store. With the exception of the base game and the most recent stuff pack (and an upcoming expansion pack not currently on Steam at all) all of it is significantly cheaper than on Steam.
Did anyone ever find out how to delete game groups in the library? All my games are disorganized now because I made way too many groups.
Unless there's a trick that involves deleting files, you have to go to every game in a group and make it not be in a group. I'm fairly sure that if all games are removed from a group, it'll disappear. Note that while it will only be shown under favorites, a game can be in both favorites and a custom group.

Why do you think EA had that sale *last* month? If anything EA wants people to buy directly from them, not Steam.

You do realize that that deal was valid no matter where you bought DA2 and retro-active? And while yes, the free copy of ME2 had to be acquired using the EADM, there was nothing forcing you to buy DA2 directly from them.

I know that, but it's Steam... lol. You really think it's coincidence they (EA) planned this sale a day after that promo(or the Promo before the sale) ended?

Hah, I'm all for conspiracy theories and I would never put anything crazy past them.
I think I'll have to make the call between With Fire & Sword and DA:O. I've already got Origins, but not Awakening or the DLC. The only part that bothers me is having both DA:O and Ultimate Edition as separate items on my list.
Not too fond of these moments usually. Crysis is actually one of those rare cases where the EU is actually getting a better deal than the US for a change. (Crysis complete = $60 while it's 20 euro's for us)
And deals like this tend to suddenly equal the field to 1$ = 1Euro, even after the sales
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
If you guys can't stay on topic I'm going to forbid further running of contests in this thread. It's about Steam. It's not about "hey guys I'll buy you a game if you post images for three pages"
I didn't intend it to be solely an image contest and I certainly didn't intend to start any sort of tangent. If this is how you want things to run I won't do any more giveaways, I didn't know you had a problem with them.
Am I wrong in thinking that 25% off just isn't enough for DA2? Seems like it'll be a lot cheaper later in the year, and considering that I haven't even beaten DA:O or even started Awakening yet I should hold off, right?
Ok, so I'm about to fire up KOTOR for the first time. Anything I need to know, like required mods, that sort of thing? My hardware is, depressingly, fairly period-accurate (except for a 1680 x 1050 LCD monitor).
There are next to no KOTOR mods (barring the usual suspects like nudie mods and "start the game as a Jedi"), and in fact modding and its discussion was verboten by Lucasarts on pretty much every KOTOR-related forum it had any control over.
Other than what these guys have said for a KOTOR run, you really don't need mods to make it pretty or anything. It doesn't look great, but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun. Just play vanilla straight through, and you should have a good time. Unless you play on hard, you shouldn't have much of a problem most of the time figuring out a good strategy to beat the baddies.
Poking around google as carefully as I could as to not stumble over plot spoilers, I noticed there's a widescreen hack for it? I'm guessing that means it doesn't support widescreen natively? That sucks. But the only workaround I could find involved using a No-CD hacked exe. Does anyone else know any other way. I really don't want to mess around with the exe of a Steam game.
Reposting this before I go ahead and do something stupid. Should I just settle for running it in 4:3 windowed-mode?
You can hex edit the exe, but like you mentioned, I personally wouldn't go jacking around with a Steam exe lest you find your game library gone.
I'd probably just play it in a window at the highest resolution you can.
So I fired up KOTOR this weekend. Decided to just see what it'd look like without any extra effort. My native resolution is 1680x1050, I'm running it full screen at 1400x1050 (I think that's what I picked) and it actually doesn't look that bad. I really don't even notice any stretching issues. My only problem now is particle effects. If I get too close to smoke, it chokes my computer. What visual setting is most effected by particle effects? AA? AF? Something else?
Decided to roll a light-side Scout for my first playthrough. I figured light-side gives me alot more reason to be asking everyone about who they are and stuff instead of just telling everyone to fuck off. And I remembered someone told me not to roll soldier, and stealth really isn't my thing. So far it's fantastic. The VO is absurdly good. My save is standing right in front of the entrance to the Taris Sewers and I'm already hooked.
I'm really trying not to read any guides. For my first playthrough I don't want to be worried about min/maxing. But if someone could tell me how important your point distribution is for attributes, skills, and feats? Is it more like DiabloII where if you're not careful you'll be completely boned later in the game, or is it more forgiving? Right now I'm just going on intuition but every time I spend a point I break out into cold sweats. lol

Besides which there isn't much I don't have that I'd be crazy about grabbing. Mayb BC2 Vietnam, or Dead Space 2 if it goes on sale cheap enough.
Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
Yeah, the M&B key from steam can be used on the website to download a copy from there, but you can't use a website key on steam to get it from steam.
The lesson is, buy through steam.

The original DA plays far better on the PC than Console. DA2 is where they made it pretty much the same, to many PC gamers ire.
