I can see how that is mistaken for a smile but it isn't. It's a grimace, her lips pulled out wide to each side. Also yay for explaining art.
If it were a grimace, she's be frowning.
I'm not gonna get into an argument about the angle we're looking at, let alone possible facial expressions people can have beyond smile, angry, and indifferent.
So is it a grimace, or is she experiencing some other emotion, then? Because if she was grimacing, she'd be frowning. I'm really a little amazed no one here can see the manipulation. Hell, her long hair's blowing.
I think you are projecting your sadistic fantasies on this video game woman.

Despite Sony's report of an Anonymous slogan found on a compromised SOE server, the hacking group denied responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to The Guardian. The group claimed that this hack, which resulted in the prolonged (and ongoing) outage of the PlayStation Network and the leak of data from millions of accounts, is not in keeping with Anonymous's MO of fighting organizations' criminal activities with hacks.
"Public support is not gained by stealing credit card info and personal identities," the statement reads. "We are trying to fight criminal activities by corporations and governments, not steal credit cards." The statement showed confidence in Anonymous's lack of involvement: "If a legitimate and honest investigation into the credit card is conducted, Anonymous will not be found liable. While we are a distributed and decentralized group, our 'leadership' does not condone credit card theft." Of course, the "intrusion" could still have been the work of someone who self-identifies as an Anonymous member; that very "distributed and decentralized" structure makes it difficult to identify officially sanctioned actions by those claiming affiliation.
Last month, during intermittent PSN outages, Anonymous issued a release saying that it would not attempt to take PSN down, because it did not want to "severely impact Sony customers."
Personally I am inclined to believe this, as it doesn't really sound like something they would do anyways. But yeah, certainly some random idiot could have considered himself doing it on their behalf or whatever.
Overall, I think blaming Anonymous is just too easy and vague of a scapegoat. You might as well say "Some Puerto Rican Guy" hacked them.

No, I'm just seeing the marketing department take pains to ensure Lara is "sexy" despite being roughed up. This thread usually finds marketing crap fascinating, right?
Oh well, I give up. In other news, SOE has found a way to make up for the server outage: hats!
Sony Online Entertainment plans to give all DC Universe Online players a free month and "Batman-Inspired mask" as compensation for the current outage. The company asked players on the game's Facebook page to bear with them as "the complexities of the subscription server dictate how and when this will be available" and that the company will be releasing "more information this week."
The outage is part of the overall PlayStation Network issue that resulted in SOE announcing earlier this week that 12,700 credit card numbers were taken and 24.6 million accounts were compromised. So, yeah, a free month and a virtual hat seems like a good start to an apology.
Admittedly the free month is exactly what they needed to do, but that hat comes off as insulting.

The hat is just dumb. How the hell is that Batman? That's like the "we need ideas for a ton of Batman toys so here are a billion different Batman suits and this one is super-futuristic robo-Batman!" Batman.
I personally find it weird that caking Lara up in dirt and blood is apparently OK, but when S-E does the same thing with Aya, it's horrible and creepy.

To be fair, Lara doesn't suffer "realistic clothing damage" (or whatever they called it) and wear french-maid outfits :P

This a 3rd Birthday thing? Where all the fan-clamouring got them to include some kind of shower scene?
Yes, creepy.

Also...I would think being out in the wilderness and such...raiding tombs...you might get somewhat dirty.
Unless...I guess the tomb has tomb keepers or something or there are nearby laundromats.
I remember at Eurogamer Expo '07, they were saying that being bought by Disney gave them a lot more security.
Tis a shame that things aren't going well for them.
This is an understandable thought to have, though it's completely wrong.
Disney bought the FX house that did the dragons for Reign of Fire. They built a massive office for them, with all kinds of ridiculous amenities, and what happened? They dropped the company. So not only did they waste a ton of money, they destroyed a company in the process. Those guys would have been better off had Disney not bought them.
Man, Legend and Underworld completely rekindled my love for TR and Lara Croft.
Can't wait for the reboot!
This is why I totally don't understand why they are rebooting it AGAIN. Those were good games. They were basically reboots themselves. Underworld only sold poorly because of shitty marketing and being released next to a ton of blockbusters in a very busy holiday season.
Not counting a Tomb Raider 2 demo, Underworld was my first game in the series and I could easily see why they're rebooting it again. The characters aren't even remotely interesting and the game itself feels like it should've been an early PS2 game. I'm playing through Legend right now (bought the Trilogy disc for really cheap) and I feel much the same.
That's why I'm looking forward to the reboot, because it sounds like something I'd actually buy at full price, not something I bought for dirt cheap because I was bored.
Personally I am inclined to believe this, as it doesn't really sound like something they would do anyways. But yeah, certainly some random idiot could have considered himself doing it on their behalf or whatever.

Uh, 'random idiot' pretty much describes everyone in Anonymous. I mean, that first part is the entire point of the group. There's no such thing as 'something they would do', they're not an organised group. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing.

Yeah, it's pretty clear they're banking on gamers finding her hotter with her hands dirty and boobs big but not impossible.
Sidenote: they're totally, totally right.
It's not that her boobs were impossible, it's that they were unlikely. Boobs like that do happen in nature, though not very often.
Of course it's a little annoying that big boobs = sex object (at least in the hack vidja game marketing world), since a person's appearance has nothing to do with their libido.
Yeah, it's pretty clear they're banking on straight, male gamers finding her hotter with her hands dirty and boobs big but not impossible.

Fix'd. I think she looks like a mess.
Hey now, don't exclude the lesbians
I'm 99.9% sure they are not banking on lebians finding her hot.
Well I certainly am!
Wait, what does banking mean again?
That they care about your delicious zenny. Let's be honest, the percent of their profits that may be coming from gaming lesbians will be very very low.
Hey, from where I'm looking, it feels more like a sculpted face-helment. Like something your character would put over his/her entire head. Weird.
Also, it's Batman, and he can breath in space.

Hey, tell you what - my ex girlfriend that left me to become full-time lesbian, I'll ask her what she thinks. Even then, it wouldn't make your statement anymore valid or invalid.
