So I'm in need of a few historical maps that show the growth of cities like Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and one or two others. Unfortunantly my google-fo is failing me so if anyone has good leads for these cities in the early 1800s to 1865 I will have your net babies.

National Geographic does tons of maps and always has. Stack archive of those anywhere nearby?

EDIT: May not go that far back in time though.

I'd look for books on the history of those cities. Or hit up a library at your university or college, since I'm assuming thats what you're doing this for?

You could also looks for books on the history of American Urban Planning.

Thats pretty much my only option at the moment yes. Unfortunantly I don't have a scanner at the moment and this needs to get into a document.

This does not help you specifically, but check out their WWII maps:

It's awesome if you like learning about WWII.

Somewhere at your school there exists a scanner that you can use. I promise. It's likely there is one in the library. If not, check various computer labs.

Granted, if the maps you need are in books that aren't at the library, you'll have to hope there is one in the library. But again, I can almost guarantee there is.

Yeah, seconded. And if theres not a scanner, theres sure as shit a photo copier that you can use to make copies and take somewhere to get scanned, like your campus copy shop or computer lab.

You can poke around the American Planning Association website, there might be a link or something there you can use:

Found some half decent images and a very nice scanner that also does slide and negatives (remember those?) at the library where the media dudes are trying to convice women to watch a movie about male hookers called hunter white or something like that. Unless someone wants to make this into a thread about scanners it can be locked.
