I think the only thing that frustrates me is that I need online to get better at fighting games. It's difficult, at best, for me to get places, so I need it to level up.
Kind of kills my desire to play if the online isn't up to snuff.
And I like the game! /whine
Go back to eviscerating people in MvC3! I could have a chance if you don't like this game. :P
Otherwise, I'm on nights if you want someone to spar, that and Red if he EVER STOPS PLAYING HOCKEY AND WRESTLING!
Are I ever see you play is Culdcept, and there are no fatalities in that.
...though it would be pretty awesome if there were.
Pfftt that was last night, that's me and the misses 'go-to' game before she crashes at 10-11. I usually play MK for hours after that. :P
Speaking of, that's an awesome game, you should play it.
Just hit me up as usual Biz, I wouldn't mind beating you up while I can.

I'm pleased to have found someone who would play hidden cursor random select with me, even if he did kick my ass most of the time. Funniest match was cyrax v cyrax, so many double nets.
I hope the store comes back up before the online trial ends.
I like how this game has a tutorial, but still wish it had a manual or could at least tell me how stringing anything together is suppose to work.
I'm pretty lost past the kombos in the menu, which are ridiculously named (not it a bad way).
Ive seen the computer pull together some stuff, and I have no idea whats going on, while I mash buttons or do the occasional special or EX special move.
Big combos are generally done by juggles. So you need to find your move that sets those up. Some characters have normal moves that can set up juggles like Scorpion, Some have specials that can set up juggles like Kung Lao, and some are screwed like Baraka.
I have a long history of liking terrible characters. In fact even among the few I do like that are good Akuma, Taskmaster (MvC3), Ermac (MK9), Guile (SSFIV), Hakumen (BB:CS) the last two were terrible in the versions of the games I initially picked them up in. I'm pretty well used to bad characters. Actually, with the recent update to BB:CS2 I don't know if Hakumen is still good. Oh ... maybe Tsubaki will be good now. I need to look into this.

I'm playing this for the first time, and I'm blown away by the quality. They were not fucking around bringing this game back. I might have to purchase it.
I used to own all the MK games...until the first Marvel vs Capcom came out (I never saw X-men vs Street Fighter before.)
I still think big effing lasers is better than gore, but close matches are better than some douche doing an infinite on you and yelling SCOOPS HAGGEN DAAZ

Just out of curiosity Barrabas, if you play Guile in SSF4, why don't you play Kano in MK?
I mean they have similarities. I'm not putting you on blast, I'm just curious.
Also I have software to sort out tournament brackets now. Shit is getting real, folks.
I finally bumped my account back up to gold so I can play later. I'm back to using my old 360 pad though, a lot of the times button presses don't register correctly
I have delayed picking a main as I work on arcade, story, the krypt and the challenge tower. Now that I'm done (Except for 4 levels of the challenge tower that I skipped with koins, cause fuck fighting 3 Shao Khans), I need to venture into the online, but I need to get better. Honda was my guy in SFIV, and I am really liking Kano here, so I think I am going to go with him.

Sub-Zero is such an uphill struggle versus Kano.
Mostly because you cannot do a damn thing about that fucking slide except Kanoball.
What the hell LCD you have this for PS3 and not 360?
I know, I know. It was an impulsive maneuver led on by my desire to A) play with a decent D-pad and keep it out of "my son's" Xbox.
You see, he has somewhat commandeered the 360. We have confirmed with extensive genetic testing that he is, in fact, spoiled at the DNA-level, but we have maintained thus far that the PS3 is "daddy's and only daddy's" toy. And seeing as that I'm not too keen on the idea of letting him play something like MK, it felt like a good idea. At the time.
Alright I took some advice and tried Kano. I like him a lot. As someone who uses a stick the kanoball is the fastest easiest on reaction punish tool I've ever seen in a fighting game. Also it seems his main 3 hit string has a headbutt in the middle of it. How can one not like that? I also like that he's a keep away character that also becomes super dangerous to be close to when his meter is full.
I just wish I wasn't so terrible at combos that involve dashes in them online. I can already do a couple cool things in practice mode but online it all goes to hell.

Yeah I like to call that his mosh string. Kano be headbanging!
You can link three of those together and end in a diagonal Kanoball or regular Kanoball too. Or you can start off with back+FP > FP > BP for slightly more damage.
Oh and his overhead is blissful because it has pretty good follow-up options for creating space, both of which can be komboed into with Kanoballs or throttle.
Edit: You in for tournament shenanigans, Barrabas? If you said yes I totally missed it.

edit: I think the list you're looking at is general people who are playing the game and not a tournament list. That is if you're looking in the OP under the "kombatants" drop down list.
In a related note, how many people are in for this tournament so far?

With your inclusion, 7 for Xbox tournament, and a measly 3 for the PS3 tournament. Still a fair few days to go though.
I'm really siding with best 2 out of 3, double elimination bracket, so if someone gets knocked out in round 1 they're not going to miss out on the whole thing and will have another crack at it. Plus, more games, more fun for everyone.
And yes those gamertag/PSN lists are for people in general. Seperated the list out to help clarify shit for people.
I'd love to do the PS3 tournie, but it's unlikely that it'll be over before the 25th, no?
Well I'd like the tourneys to start next week, keeping this week open for sign-ups up until friday. That gives me Saturday and Sunday to A) Work, and Finalise the brackets (even though they're actually being updated as and when a new challenger enters the ring, because homey got this shit organised, or some such bollocks).
I don't see why a 4man bracket can't be done within an hour.
Which again would be great, but with the sign-ups being until Friday I have no clue how many will join up. I guess it's a wait-and-see thing, but it's entirely feasible for the PS3 tourney to have really, really low turnout and be doable in a single night. At this rate, anyway. Probably the same goes for the Xbox 360 tournament if sign-ups crawl to a halt.
The main issue with trying to do them in one night is finding a time everyone can meet. I'm pretty sure every PA team tournament I've seen started has failed for similar reasons.

When you're playing as Kitana, another woman appears shackled to the columns wearing a yellow outfit. Who's that?
And Baraka is Captain Screwed of the You-Suck Boys.
I took my system to a party this weekend and I think Baraka only came up twice and people realized how bad he was and never picked him again.
I play Ermac and Sub Zero. A character being bad in Mortal Kombat easily stops me from playing them even if I like them.

It's why m. Ross picked him up.
And he has the best fatality in the game, and it requires one button. Walk up and choke them out
