Whenever I see a tampon sitting in a toilet bowl, and this has happened repeatedly, there is a 50% chance that I will mistake it for some kind of bone. The red is the marrow, naturally. My brain says "My god, why is there a bone here?" for a split-fucking-second before I go :? and flush it.
What double-takes have you made, SE++? What are the interesting, unconventional, whimsical or horrifying double-takes you have made lately? Er, taken?
I have, on two occasions, seen an old car drive by me down a back-alley with no one driving it or sitting in it. It didn't strike me as strange until half a block later. I'm guessing there was someone really short inside.
Regardless of whether or not the kid actually did anything to give those charges merit
I will never understand why anyone thinks it's necessary, given the state of the kid.
I mean, even if the kid DID anything wrong, hasn't he already been punished plenty?
Is getting his head busted open so bad he needed brain surgery, and being forced to spend some time in the emergency room as a result, really not punishment enough? :?
He was at an unofficial and quite violent student rally where 12 police officers were injured, 6 of which needed to be hospitalised. I don't think that being injured in the course of such action lets you off.

He shouldn't have headbutted that nightstick.
Seriously. That night stick was three days from retirement.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

being injured while committing a crime doesn't mean you get off the hook? If he wasn't a part of the violence, then he shouldn't be charged, and he should be recompensed for his injuries and more. But it wasn't like that was some kind of peaceful sit in, a lot of people were hurt.

Anarchy in the UK is all fun and shit until you're clubbed in the head.
I was leaving a friend's house once, and to my left his mother was sitting on the couch watching TV. I looked to my right and his mother was at the kitchen sink. I had no idea what the fuck just happened. She got to the couch to the sink in the time it took me to turn my head?
Turns out my friend's mom has a twin and she was hanging out at the house.
I do double takes with sounds a lot. Makes me doubt my sanity.
I've always flushed the cardboard ones, never the plastic.
I thought it was just certain toilets that couldn't handle them or something. Like on the ferry, you're not supposed to
Few years ago, I was wandering around (being lost, as is my nature) international district. I decided I knew the general direction to go in for my destination and set off in it, my friends foolishly following my lead. Not wanting to disorient myself, I continued on a direct route, which included going down an alley.
In the alley was a man and a woman by a dumpster.
The man had a long jacket on and the woman was up against him.
I ignore them and walk past, making it to the street. I glance back and realize what I just walked past.
whoops!

Worked in a thrift store when I was younger, and as I was putting shirts on the rack I noticed a rather repugnant smell. Looked behind the racks and realized someone had taken an extremely large shit on the floor. Told the manager about it, said fuck no when he asked me to clean it up, then went out for a cigarette.

I didn't realize it was actually him until he said something loudly and I recognized his voice.
Kinda cool I guess.
