I hate the chromification of Firefox, can someone help me out?
This picture explains one of the problems I have with FF 4.0:
As you can see I want my tabs on the bottom without it looking horribly misdesigned.
If anyone could help me out by designing a new plugin or perhaps pointing me to one then I'd be very grateful. I have version 4.0.1 of FF and am currently using the Classic Compact theme, 4.0.8, and Classic Compact Options, 4.0.8.
I'm still discovering new things with FF 4.0 but my experience with it at the moment is that it's a shitty chrome clone and I hope they haven't messed up any other areas in order to look more like Chrome.
Yeah, that's not my problem.
When you move tabs to below of the address bar you end up with tabs looking horribly out of place - with rounded corners towards the address bar instead of away from the address bar.
Look closer at the pic in the OP and you'll see what I'm talking about.

You could take two minutes and get used to having the tabs at the top, which actually kind of makes more sense.
It doesn't to me.
I'm an avid tab user, and often end up with twenty different tabs or so at all times.
I often jump back and forth between tabs so having them at the bottom and closer to the window of activity makes a lot more sense to me.
It's good for just browsing but not being able to open downloads without saving them is bullshit so I am pretty happy with a Firefox 4.0 that has incorporated a lot of Chrome's features and returns me to the freedom of opening downloads. I get like 20 notifications on .PDF a day and I was getting tired of saving them all to my desktop and deleting them.

Fixed OP pic to make what I want clearer.
But in terms of access it's easier because you don't need to control your vertical pixel space. You just need to drag the mouse up and not worry about how precise it is.

I'm sure moving the cursor that extra centimeter won't dramatically cut down on your porn browsing speed

I spend more time navigating my tab bar then using the address bar.
It makes sense to have the bar that I use the most closer to the centre of the screen and field of activity.

Is this really a problem about an extra mm of mouse movement?

why are you asking us to develop a plugin for firefox?

if you really need help you should try the guys at alt.fan.jerkcity.
Yeah, you're right. I really should have posted this in the help forum (was considering posting it in the hardware forum but I thought it'd be out of place).
If a mod could move the thread there it'd be great.

Because it's in a specific vertical space.
As opposed to just dragging it up and not caring where your mouse lands vertically.
As this is what you do the most of, this is more efficent.

Use ctrl+tab to switch between tabs.
I don't know why people use the mouse for things that are easily achieved with keyboard shortcuts. Do you also go down to your task bar to switch between windows? Are you 65 years old?
I have the strange urge to go buy something from Ikea now.
Ikea is pretty rad. We have a few items from them and are highly satisfied.
The TV shelf thing we got from them is the only thing we've ever found that has enough space for all our game systems, wasn't expensive, and wasn't crazy ornate. It's a pretty nice, simple piece of furniture.
Our coffee table from Ikea is also super rad. The table slides apart and open from the middle to reveal storage space right underneath. All our controllers are there. It's quite handy.

I think Blake is referring to Chrome, where the tabs are against the top of the screen so you can just jam your mouse up there and not have to be precise about when you stop, which was the purpose of the design. It looks like Firefox has emulated the upward facing tabs without taking that aspect into account.
Edit: Oh hey, there was another page there with clarification, whoops

It takes a couple of seconds for me to use ctrl+tab to move from tab 1 to tab 12.
Why use the slower keyboard shortcut when a mouse will be so much faster?

But I am also used to having the tab bar at the bottom so my mouse movement is far from careless. Subconsciously I always end up moving it to that specific vertical height because that's how I've been conditioned.
I suppose I could recondition myself but why would I when there is probably a software solution to this problem and when it demands more movement when the tab bar is one step further away from the screen of activity?
EDIT: Saw what Ten wrote. I suppose it would be easier if the tabs where at the very top, yeah.
But that's not how Firefox does it as you can see in the OP pic.
Right now the tabs end up in the middle, so I still have to be precise (and perhaps even more so) when moving my mouse vertically to it.

I think it makes more sense to have the address bar under the tabs since the address changes when the tab does. That said, it took me a little while to get used to it in Opera, which was my first tabs-on-top browser.
I don't think I could switch back to Firefox or Opera at this point, though. Chrome's just too fast.
Edit: ctrl+shift+tab moves you backwards
Double edit: There is already a software solution to your problem. You just don't like the way it looks.

I think you missed his point entirely.
If you have hardware questions, the off topic forum of Penny Arcade is your clear choice. For browser software questions though, I would think the Advice forum for Dinosaur Comics or perhaps the Help Desk section of the Jerkcity forums.

Yep.
Apparently IE9 is not too shabby (for a change). I wonder how it'll handle all the stuff that was designed for IE5.5/6's hideous quirks.
