EVE Online: A study in internet spaceships and bad posts
Did you ransom him, then blow him up anyway after he paid?
nah, he offered to pay
I did maybe kinda play like, after taking him into structure, that I was gonna let him go
then I blew him up
Oh god this is the game I want to play so bad.
I am going to need some hand holding I think, though. Right now I'm just kind of takin everything to level 3 while I do the career starting agents. In another couple days that will be all done and unless the game takes hold of my hand for me I will be on here and the Corp chat asking very basic questions.

First time on a fleet op.
Well, one that didn't get interrupted by a server reset.
It's funny that it doesn't bother me at all that I'm just looking at the same thing with different colours over and over (yet), I'm just loving the space scenery.
I also can't WAIT to get out into 0.0 space.
I wish I'd started playing this game years ago.
I have no idea what I'm doing yet, though. Is ratting a sustainable "job"? That seems like something I'd like to do. What's the right kind of ship for that type of work?
I'd love to get into bounty hunting, but that seems a bit advanced for me at this point. Thoughts?
Ratting is the closest approximation to a "job" that will not make you want to drill your eyes out.
What ship is required depends on what space you are in. In Merch territory you're going to ideally want a Battlecruiser.
The Merch forums has a lot of info on this stuff, including what skills you need to train.
If you like the graphics in EVE then you would have liked Earth and Beyond. As they actually spent more than 20 minutes developing notably iconic imagery in space, up to and including making asteroid fields actually interesting to look at and explore.
I really want them to have the same sort of separation of skills though. I love the EVE system with all the different tanks and weapon systems and all and seeing that kind of customization and choice in an FPS would be incredible.

Bounty hunting unfortunately isn't really a thing in eve. The bounty system itself is terribly flawed, and if anybody gets a good sized bounty on their head, they can just have an alt/friend pod them for it. It isn't at all something you can make a career out of. Hope they get to fixing it at some point, but their focus generally is pumping out new content, not fixing old content that's already broke.
Kind of tempted to resub and jump down this rabbit hole for at least the summer. I wonder what I was training when I left last time.
EDIT: Although hearing about all this new tutorial stuff makes me wonder if I would be better off making a new trial account and seeing what different parts of the game look like.
I've been in a holding pattern waiting for someone to decide where we're going to base out of so I can start salvaging and make money, so all I've been doing is getting on to queue skills. I mean, I won't really be able to play for a few weeks anyway but still
the worst is going to be when I vacation for a week at the end of the month

This is one of the best parts about eve. You can take a break for a little while and come back to the game with a better character.
that and I got like 90mil from generous persons, so I'm not that concerned. it's not a lot, obviously, but it's enough to not make me sweat at not making money

You and me both, seriously.

Hopefully they do more with DUST 514 at E3.

I remember using all three download options, and the only thing I remember is that the official download client is a bastard.
WOOO 25.7 kbps is the lowest it's going.
I learned that the hard way.
they are easy to get into and are hilariously overpowered
