Combat in AC is more balanced, but you can still break it easily with a large medicine pouch.
That being said, if I have to use medicine at all in a fight, I'm doing terrible. I've gotten 500 points now on kill streak training.
For the life of me, I cannot master the kill streak training. I can only ever get up to 7 kills max before some fucker stabs me in the back. I try to counter, even in the killing animation, but it does no good.
Short. Blade. I had a lot of trouble with this, then I tried using the Dagger of Brutus and proceeded to rip through enemies like crazy. I think I doubled the gold score without difficulty. And yeah, just watch for enemy attacks. They have crazy high priority, so the moment someone takes a swing you need to instantly counter. You can abort an attack into a counter, so don't be shy about those.
I think instead of a straight-up desync when you get caught, just have the sync meter be the stealth meter. You lose sync if detected so you have to fight at 40% or whatever, so stealth is still encouraged and you get extra challenge in fights.
Just recently got Brotherhood and it's pretty great. But you probably all know that already.
Other than using abilities, is there some secret trick to telling players and NPCs from each other in multiplayer? While playing one of the team modes, like three times in a row I was standing right next to an NPC lookalike when another player just ran up and murdered me.
Line of sight and movement patterns are crucial to identifying player characters. Strategic use of corners can usually help you narrow it down to one or two out of a group. If your target's in a moving blend group, he's probably in the rear position--players tend to drift there for some reason unless they are actively moving around.
Finally, firecrackers and templar vision are useful as last-ditch measures. They expose you immediately, but give you a brief opening to snag the kill.

Okay, AC: Brotherhood found the secret to making me end my play sessions: 100% sync challenges. That's right.. having to do these missions without being detected, but having it be OPTIONAL, is gonna kick my ass as I probe their defenses and try to figure out what to do next. Granted, storming a castle without any projectiles was a bad idea, but still.
Yeah there's templar vision. Other than that he might've already had you in his sights and saw you moving around like a player beforehand. Or with the radar and having only 2 similar characters next to each other some players will just take the 50% chance for a kill.

Yeah, I figured out most of that and in the cases that really confused me I had been standing still for a while. I guess it might have been templar vision.
Oh, and is there an easy way to know when you can get to certain Borgia towers? I'd mostly like to just clear all of them, but apparently I'm not allowed to do that.

The last three towers unlock in memory... 7 I think.
EDIT: I could be wrong and it might be memory 6, I kinda breezed through that one not realizing it's only like 3 events long or something and I didn't do any side content (I'm a sucker for damsel in distress missions).
Who the hell designed the matchmaking system for Brotherhood and decided that it's ever okay to split up a group. I'm trying to play with someone else and the system is not making it easy.

Yeah, it is not the best ever. You have to play a Ranked match to stay with your team, in Player matches you can get split. Play Now can put you in either type of match.

Well, that's quite the problem if you want to play either of the free for all modes with friends. We did eventually get into the same game and played for a bit. I also got to try out the assassination mode and I have to say I wastly prefer the more structured modes.
I think the crossbow is one of my favorite new things in Brotherhood. Ranged, instant stealth kills? HELL YES!
Also, I'm thinking I missed something at some point. Right at the beginning of sequence 8 in Brotherhood.
I get out of the animus and talk to Lucy. Desmond asks Lucy when the templar satelite launch is. And I have no idea what he's talking about. What's this about a templar satelite?

I was sort of mystified about that, too. The AC Wiki says
the Templars are planning on putting a Piece of Eden into orbit to ensure "absolute peace", which would be bad.
That was the main plot in AC1 - the templars used Desmond to access Altair's memories to find out where the piece of eden is hidden so they can put it in the satelite

