Got a bit further into Brotherhood. Calling assassinistants is just the most wonderful power trip I've encountered in a game. LB is the only button that matters now.
It's nice for those missions where you MUST remain undetected. I felt a great deal of catharsis by having my henchmen doing the trickys murdering while I relaxed.

Completed Da Vinci Disappearance
Fibonacci's magic number is GPS coordinates? For New York state? What the fuck?
The official AC3 being set partly during the French Revolution. Apparently a relative of Napoleon and his family escaped to America and was hunted by assassins near a lake according to local lore.
I loved ACB's multiplayer when it first came out, but I booted it up yesterday and everyone's way too good for a schmuck like me to enjoy it. In particular, everyone seems to have figured out that stopping a pursuer is just a smoke bomb away...
Yeah, it does seem like pretty much everybody has smoke bombs now.
I used them a lot in 2 but in Brotherhood with the inclusion of you own personal death squad the courtesans, thieves and mercs all became sorta worthless.

That's kinda cool that they're adding the Rom in there. (I can't remember if I learned that Romani called themselves Rom in the White Wolf sourcebook or a NatGeo issue. Either way I still prefer it over Gypsy.)
Hey, I read a synopsis of Bloodlines, but I've found if for sale fairly cheap. Is it worth getting? (that's the PSP title for those that don't know.)
So once again I will hate myself for giving Gamestop my money when I always avoid doing so.
Any preorder from Gamestop gets automatically upgraded to the special edition. Extra single player area, 2 multiplayer characters, art book, soundtrack and a DVD of short films.
AND the Gabe drawn poster if preordered by July 8.

Ah the easy choice for me. PC excluded? Thanks Gamestop.
Also I'm officially done with Brotherhood for the time being. Game plus Da Vinci done so outside of collecting flags or 100% more missions to get the final Christina mission I'm pretty much done.
Da Vinci was a pretty good DLC. Quite long and very enjoyable.

One bit of Da Vinci Disappearance that I really liked was the mission where you have to stay off the rooftops to get full synch. Pursuing the guy at the end while he's leaping around and you're trying to get a clear shot at him made me realize how the guards must feel all the time.

Hey, I read a synopsis of Bloodlines, but I've found if for sale fairly cheap. Is it worth getting? (that's the PSP title for those that don't know.)
I'm mixed on Bloodlines. I got it off PSN for $20, so I didn't pay a lot of money for it, but I still feel like it underdelivered. First and foremost, Bloodlines proves that this franchise is one of the few that absolutely requires an HD console to pull off adequately. While Assassin's Creed is possible on the PSP, it may not be a very good idea. The vast cities are replaced by two small cities that are further divided into three-four tiny distracts each, with loading screens in between. The population is also almost nothing, so the cities feel more like mostly abandoned ghosttowns. Most of the buildings are only two stories tall as well, which cuts down on the vertical aspect of the game. It's both impressive that they pulled it off at all, much less as well as they did, but still profoundly disappointing at how much they had to cut out in order to do so. It's also incredibly short, as in 100% completion in 6-8 hours. That said, what the game does have is reasonably well designed and still quite fun.
In some ways it feels like a more direct sequel to AC than AC2 did. From the return of Altair as the protagonist to the HUD to the overall feel of the game it it very reminiscent of the original game (interesting, I thought Brotherhood also did surprisingly well at blending in a bit more of the feel of AC1 while maintaining all the awesome things that AC2 added). The missions have more variety and were more interesting, even if the game itself was far easier. Incidentally, you can transfer all your hidden blade upgrades from AC2 over; don't. The game is ridiculously easy as it is, those would be completely game-breaking in Bloodlines. Otherwise the story is adequate, but not nearly as interesting. Mostly it involves Mario running away, then being kidnapped, then being rescued/taken prisoner by Altair, then she runs away, then the whole cycle repeats. It does fill in some details of the codex and the bleeding effect scene from AC2, but it could have been considerably more than what it was.
I dunno. It's not a bad game by any stretch. I bought it off PSN for $20 before a business trip and beat it while I was out of town, so it was a great way to kill time while I was away from my wife. I certainly don't regret the purchase. But given how many sacrifices the game makes to fit on the PSP combined with the fact that the story (which is part of what makes the franchise so amazing) is rather disappointing, it's also hard to recommend. If you have to play it then do so, I don't think you'll be disappointed as long as you know what you're getting going into things. But if the synopsis was enough for you, then I'm not sure the game itself will add much.
I'm also a bit over 90% synced with Brotherhood. About the only thing I haven't done at this point are sequence 8 and 9 (all of them). Everything else is at 100% sync, all feathers, Borgia flags, and treasure chests collected. I also only just now discovered how astonishingly devastating the short weapons can be. They were fun diversions in the prior games, but with the addition of chain kills their high speed attacks turn Ezio into an absolute whirlwind of destruction. The hidden blade isn't bad, but the timing is unforgiving and the animations for the counter kills are pretty long. The short weapon, however, let me get well over 600 points on the long combo kill challenge.
Incidentally, is there any point to the virtual training missions? Particularly, is there any reason whatsoever to get gold medals in all of them? I don't mind tackling them (they're tough, but not impossible by any stretch), but there are enough that I don't feel like wasting my time if there's no reward in it.
Really? I don't think I ever would've got 100% sync in AssBro if I hadn't used them. They were a really easy way of following someone through guards, though it did get annoying when they'd also distract guards that were just walking past.
Never really used the mercs or thieves unless I was forced to though.

