Vic's server now has a lake of water down in Hell, making obsidian farming easy as pie. With fire imps. And giant skeletal worms. Took about 5 minutes for the water to drain all the way down there, when it finished, it was about 25 blocks at it's deepest point. I think I saw some other people adding to it at some point, too, since water kept flowing down in at random intervals while I was mining.
So what's the best mid-level weapon to use against the Eye of Cthulu? Boomerang, shurikens, or gold bow?
Boomerang pierces, right? What you want is a ranged weapon that will stop his little eyepets from screwing you up. So the boomerang or shurikens, or ideally a bow with unholy or jester arrows (Both of which pierce). At phase 2 you can just go balls out with whatever does the most damage.

i've always had the most luck with a stack of 130 shurikens or so, of course now my character is a beast so i will just jump at him with my diamond lightsaber
Not a ladder, but you can use single shelf pieces to make one. Just space them out a 4 or 5 tiles vertically. Keep jumping to climb up. Hold 'S' to drop down.
I found a pair of flippers. Finally, water isn't a death sentence.

I went into the temple 8 clicks away from town in Dianno's server. Cheesed past the old man by entering during the day with the door open. No problem I'm going down stealing books and loot and nothing's there. All of a sudden GIANT SKELETON HEAD. So I panic and keeping running down away from it and his friends show up. By the time I died there were 8-9 6000 hp skeleton heads chasing me

My only issue with Terraria right now is the wtf ridiculous monster spawn rate on multiplayer servers. Like, whoa. My friend was on my server earlier when a goblin army attacked. I now can't get out of the spawn area (also beds don't work in multiplayer, so have to try to walk to my house every time I die) because there is a never-ending stream of goblins coming to wreck me, and I don't have the equipment to deal with them easily. Before the goblins, the slimes were pretty much just as annoying. There are so many that it stops being challenging and becomes just tedious and frustrating.
Spent the weekend with this game. So addictive. But I have questions!
-My goggle hobo recently plundered his first meteor site. What the hell do I do with the meteorite ore? I'm wearing full shadowscale armor. Is meteorite armor better or what?
-Has anyone solo'd the skeleton boss yet? I want to raid a dungeon but I play solo atm...wondering if I should save for a minishark, buy a gazillion rounds of ammunition and go try my luck on the old man.
- I saw underground jungles with cool shit in some of the youtube videos: where are those? how deep are they? I've gone down 2000+ feet (and got gangbanged by imps) and not seen anything like that.

Dig horizontally along the lava line looking for a lake closer to the lava.
Man, I really want an item that works for CTF, shows when its being carried by someone and returns to base if someone on the right team picks it up. Anyone here ever play Soldat? Yeah. Soldat with deformable terrain.
Also yes the skeleton boss is definitely soloable.
Meteorite makes armor of the same defense as Shadowscale, only Meteor armor regens your mana, and if you wear all 3 pieces you use 25% less mana, also you leave a darkness lighting fire trail whenever you move.
Skeletron is easy once you've farmed Molten (hellstone) gear. A molten bow firing unholy arrows in a full suit of molten armor means you do more damage to him than he does to you, hit for hit. Set up an area to fight him in that favors you and he'll go down with 150 or so arrows.
The jungles are placed randomly underground on start up, easiest way to find it is start a small world and run along the surface looking for a large expanse of Mud blocks. The jungle is built entirely upon mud and if its near enough to the surface can replace all the usual dirt/sand/stone that would normally be there. If you don't see any big mud fields just start a new world.

So apparently this is the 6th most played game on Steam right now. It's beating TF2 and Portal 2.
So I'm pretty confident we'll be getting a lot of content from these guys.
This is the best. This game is awesome and everyone should be playing it.
I just got to my first giant cave system, picked up a couple of hearts and a thing that lets me double jump, along with a mirror and tons of ore. It was epic.

Just build a house faster. All it takes is chopping down a few trees to be able to throw up some walls and make a sword.
edit: Is this going to successfully accommodate the Guide and one more NPC?
Don't even make a wooden sword, just use the pickaxe. It does nearly the same damage, swings faster, and you can just hold the button down.

I would relace that bit of dirt with something else by the door on the right. Just in case. Otherwise, you're good.

I used shurikens. A shitload of shurikens. And health potions.
Interestingly, it looks like Demonite stuff can now be crafted at a normal forge, instead of requiring an altar. Sword get!
Some more things I've noticed:
Ebonstone is a valid material for constructing houses. My new Dryad's extension is all corruptedy.
Demonite ore, despite as far as I know not existing anywhere in the world, is placeable. Get to working on that fortress!
