Is the PA server going up any time soon? I'd rather play with you all than pubs.
Also Page- I dunno if you care but the gun I'm using (the 15 shot semi auto) will kill dudes in a solid 2-4 hits depending on headshots. People die pretty fast as long as you can aim.
Having freezing / crashing issues at in-game menus. Very choppy performance. Changing settings doesn't affect the choppy. Don't know how to check fps for exact differences though.
I'm using an HD 5850 and it should be great. I've tried Catalyst 11.4, 11.5, and 11.5a hotfix and it's no dice.
Though on the steampowered forums I've read someone with the same card saying it ran smoothly for them with the 11.5a hotfix. Maybe my dual-core processor is holding me back? It's a 3.0ghz core 2 duo E8400 Wolfdale.
It ran OK on my mine with an i5 processor but I would occassionally get some fairly serious glitching for a few seconds that would eventually resolve itself. This is with the 11.5a drives (and an HD 5850 natch).
As for the dedicated servers, gameservers seems to be having some issues. The servers are finally "up" but no one can connect to them. Hilarity ensues.
Damn, that sounds like pretty much exactly my rig, too (Intel i5 750, Radeon HD 5850, 4GB RAM).
Kinda regretting not taking advantage of the international release gap and seeing the impressions of others before preordering the day before AU release. Oh well. Hopefully this turns out like BF BC2, which was kind of ass on PC until being patched up to feeling like a natively-developed game.
I've only played a bit (an hour tops), but here are a few impressions. Gameplay seems pretty fun. Weird bug where my sound would cut out unless I quit to main menu. Happened several times. I think it was a default option that mutes the game when it loses focus (even though I didn't). I can't find any servers all of a sudden. Might be me I guess? Art is amazing of course.
Performance is good, but my computer is new as balls.
The game feels pretty hard to navigate. There's a lot going on. I'm still not sure how to change my class in game. Can't figure out how to voice chat, or if I even can. Can't figure out a whole lot of things. There is just a lot of stuff crammed in for a high paced shooter.
Game ran semi-OK on my 3 year old laptop (HD 3650 or something?) I only hopped into it for a few minutes. Hopefully I don't have any issues when I get it home.
As far as the IGN goes, he basically spends the entire time complaining about shitty bots and the single player. I wouldn't give much credence to a review at this point, it doesn't seem that they really had an opportunity to play it online.

I think they would have gotten better review scores if they focused on it as a multiplayer game (like TF2) rather than going on about all this blending SP/MP crap. Anyone who gives a damn about this type of game will play it online only (except challenges). Showing it to reviewers should have consisted of getting groups of them together with game devs to play 16 player multi through campaign missions.

How do I start the online story mode without hosting a server myself? Or is that even possible?
basically this is the mode I'm trying to access:
Each mode can be played entirely online 8v8, meaning that your campaign will be played against real people who are playing their version of the campaign against you. If you are at a point in your campaign, (online) and you lose the battle, you will be reconnected to a new server with players at the same part as you and you can try again, while the winners remain to fight the next battle. I guess you can think of it as, “Losers walk.”
I want to play the story in order and see the cutscenes, but I want to play with people and not bots.

Agreed, a game like this shouldn't really bother with single player outside of a story that gives you reason to fight. I would really prefer if it was put out as a direct download on PSN/360 and they sold it for like 40$ rather than 60$ and cut back on the single player stuff to save money.
So this game is pretty amazing. Aside from the fact that every now and then my screen turns blue for some reason. Thought it had something to do with resolution but apparently not. I've tinkered with the (very limited) graphical settings but to no avail :[
I agree that the bots are probably dragging down the review score a good bit, but I think "multiplayer only" games tend to be dealt with harshly as well, so it might be a worse tradeoff.
The real answer is "make the bots better" or at least make the bots on your side better than the ones you're fighting against.
I seriously don't get the shit reviews. If you like the 2 previous Enemy Territory games, you will like this. If you liked the recent Shadowrun, you should like this. If you like Team Fortress 2, you really need to give this a shot.
As my friend kept saying today, this game has more maps and variety than TF2 had at launch. look at all the high praise that all-mighty valve game got. whatever.
This game rocks. Runs flawlessly for me, though my pc is only 2 weeks old and is pretty uber.
So far i'm loving the Eurogamer review the most. Seems like they can see through the nitpicking BS and see the great game that it is.
I just want to thank all the asshat critics that will now cause this game to sell poorly, and ruin the chances for a potential new franchise. thanks dicks!

Always knew that was hype-y bullshit
The "story" consists of characters you don't know or care about talking about the mission objectives of the next map, and also your dude appears in the background of the cutscene, and then you play a multiplayer match and maybe there's a couple cutscenes interspersed during the match
That's it
You know what's another shooter that blended single player and multiplayer? Mindjack
ok, after watching some of the livestream and seeing some positive first impressions posted here I am very optimistic for the game and super excited to play it tomorrow. I just hope fedex delivers it before I have to go to work so I can sqeeze like an hour or two in.

Wouldn't matter. It's not even a real singleplayer campaign -- just the same game as multi except with bots.

Glad it helped you out, Copper plays with the PA people so its a bit better then some random playing it and being a CoD twink.

playing this offline is akin to playing L4D by yourself, you're doing it wrong dude
So if you play the campaign missions online is it against bots or people, and if you fail do you just run it again until you win?
I've been asking how to play the campaign missions against people here in this thread, on the steam forums, and in the PA Brink group chat. Nobody has responded anywhere.
I am becoming worried that playing the campaign online was removed from the game.

At least it allows you to learn how the game and maps work without the pressure of online, which can't be said about something like Bad Company 2. Like seriously, you wanna learn how to fly a helicopter in that game? Fucking get online and crash that gunship a few dozen times while your team rages at you.
Plus I guess you have to do some challenges to unlock weapons attachments anyway.
edit: apparently you can do the challenges with other players anyway, so n/m about that.

The single player and the multiplayer are the same thing with the exception of who you play against, so what you do online is the campaign.

I click campaign. The only thing it gives me the option of doing is hosting my own game and inviting friends to play on my team.

I don't have access to the game right now, but maybe there isn't a way to play other people under what they call "campaign" but the multiplayer modes are the exact same maps and exact same content, so it is essentially the campaign with other people----it may just not be called that.

- Dangerously in need of a patch on PC. FPS issues and MP issues.

jacked the resolution down to something ridiculously low, all settings lowest... 25fps during non-action sequences.

similar thing to other people in this thread... hd5850, i7 cpu, 6gigs of (nice) RAM... no reason this thing shouldn't be running more than reasonably.
