I get to move when my lease is up in a couple of months, because my landlord sold the building. Thinking about moving out of the city proper and into one of the tiny towns around it. I've found a couple of houses that rent for what my current apartment does. Only problem is gas prices right now; the main house I'm looking at would be like a half hour commute. On the other hand, I hate apartment living.

by "tiny towns" do you mean "housing developments"

Nope. I mean tiny, hick-ass South Carolina towns. The one I'll probably move to has a grand total of one stoplight.
Dishwashers seem pretty common to me too, but than it probably depends what area you are looking in. Of the 3 apartments I have been in so far in Atlanta, all have had dishwashers.
I just bought a new craigslist dryer since my old one broke. Guy who brought it was in a pimp minivan with these ugly ass chrome rims. Goes to get out and pulls out a walker. Needless to say, I did all the moving myself. Was not expecting that at all.
My lease is up in August and I feel I will be apartment hunting soon. I really like the layout of the apartment and the area, but the management and maintenance staff are just shit. Hopefully I can find a cool new place so I don't feel bad about moving.
I'm looking at a house near campus with some friends on Friday, and I rather like the place even before stepping inside.
The main hang up I see is that online it's listed with "w/d hook up," and not with W/D. Bother bother bother
i'm never getting a place that doesn't have a washer/dryer again
it sucks not having them

seriously. My family moved into a duplex w/o a w/d after we sold our house in anchorage (preparing for the move down to WA). That year sucked. Many sundays spent at the laundromat.
I've made it a requirement of anyplace I live in to have a w/d.
unfortunately my need for a w/d means that I will be condemned to paying ridiculous amounts of money for an apartment
OH
WELL

I actually rather like our apartment complex's laundry room
It's not too much hassle to run a few loads up and down the stairs, and because the machines are industrial I can a) wash more than one load in one machine and b) they don't take 2 hours to go through a cycle. Also, if they break they are fixed within the day, at no cost to me. Lastly, I can use 3-4 machines at the same time and get all my laundry for the week done in under 3 hours.

We have to move from our current 2x1 apartment when our lease is up in June because we can't afford this place any more.
We've been looking at smaller, 1x1 apartments to save money. There are some decent possibilities.
However, we've discovered there may be a good chance at getting a condo that's 2x1.5 or more, maybe townhouse style, maybe even a little fenced backyard, for less than the 1x1 apartments we've been looking at.

I own mine, and they're still in perfect working condition, so I can't stand the idea of having to sell them to move someplace without connections, and also have to deal with the inconvenience of using a laundry room. This blows however, because all of the totally super sweet apartments north of downtown that are within walking distance of a bunch of places are too old to have connections.
I've never given much thought to renting houses, but this time around, when I move in August, I might look into that, and hopefully that can help solve the problem.

I'd like to move out to Oregon, or Washington state. Maybe Florida. Anybody have thoughts on these places.

it shouldn't be too bad for this time around. after doing a bunch of budget calculating, i figure with a car i'll still have four grand or so
if i fly there and have my shit sent in beforehand it'd be significantly more coin in pocket so i could cover a deposit, get some cheap furniture and a tv, some internet
boom. finally able to nut in privacy. i have bad priorities
I like Florida so far. Been here a year. What area are you looking at?
I've got family in Tampa, and some good friends in Miami, but again work will ultimately dictate my destination.
Well, if work is the main priority, you would be better off searching in NW Washington. More jobs there from what I've seen. Especially the Seattle area. Western washington would be your best bet overall. I grew up there, and it's nice enough. Cost of living can be a bit pricey though.

I've heard a lot of good things about Seattle, and as long as my life there is a content one I should be able to deal with being broke all the time, and if it's not, well, I can always slink on down California way and spend the rest of my earthly existence stone out of my mind.
I like my dry heat too much to contemplate ever moving to Florida. And it's pretty hot today... sweating in the coolest spot in the apartment, here.
Also suspect there may be a gay porn studio operating out of this apartment complex. Just went to the laundry room to find a tall, ridiculously good-looking, dark-haired and bronzed ripped guy (in a white vest) doing his laundry. That brings the tally of good-looking, bronzed ripped guys doing laundry I've seen to three. And that's out a total... four people I've ever seen doing laundry, which doesn't include any women.

and then kill yourself
I have a friend that lives in Oregon but goes to school on the east coast.
She makes a lot of jokes about how Oregon never had any segregation laws because they never allowed any black people in to begin with.
I know very little about Oregon other than that.
Washington is a nice place to live depending on where you go. Are you thinking city or town size?

City I guess. I'll have to see where the work is, but if I could dig out a niche in small town I'd be happy as a clam.
