it looks like i'm going to be moving back with my parents for (hopefully) a little bit in july
i feel like a worthless 20-something for doing it, but right now i can't afford living by myself without being completely stressed out all the time
plus, they've moved to a completely different area since i moved out of their (old) house, so it's not like i'm totally regressing.
unless some kind of miracle happens and I get a job straight out of grad school, I'll be staying with my parents for a little while next year too (as well as living with them most of this summer). we have a good relationship though - much MUCH better than high school - and I'm pretty sure my mom would be happy if I moved in foreeeever
I could too, DL. My mom reminds me often that if something were to ever happen, I have a place to go. But no.. too much stress. Though it'd probably be a bit less since one of my 2 sisters moved out.
Lost, same thing happened to me. Now that I don't live with them, I get along with my folks a bit more. Mine are only an hour or so away, so I meet up with them for dinner/lunch here and there.
Main reason I visit home is to see my good ol'dog
you get double highfives because the reason why i go visit my parents is to see my dog, and i've told my sister as much.
looking back on the time i spent living under my parent's roof made me realize they weren't really parents so much as a terrible example and a checkbook. which, at the end of the day, i'm grateful for. but i don't want any more of it than is necessary.

At least you get the checkbook. My parents are just terrible examples.

it has it's benefits. but in order for the checkbook to happen it meant that i rarely saw my mom for seven years.
edit: i don't wanna sound like a bitch, because i've had a pretty comfortable life, but my sister and i both agree that the fact we turned out relatively normal/successful was a goddamn miracle.

Moving is one of my least favorite activities for myself personally but I enjoy helping friends move. It's kind of fun lifting heavy shit and taking it to another location.
I don't know why or what part of my broken head likes this but oh well.

Of the 42 times I've moved in the past 16 years the first 35 or so were easy because I didn't own shit. Now I'm married with kids and have tons and tons of shit. Now it takes a bigass moving truck packed to the brim. I've moved across the country 5 times with all of my stuff fitting in the trunk and back seat of a car.

Half the fun of moving someone is drinking all their beer doing it.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
I'm looking at a house near campus with some friends on Friday, and I rather like the place even before stepping inside.
The main hang up I see is that online it's listed with "w/d hook up," and not with W/D. Bother bother bother
i'm never getting a place that doesn't have a washer/dryer again
it sucks not having them

seriously. My family moved into a duplex w/o a w/d after we sold our house in anchorage (preparing for the move down to WA). That year sucked. Many sundays spent at the laundromat.
I've made it a requirement of anyplace I live in to have a w/d.
Posts
Keith. Melding and I were talking about you.
yeah, okay.
If we go too you can hang out with Monty
He charges $10 an hour
Why do I have "reply to ancient posts" disease today

I may walk off a plane with only 3 suitcases full of my things and nothing else.
Aw yeah.
And helped 5 different friends move in the past 2 months
I'm tired
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
By which I mean I would steal Monty

washer/dryer
The washer is the heavy one. The dryer is mostly empty space.
Thankfully my mom has no problem letting me come over every few weeks to take care of the dirty laundry.
Bleeeegh
see the places i've moved in to have their own washer and dryer (twice)
but i've moved other people a shitload. the benefits of being strong and having a truck, i guess.
note: the only person i've ever been happy to help move was mysst.

Let me know if you find a couch! Something light-colored, perhaps beige?