King Richard is probably the only person in the verse with a reasonable viewpoint presented other than 'faith is a lie and serves no purpose other than man's evil'.
The interesting thing is, they aren't lies, just real events with real people remembered wrong, but true in spirit in verse.
It doesn't really detract from the experience too much, because the AC universe is so batshit crazy no important person ever did anything with a Piece of Eden. So you have to expect these things.
So, I'm wishing the I hadn't started doing the Truth sections, even if it is fictional, there's some blatant political bias going on.
That's probably the most interesting thing I've ever heard about them... Go on...
For reals or are you taking the piss?
It's pretty clearly shown Capitalism in AC is a tool of Satan the Templars use to control us mindless slobs. Every capitalist/industrialist ever was a cackling Snidley Whiplash who were planning to steal our souls. It's pretty gung-ho about Communism too, the Bolshevik Revolution was backed by the Assassins after all. Not to mention all the Templar controled clergy who use religion to achieve their ends with the masses, despite being Athesists themselves.
But again, this is based off of every conspiracy building in the book, I'm surprised the Templars aren't behind 9/11 too.

Also I don't think its nearly that cut and dry. Pretty much everyone in powee, Democrat or republican, was a templar.
Assassins are the underdog. In history the underdog is more often than not the common man, the middle class. So of course they're backing the PEOPLE in the bolshivik revolution. Not communism.

I suppose, yet the Templars seem to be backing certain idealogies rather than parties.
Again, I don't take it too seriously. This is the same canon that had Hitler, FDR and Winston Fucking Churchill work together to mastermind World War II to get more power for the Templars.
As a note to how absurd that is, Churchill once said if Hitler invaded hell, he'd give passing praise to the Devil in Parliment.

Something someone pointed out on the SA forums that made a lot of sense
seriously, spoilers for ACR stuff
we know Ezio is going to be reliving Altair's memories in Revelations
if Altair encountered one of Those Who Came Before, Ezio's finally going to figure out why Minerva talked about Desmond in AC2

Does that really need explanation?
I thought it was established that THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE could see into the future to some extent and knew Desmond was the key, so they recorded stuff to speak directly to him, knowing he'd visit his blood memories.

The only bad dreams are ones that you don't make a reality.
I will miss the way Ezio says "Courtesans" though

the last one is in one of the Romulus tombs

The biggest shock to me (no pun intended) was looking up stuff and seeing how the Edison/Tesla stuff actually wasn't really embellished at all...
Edison was a bad dude.
Does that really need explanation?
it would be really crazy if he somehow got a view of the future like Minerva did, and started giving advice directly to Desmond himself
