how many of these tournaments have worked out in, like, 4 years of threads
I can remember at least three tournaments running pretty well. One at the very least, because I ran it.
Main reasons I didn't sign up for this one are because I don't really like flat battles and because I haven't been playing Pokemon lately anyway (half because of how bad flat battles are, half because of fighting games).
It's show six, choose three, so you only really need to train three! The other three can be just to look scary on the poke selection screen so who cares about the stats, as long as they're level 50 or over and holding something, they're good to go.

I'm ready to go! Well, mostly. I'm putting the finishing touches one last pokemon and grabbing an item or two from the battle subway. I hope it works out. Otherwise, I'll have this totally badass team for squashing people on the GTS.

Sorry, that's just not enough to have decent coverage.
Flat battles aren't really as bad as they look. They're just different and you need to have more specialization. It also features less stall.

I'm trying to encourage participants in a for funsies tourney, no need to get all super cereal about it :P

Oh, sorry. I've been playing too seriously lately. I need to lighten up, yeah.
Just double checking but I after an EV gets to the max it just "caps out" right? Meaning if I killed a couple extra pokes of the desired EV accidently I won't cheat myself from anything in the other stat i want to EV train?
As long as that is okay I'm about halfway through EV training I think the first poke I've raised up myself. The power items guaranteeing a pass down is really nice!
Rather than hear me analyze it, just watch the battle video I uploaded. It’s intense!

How do you watch this?
EDIT: Never mind, found it. Talk to Global chick at the back of the Pokemon Center.
So, awesome right?? That Dark Gem totally shut down my stall tactics with Renucleus before I could even start though.
I hope to enter the tourny. I'm gonna figure out my team tonight and send them in tomorrow. An announced prize would probably be a good incentive to get others in on it.
So like, my friend has this shiny Emboar, that he swears he hatched, but it has different OT and is in goddamned Friend Ball. He says he bred it from a normal Tepig he got over GTS, which had a different OT from what is on the current Emboar(Ricky, and Ricardo lol). What on earth kind of hack is this?

Hacked as hell. Starters should always be in pokeballs (unless there's maybe a special event ball or something)
Yeah was telling him that myself. We figured he should probably release it to be safe. He was so proud to have a shiny too. At least he'll have the shiny dex entry to look back on!

How does iv inheritance work? if I breed a jolly Archen with an everstone and a ditto with a power whatever (the one that passes on attack) will I eventually get one that has perfect attack and just inherit perfect speed from the Ditto, or what?
Event Pokémon always come in a Cherish Ball. Also, aside from Shiny Pichu (and its evos), Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Eevee (and its evos), and Milotic, there should not be any shiny event Pokémon. (Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head that are official released shinies.)
Also, Friend Balls are exclusive to HeartGold/SoulSilver since it's a Poké Ball made from a Grn Apricorn. It's impossible to have a Tepig (let alone a shiny one) be in a Friend Ball.
Before you release it, at least evolve it into Pignite and Emboar so you can record the shiny forms for each.

It will pass on the IV of the holder of the Power item for the corresponding stat. If you want your Archen to have perfect Speed, you better have a Ditto that also has a perfect speed IV and have it hold the Power Anklet.
Everstone only has the chance of passing down the nature of the Pokémon holding it. So, in your case, you can possibly have a Jolly Archen, and if the Ditto you're breeding it with also has a perfect Speed IV, then the Jolly Archen offspring may inherit this. If the Archen you're breeding from has a perfect Attack IV, you'll want it to hold the Power Bracer for a chance to have the offspring inherit both perfect IVs. However, the drawback is that you no longer have the chance to control what nature it is without the Everstone since each Pokémon can only hold one item. There is the slight chance that it may pass down the perfect IVs with only one of the Power items, but this is more likely to happen when breeding from the offspring itself instead of the original Archen.

Three IVs at random are chosen from the parents, the other three are entirely randomly generated. Power [item] forces one of the inherited ivs to be from that parent. Everstone is unrelated to IVs and gives a 50% chance of passing on nature.
So in your above case the offspring would be 50% jolly and 100% with the attack IV of the Ditto. The speed IV has a 60% chance to be entirely random, a 20% chance of coming from the Ditto and a 20% chance of coming from the Archen.

No need to release it if you like it, just don't use it online.
Yeah but it was hatched and had a different OT from even the one and a Johto ball. I mean, that's a pretty whack hack. Wouldn't trust it in my game. I did fight it locally though, and it's not really overly powerful from what I can tell.

I just wanted to come in here and say, I have no idea what EV training or Max Stats breeding is. But I have a Dragonite I just imported to Pokemon Black from my Soulsilver. He punches the shit out of everyone. OHKO's err'body and they mommas. Bitches don't know about my Outrage.

I'm pretty sure using 2 power items just means that it has a 50/50 chance of inheriting one or the other, plus the normal inheritance chance, meaning that inheriting both is about as likely as using just one item

A deadline extension would probably be good. You could always see if anyone in SE++ is interested, too.

I prefer Scald, for the burn, but you won't be OHKO very much at that power.
Getting sick of Frillish thats for sure.
5 minutes waiting for it to use Stealth Rock so Smeargle could steal it.
I get to the Daycare and finally notice the Smeargle's sex: female. FUCK!
