I'm moving to a new apartment. It's kind of pathetic how little I have to pack. Five pieces of furniture, a big TV, and maybe six cardboard boxes of stuff, not counting clothes. Still, it's a big chore, and I've lived in this current house with the same roommate for almost five years.
I'm just moving across town to a nice apartment with a different buddy, so we're cutting a lot of corners--we don't have to box up the art and appliances and stuff. (It helps that I own one (1) painting and I'm not bringing any appliances!)

I went outside a few hours ago. That counts as moving, right?
I moved in two months ago. The sum total of my possessions though was about three cases (of mostly clothes) and a box full of games, books and Blurays.
Buying furniture is terrifying. I need a coffee table.

My best friend who I'm hoping to live with called me an hour ago with news that he may have found a place for us. The agent/manager of his improv troupe has to move out of her place so she's keeping it at a pretty low place. From what I gathered there are certain pros & cons...
Cons
It is a studio area with no real walls anywhere.
Pros
It is relatively cheap.
It has a zip line built in from the second level to the first level.
There is an area in the apartment which has a stage & can fit 30 people for a performance.

i moved
had to change locks twice times in the first few weeks
Tonight one of the handles on our bathroom faucet broke off, spraying hot water all over the bathroom (and some on the bedroom floor)
We've stopped the water flow and cleaned up, and I'm talking to the people first thing tomorrow about getting it fixed. Thankfully this place is really good about getting on stuff quickly. Even when it's relatively minor stuff they generally get over to us in an hour at most, so I'm thinking this should be all fixed fairly quickly.
Still, it freaking blows that it happened at 9 at night when there's nobody to contact about it.
i just told a co worker of mine, tonight, that i didn't want to live with him
i felt like i was breaking up with him! i hope he doesnt stay mad at me because he is a fine dude, i just think living with him would be bad.
if you don't think you would want to live with somebody, i don't think that it would be offensive at all to tell them so. i mean, you're living with them. no point in making yourselves miserable if it doesn't work out.
and on that note, my parents (or my mom at least) are terribly offended that i said i never want to live with them again. meaning that, by the time i get out of college, i will do my damndest to stay the fuck out of their house except to visit.

Yeah definitely don't feel bad for being honest with somebody about not wanting to live with them. You can be best friends with someone and also be the worst possible candidates for roommates. It's not about how well you get along, it's about your living habits and preferences. I learned this lesson the hard way with a great friend a long time ago--by the time we moved out of the house we shared, we almost hated each other. We just weren't compatible.

I'll need to see it in person first (the best friend also threw out the idea of having five-six people living there which I am not for...) but I really like the idea of that stage area for performances & such.

I'm trying to move right now but trying to get more than 1 of my friends in one place at the same time is like herding cats apparently.
The gay hipster couple that just moved in down the hall and was always being noisy and stinking up the whole floor with weed, they got kicked out, and their futon frame, which is actually a pretty nice frame, is just chilling out in the hallway right now. Come & get it, I'll buzz you in.
I'm moving from my current tiny one bed flat to a much larger two bed maisonette in Surrey as soon as the previous tenant moves out. Looks to be like I'm moving on the 7th but who knows.
The complication is that I'm working in that area from the 3rd and don't have anywhere nearby to live
I HATE MOVING
GRUNT
I moved THREE TIMES last year.
So did I!
Well, technically, I moved into an apartment, and then back to my Mom's house, and then into another apartment in the same complex as the previous one, in the same year.
I've moved several times in my life so far, 9 or so, including emigration so I'm pretty blasé about the whole moving thing, my wife on the other hand has only moved twice so she's stressing out about every little detail.
I'll take a sleeping bag to work, it shows dedication and stuff!

We moved to Indiana 8 months ago and as soon as we have the money we're moving back to Florida.
Since 1994 I've moved 42 times between 5 states and about 8 cities.

I moved back in March. I have a tiny car and didn't want to rent a trailer or a van, though, so I still have things in a storage unit in my last town that I'm just letting sit for a while.

Wait, you want to move back to Florida? On purpose?
Man, I actually like Florida. I hate cold weather, and Fort Myers is a solid town. I grew up there for the most part (moved there from New York when I was 9) I have friends there. It's a good place to be.
Also, when you live in Terre Haute, Indiana almost anywhere is an improvement.

Seriously though, it's the only state with their own Fark tag for a reason. Just saying.

I use it as a good time to cleanse and start fresh. Get rid of all the bullshit and clutter you've collected and start fresh in a new space.
