you can sell trash items to the merchants for 0 money.
made a gold short sword instead if a broad sword last night. was not amused.
I was using an iron short sword last night. They aren't bad for fighting off zombies since they swing super fast.
They suck against slimes and fliers though.
Great game, though for some reasons none of the skeletons I killed my first two game sessions dropped any hooks, which made exploring the corruption a chore. I went straight to hell instead, flooding it first helped a lot.
I've just been innocently skipping around forests picking mushrooms, occasionally hopping underground to mine some crap and kill some junk. Building squalorous hovels for those freeloading NPCs to live in etc.
I actually found some corruption for the first time earlier, and was promptly eaten by a giant sand worm thing. Then I found some skeletons....but they didn't drop any hooks, unfortunately.
I feel like I am the most unlucky person in this game. only drop I have gotten is the shackle. finally got my first 10 stars for mana, and I have never found a heart.
Oh.... I did find a whoopie cushion.
You put it on your bar and activate it and it makes a farting noise, including to others around you. great for annoyances
I question if people have like mined my server out already.

So I was fighting skeletron, just firing nonstop with the my minishark, nearly about to kill him when I stop firing. Why did I stop firing? Did I switch weapons by accident? Ohh god no way I just tore through 2000 rounds of ammo and I'm out.
Then a star falls and kills him.

It was really fun earlier today where the few of us on Dianno's server just decided to go West. Think we travelled something silly like 8000 ft from the main town, but eventually we ran into this area of ground athat burned you if you stepped on it (not the corruption, it looked like fiery rock). Turned out to be a fallen meteorite.
We couldn't mine it, so the one guy that could spent the next ten minutes getting all the ore while the rest of us fended off the fiery skull spawns (which dropped a nice amount of gold). Ended up getting enough meteorite ore to make 2 lightsabers!
Another meteorite dropped on Dianno's server, apparently. I haven't looked for it and I'm about to hop off so people get to it
Also, I found this
And set up a route to it, sorta.

The main town in Dianno's server had an explosion or something. We're missing the moat and most of the front lower areas Piggy Bank got disappeared too.
This program runs in your taskbar and lets you resize windows that don't normally allow it, like Terraria. I haven't had any problems with it, and it lets me stretch the window out to at least be tall enough to fill up my screen, without having to run it in fullscreen (which looks terrible).
Thank you for this

Alien imposter. Pretender. I'll keep you safe now. Close to my heart.
The server absolutely eats your system resources. I wonder if its because it never despawns stuff, or something is just not handled properly in memory mechanically (not a memory leak).
Man, had a fantastic spree of upgrades once I started fighting bosses. Went from a mix of gold and silver armor to having 2/3rds demonscale, an orb of light, a vilethorn, musket, and nightmare pick. Plugging dudes in the face with bullets is fun!

I finally saved up enough money for the
Mini-Shark.
Because the only thing better than shooting someone in the face with bullets is shooting people in the face with lots of bullets.
I just started playing, and slimes keep coming and coming and I'm almost dead. How do I get rid of them? Do I have to hole up in a cave or what?
They never stop!
Yeah you need to kinda hole up behind yourself as you dig or they will come after you. You are never really safe from slimes, try to get a better broadsword quickly to make it easier to kill them.

Man, I even blocked myself off in a cave and they are spawning in here I guess.
So looking at the video and the thread this game looks pretty fun. Some info I couldn't find on their site or in the OP.
How does persistance in this game work... can... I set up a server for myself and my friends to work on? or how does that all work?
You've gotta do some port forwarding to set up a server, but people who have done it could tell you more. In terms of persistence, that other than stuff you've placed/npcs is character specific. Like... go on a multiplayer server, get stuff. Make a single player world, you'll have all of your inventory with you.

I know that your inventory is persistent across servers and into singleplayer. If you have a piggy bank both in an MP server and SP it's also persistent.

Characters are persitant across all modes/worlds, so anything you acquire in sp carries over to mp and vice versa. Yes you can set up a server with a persistant world for you guys to play on.

Something I didn't know (and would have saved me a lot of trouble): you can put money in the piggybank. I didn't realize money was its own item, I thought because it took up separate slots in your inventory that it was only an inventory thing but nope, money in the bank!

People gotta stop fighting off invasions and the Eye with bombs. Buy grenades to fight monsters with explosions, they won't take out blocks.

There was an invasion that wasn't Bloodmoon and I missed it? Boo!
I repaired most of the damage. The only permanent things we seemed to lose were the Hellfire forge (ouch) and the lava moat which descended a bout 100 ft straight down.
Man fuck Malstrom. The guy completely panned the game and it was the first time I'd heard of the game so I thought it was just some random crappy indie game. Turns out it's a lot of fun!

Unfortunately, I think you have to make a new character to get it. There doesn't seem to be a way to edit them.
