Don't buy Medal of Honor by the way, the game is awful.
So you're saying my $15 would be better spent on Section 8?
Section 8 Prejudice is a good game period. From what I've heard, Medal of Honor fans were disappointed as were people new to the series, and from what I've seen the game plays like CoD with fewer, repeated killstreaks, fewer weapons, unlocks, challenges, gameplay modes, maps, you name it. Doesn't seem worth it, if you like that kind of game you should either go with:
- Call of Duty (any of the new ones), if you like fast gameplay
- Bad Company, if you like destructible environmets and more strategic and realistic gameplay
- Battlefield 2, if you want more classic and less realistic, yet still far more strategic gameplay. Also has a big fun-factor due to great balance between different classes and vehicles, big maps with options - freedom so to say.
Oh my, I just bought Bad Company 2 and am now installing it.
I have zero willpower.
BC2 is fantastic playing with PA people. As for Vietnam, the guns definitely has more kick to it and I like the way it feels, but the maps are way too open for my liking. Flying the helo is a hell of a lot more easier in Vietnam than flying a helo in vanilla.
I have a feeling that if I get BC2, it'll be like TF2 where I can only be bothered playing it a couple hours a week, when the PA servers fill up, since the pub ones are rubbish.
How do i get MAss Effect 2 DLC when ive got the game on steam? I dont see any of the DLC listed on steam, what am I doing wrong? Also, what are the "mus thave" DLC's on it? I know sometimes the DLC is nonsense on these games, i only want the one/two that actually add quality to the plot.

You get it from Bioware's site. I'd ask what DLC to get in the ME thread.
Just Cause 2, tragically short on agency missions but maybe that's because I made it my mission to destroy about half the island and unlock the entire black market before I started on the plot.
Hoorah, totally didn't need a mod for that.
So, curious question about steam, if I were a teacher, and got me a seperate steam account and installed it to a pc in my classroom and crammed it full of educational games, that would be legal right? (at least until my students figure out how to gift my account Sex and Murder 3: Gangbangs in Havana GOTY Edition)
More than likely not, you would need to contact valve/the developer/publisher and see about an educational license probably. Otherwise you are essentially setting up a situation similar to the PC store things where you pay to play games for X hours without owning them. And they have to pay extra for it.
How new guy friendly are these? Have almost zero experience of these type of games and am wondering if everyone else will be expert after so long and I'll just raise my blood pressure.
Edit : Specifically BF2 and BC2

It occurs to me that I haven't done any straightforward, no-frills virtual Nazi elimination in some time.
I played through a good portion of the first Chapter on Dead Space, was really enjoying it, when i got to a door that just would not open no matter how long i stood at it (and continued to do so after reloading/trying different saves). After a quick search online, it seems the only solution to this is to restart the chapter and try again, so I started a new game, only to get the same issue on a different door (in fact the first one you come to after the shit hits the fan). I'm going to try once more (only because its been so enjoyable so far), but if it happens once more I'm writing it off as a buggy POS and playing something I can actually get somewhere with.
it's probably related to framerate.
make sure you turn off v-sync in-game, then force it on in your graphics card drivers. DS1 and 2 run on a very very optimized engine, but it ties game speed to framerate and that can cause the physics to bug for a bit if you don't limit the framerate.
Cheers for this, sorted the issue out, plus turning the V-sync off made the game control a lot better as well.
You are now responsible for many terrifying, sleepless nights.
Any chance I can get someone to order one of the discounted copies of Brink from Direct 2 Drive for me? It's region locked for Australia, but it's Steamworks apparently and only about $37 instead of $90 here.
Can you buy gift copies on D2D? Cuz i bought it at that price for myself. I am willing to buy one for you if you paypal me the $37, only take me 5 mins.
Is this discount still going on? It shows as $50 for me...
Use the promotional code sizzle to get 25% off.
Does it count as serving the Newell if I get it on D2D?

First couple levels are a bit painful and then it's just fine. Unlike most games with unlocks the starting weapons are some of the very best.
BC 2 is probably the only modern military shooter I've ever really given a shit about. I've never even played the single player for more than a mission or two, but I've logged at least 100 hours in the multiplayer. It's fun as fuck.
Never could get into Vietnam, though.

So is BC2 the way to go because nobody still plays BF2 or?

If you want to just shoot mans, get BC2, it's got (mostly) better gameplay and is way more active, tons of players and servers to play on. Also you can knock down buildings.
BF2 I'd say at this point is for dedicated groups running servers, I logged in and couldn't find any servers that I really felt like playing on, too many had arbitrary shitty rules that removed the good aspects of the game. The thing that BF2 did really well was teamwork via squad leaders and commanders and a lot of that is removed now.
If you are looking for a very realistic shooter experience but Arma is too much of a hassle for you, you could get BF2 and Project Reality and play on their servers. But honestly just play Arma with us.

Sweet, worked a charm. Now if only I could play longer than 15 minutes at a time
Great day for the sale, a heap of titles on sale. I don't share the same levels of hate for the MoH remake than a lot of people seem to. I enjoyed the single player even if it was a bit rough around the edges, hell I think it can be better than BC2s single player. But multi had some interesting design choices that led to it dying pretty quickly. Not worth $15.
If you don't have Bad Company 2, I don't want to be your friend. Go and get it now.
Still, day saved with MoH:Airborne and BF2 Collection for $6; a steal!
Gonna pass on todays sale, already picked up a lot for the backlog and dont see anything that screams to me. All the hate for MoH turned me off of that. Besides, i just picked up BRINK and i know i will most likley just be playing that for a little while after it comes out.
I really did enjoy BC2. It just wasn't Battlefield, which isn't good or bad, but just is. I don't regret purchasing it full-price and I just know I won't regret BF3.
I should probably get one of these games, I don't feel like playing anything in my backlog.
Lets make sure I have this straight:
Battlefield 2: Single Player Campaign and Multi-player, but most likely not anyone playing. (5 USD)
Battlefield Bad Company 2: Newest in the series but a weak/non existent single player, but should have good life even without the Vietnam xpac (6.80 USD)
Medal of Honor: Airborne: Kill Nazi's on the cheap, no multiplayer. (2.50 USD)
Im really not sure which one to get, but are my little blurbs even close to accurate? Id like to grab one, start the download, go mow my lawn, come back and shoot at dudes/npc's/something.
Edit: I haven't played a Battlefield game since 1942 (43?), It was great fun, but only because trying to figure out how to fly the airplane and crashing it in the most spectacular fashion used to make me laugh so hard. I found it especially funny because I wasn't doing it on purpose, I just suck at flying airplanes. Any of them have airplanes I can crash?
I thought airborne had mp, but you probably wont find peeps playing it. Good thing about airborne is that you'll have bigger wide open maps (a real city if you will, you drop in from the sky) with more points of entrance, rather than the regular corridor shooter and spawn lines.
I agree on BC2 sp being boring. Didn't finish it. I don't recommend it.

Praise be the Newell!

Does BC2 suffer from that problem?
Does MOH still come with the beta invite? I'm thinking not but you never know.
The EA stuff didn't interest me at all, or I had already played and didn't warrant a(nother) purchase.

I saw that, I'm worried that it was posted there for launch and never taken down.

Funnysad part is that turning around still feels jerky even with the control pad.
