The UI video showed them on a separate timer, but the molotovs seemed to be an ability :?
Well, each ability has its own cooldown, but it also consumes a pip from your supply meter, which replenishes naturally over time as well.
So even if an ability cools down, if you're been rapidly using different abilities you'll find your supply meter is empty so you can't use any abilities until you give it time to replenish.
one of the things that really gets me excited for the game is hearing the devs talk about the design choices they made and why, and i'm sure a few people here agree with me. the one thing that stood out to me was one comment made about how to keep a good community going for a game like this.
not only are the devs going to be listening intently to us about what we like and don't like, they're going to be actively making changes to the game to help balance the game out over time. so, if you buy brink and have problems with the online at launch, come back in a month or so and see if it's still bad.
i'm also excited for possible DLC for brink, as it could add not just maps but also more guns or cosmetic changes for our character. fuck, i love that this is getting compared to TF2 just because of the ridiculous amount of content added to that game since launch.
i'm really not worried about a thing at this point, i've played it, loved it, and can't wait for more.

If they listen to the community we're gona end up with snipers again....lots and lots of snipers. Just so you know I hate snipers, not because they shoot me in the head but because they killed BC2 for me and TF2 isn't exactly free of the little blighter’s. 1 ok, 2 sure, 3+ go to hell and play something with a bit of meat and pushing power.
Looking at the developers on the youtube vids etc they all seem to be British or French so why the hell are we still waiting an additional 3 days. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Rant over. Just 8 more days.

If the game is popular for a sustained period of time and the tools are there the community will provide maps after a while, too. :^:
Well they've already basically said they plan on handing out the SDK and map building tools, so I expect it won't be terribly long before there are loads of truly godawful community made maps and also a couple good ones.
Any sort of paid content that divides the community is terrible unless you're doing campaign-esque shit detached from the versus element.
TF2 lets you buy hats, weapons, hats and little doodads. It doesn't prevent your buddy from playing, and others can eventually get weapons they want via crafting or trades. A lot of other games make you shell out for maps, which means your pals cannot join you if they feel that $15 for a map pack is a ripoff.
Mine tastes like having to eat pre-chewed, regurgitated food, like baby birds eat, until I decide if the food will taste good enough when I eat it on my own.
Bink TV will be starting and streaming on release day for anyone that is hesitant to buy the game. Worth a bookmark if watching a stream is your thing.
The TF2 analogy for the map count offers little solace, as I'll be playing on console. SDK, map editors, etc. are great for PC folks though.
As for whoever mentioned the design decisions, I agree. While I do like their ideas and what they're trying to do, I've gone back to play Blops and I'm heartbroken. That's another example of a game that had (some) promising ideas that sort of shat the bed. Once the novelty wore off, I was left with a heap of crappy netcode, invincibility frames, and oh yay, quickscoping is back.
I realize SD is in no way Treyarch, it's just that I'm not naive enough to believe that good intentions make for a good game anymore. I just don't have enough experience with SD games to know how well their execution is. A demo would be nice, or being able to play at PAX or something would've at least given me a frame of reference.
I don't play console TF2, I was just under the impression that the support for the console equivalents of valve games was appalling. I remember friends refusing to play L4D after like a day on 360 because of the discrepancies in patching.

It's less a Valve thing, and more a MS thing.
Long in-house patch validation processes, requiring all content downloads beyond the first to adhere to pricing schemes (Hint: There is no portion of the pricing scheme for "Free"), etc.
So after such a long stint of Bad Company 2, I am not feeling the support items from what I have seen in this game. Stuff like ammo and medic packs in BC2 can be dropped while you go to continue to fight the enemy and enjoy you can help your team passively. Brink seems to be that you'll need to switch focus with ammo and medic shit on dudes that needed which can break you away from shooting.

Watch the Brink TV stream on launch day and after. I linked it earlier.
It'll be the PC version but it could still be informative for you.
Oh, I've preordered. I'm just trying to temper my expectations.
The MS patching fees are pretty ridiculous, and one of the reasons I think necvars should be the de facto standard these days. To think that some games don't get balance patches out because the devs have to wait to roll other stuff into a big patch to save money is just dumb.
If people that have played the game say slide tackling isn't retarded, then I'm happy. Map count I'm less worried about, because like I said...MNC is still fun with only 4 maps because the gameplay is just that varied.

It's about time a game came out where I can make use of my RTCW and Pro Evo skills. :^:

Maybe my skills were simply insufficient to pay the bills, but I tried slide tackling a few times and they saw me coming and my ass got gunned down before I even reached them.

Yeah, it is totally cooler to have to swap to a kit, throw it, and then swap back (without swapping too quickly and canceling the throw animation). I definitely think being able to stay mobile with my team and hit one button to instantly restore health and then go back to shooting won't be nearly as good.
It'll also be a lot harder to camp behind a rock or in an attic sitting on my ammo and health boxes! Don't need a demo to tell you that is some bullshit.

This why I said that a few pages ago about the whole "hur I'm gonna slide tacke and oh shi-- *minigun fire*" deal. It's really more a surprise takedown, or so the vids lead me to believe.

The buffs in Brink look very convenient. There's a certain range that buffs can be thrown, and the closest ally within that range will be outlined and an Ark icon appears on him. Press the buff button, and your character unerringly throws the buff to that ally without affecting his own aim. You may have to maneuver to get the right ally in range, but it seems easier to save an injured teammate this way then to attract his attention to medkits on the ground.

I particularly like that the downed player can use the revive kit whenever they want. If you throw one to a fellow medic, they can wait for the enemies to walk away, they get up, then get you up, or another class could wait for the enemy to turn around, before jumping up and kicking them in the face.

I just hope that if Splash Damage ever begin selling items, they'll try doing it in some way that is new and interesting.
Rewatched it (around the 2 minute mark), and yeah, it does use a supply pip. I hope the ability bar is less obtrusive in the PC version.

This is a lie. The only map TF2 ever had was 2fort according to my server browser.
