How do stat increasing items work?
I fed a pokemon 'Power Lunch A' from a Deli on my Join Avenue which was supposed to increase it's base HP but didn't appear to. Same with calcium not increasing special attack. The pokemon was traded if that make a difference. Do I have to level up the pokemon after giving it the item for a greater increase in a given stat or something?

The degree of stat increase from vitamins scales with the Pokemon's level. The actual mechanics are obscure and obnoxious, but I think the cap is +63 points on any two stats, at level 100. So it will take a great deal of levelling before the impact is clear.
Was just wondering, would anyone have an extra Ralts they have taking up space they no longer want? I would most definitely take it off your hands!
Don't have much to give, but maybe I can offer a back rub?
I bred Raltses for Synchronize purposes back in Diamond, so I have boxes and boxes of them. Do you have any preferences in terms of gender, nature, ability, or nickname? I don't have spares of every combination, of course, but I can probably at least get close.

The result seems clean enough, at least. It's nice to have something that will scale regardless of the level.
I wish that they'd just give in and let you see all of those stats, though I suppose it might result in unnecessary IV anxiety during the main game. Maybe have a stat page unlock after the postgame.

My problem is more stuff like how there's a max of 255 EVs per stat and 510 total but they're only useful in multiples of four. There's two left over! I want to be able to do something with them. Those two worthless EVs haunt my dreams.
Yes, and unless you're actually counting the points, some of them will be wasted by filling a stat when the maximal benefit is at almost full.
I like EVs, but that is some wonky shit.
However! They are improving the mechanics. Slowly, softly, slowly. EVs now no longer require level-up to take effect. So you don't need to fear Lv 100 anymore.

Yeah, they used to stop gaining EVs if the poké reached level 100. I'm glad they got rid of that. There was only one pokémon able to gain EVs at level 100 on gen 3, and that was Deoxys, for some reason.

They're not worthless. You put them elsewhere. 4 EVS can make a difference in a skill. Or, even better, don't make out the stats. Have 160 in one stat maybe. You don't HAVE to have a stat maximised in EVS to have a well-trained pokemon. In fact, sometimes putting that many EVS in one stat is a waste in itself.

A dark-type in the very first area seemed cool until I realized that it didn't learn a dark-type attack until level 15. And it's weaker than a STAB Tackle, let alone Hyper Fang or Takedown or whatever other stuff everyone else has by then.
Oh man, this is hilarious. Herdier learns Crunch at 24. Liepard, even with STAB, can't outdamage that with a dark attack until level 43.
I mean I am just taking on the first gym now so I was trying to get my level 4-6 freshly caught pokemon up to level 9. He could barely take on a level 2.

Looking it up, Liepard also seems much worse than Stoutland statwise, so there's no excuse that you're supposed to use TMs to give it more variety.

Learning to appreciate stall tactics.
This bulky mandibuzz I bred with roost and toxic just saved my ass in the PWT world leaders tournament.
Really loving the extended range of stuff for me to get pissed at compared to BW1. Throwing my DS against the wall isn't just for Battle Subway losses anymore.
No, really though, I do love the PWT. Nostalgia joy ride in my veins

Catch five Lilipups, teach them Crunch, go to the move deleter and remove all of their other attacks, and then put Liepard in front with Assist. It's the perfect plan!
Yeah, even the Entree itself throws orbs after you if you perform even a little better than strictly required. Some of those powers are well worth what they cost.

Can't seem to PM you. Either way, I managed to score a Kirlia, and that will do just fine for what I need. I appreciate the help though! If there is anything you ever need, just ask and I shall try!

They're useful. You get to keep everything you're collecting! Free stuff! And you get Pass Powers. More free stuff!
Yes, Liepard sucks.
A lot.
Aww, N's Sigilyph, why do you have a mediocre nature?