Well, I remember the map Altaïr sees at the end and the Abstergo guys saying they've got the position. I don't remember any shit about any satelites. And why would they even want to tell Desmond about that? And wouldn't it have made sense to bring it up at some point during 2?
I guess there might have been a conversation I missed, as when I went out of animus at the start of the previous sequence, I couldn't find Lucy anywhere.
I don't think I realized you could talk to Lucy in AC1 and what emails?
If you exit the Animus in AssBro, you can get on Desmond's laptop and read your email (and, after some mystery person sends you the credentials, Lucy, Rebecca, and Shaun's emails, too)
I don't think I realized you could talk to Lucy in AC1 and what emails?
In AC1, there's a couple things you're meant to do every time you get out of the animus, before you go to sleep for the day. There's a couple conversations with Lucy every day (you just walk up to her and hit a button). There's also a bunch of mischief you're supposed to get up to. Early on, you notice someone keeps leaving your door unlocked, so you can get out and roam around the animus room. There's a conversation between Lucy and Vidic that you can eavesdrop on one of the days. Another day, Lucy leaves her cyberpen thing on the animus, and that allows you to access her email account. You have to pickpocket Vidic's pen from his coat to get access to his email at one point. In the emails, there's a whole subplot about Lucy investigating one of the lab techs that gets fired for something related to an animus subject that killed himself (subject 16), and a bunch of other stuff about the state of the world, including the plans for vaguely defined artifact that screws with people's minds which you will later learn is the apple.
If you miss out on the emails in AC1, you miss out on most of the story of that game, but that whole subplot is one of the reasons I think I liked the first game more than the second. It defined the pace of the experience in a way that the second game really lacked.
Yeah, I know about the emails in Brotherhood, but I completely missed everything about AC1 that Monger is mentioning. For example, I thought Subject 16 was introduced in 2.
Is there anywhere convenient to read all this stuff? Because I don't really feel like replaying 1 for the out-of-animus stuff.
About the murdering in multi: the Charge ability, if used correctly auto targets a player in a crowd.
It will also automatically stun your pursuer, as long as you have a half-second running start and they're not also charging. It's easily one of my favorite abilities in the free-for-all game modes.

I'm sure that all the Lucy conversations are on youtube, but I don't know where. I remember a lot of it being background information on Desmond and such.
Turns out that if you quit the game during Brotherhood's rather lengthy, unskippable, credits sequence, you're put back before the last scene when starting the game again.
I guess I can watch the Desmond trailer for Revelations without fear for spoilers now. AC endings still a big WTF. Can't wait to see how they top this one.
Decided to try AssBro's multiplayer tonight. Only managed to find one match (I really should have started earlier). Unfortunately I can't say I really enjoyed it. Decided to try Manhunt, thinking that a team might help me break into it, but my team was mostly new people and the enemy team had two veteran players, both of which were rocking Smoke Bomb which currently seems a tad ridiculous. Comparatively I don't even know what shit I have at level one, if anything.
I was left kind of wishing the tutorial wasn't so bare bones. I mean, the tutorial did not even tell me how to stun someone. I learned that from a loading screen. Not that it would help much, seems most of my deaths were from people lunging off rooftops.
Edit: I should say, due to the lacking tutorial, anyone have any tips?
Answer the question plainly, don't speak smart to me, small thing.
There's a first time for everything!
Somehow I doubt it's the first time someone's been smart with you on the Internet.
But hey, I checked Wikipedia for you and it says it's coming out on PC at the same time as 360 and PS3. If only you'd been the one to do that, maybe you could have come up with a really clever comeback about how I was wrong. 8-)

I care not for the prattling of small things that can be clever behind wires and screens. You have performed your task adequately and for that you shall receive a nod.

It's generally better to be stealthy, no running across the map or jumping across rooftops. You get more points when your target doesn't know you're going to kill him. That being said, you'll get games where everyone goes on the roof. Sometimes when that happens I'll play defensively, I stick to one spot and let my pursuer come after me. Smoke bomb, stun, they're done. Your target will probably come around sooner or later, then you can go after him and get more points. It's not a fast paced killing game like BLOPS, you're rewarded for being patient.
It kind of sucks until you have smoke bombs though, luckily they unlock somewhat early.

Oh, I realize it's about stealth. I was generally being pretty discreet I thought, but not enough evidently. I just played another match where I was much calmer and more discreet. Unfortunately this lead to my target getting killed several times as I was approaching them.
This match really also cemented my hatred for Smoke Bombs after I realized you cannot touch the goddamn cloud even after the bomb's already gone out. I kept getting contracts to kill the most experienced player, who, lo and behold, had smoke bombs equipped. And even after they had, I thought, wasted them, I was treated to my character being stunned by touching the dissipating cloud of smoke. Is there anything that counters these things? I mean, sure I can eventually get them, but having to equip smoke bombs to compete seems silly. Particularly since I haven't leveled to two yet.
