    I hate red tape :-/

And that someone either played the red tape or an eng card into that check.

The fact that Red Tape and Engineering are both in the check is bothersome because it points to Tory, Gaeta, and me as the ones who have drawn either of those colors :S

Well, that's bothersome. Fortunately, since one of the "negative" cards contributed by us was either Politics - Red Tape or Engineering - Scientific Research, I think I can absolve myself to you all if I make the correct choices between now and my turn.

Namely, I can prove that I still have my one Politics and one Eng cards that I just drew on my last turn.

Well, at least we know there's a Cylon definitely in play, and the fact that Starbuck/Helo are most likely clean.

Helo heads over to Colonial One and has a very unfortunate run-in with a Westerlund News reporter who mercilessly criticizes his leadership. D'Anna is Antagonistic.

Helo, you must discard 3 skill cards or draw two trauma tokens.

Helo flattens D'Anna and has to spend a bit of time covering it up. Luckily he gets some support from one of Galactica's other pilots.

Benevolent Result: Gifted Raptor Pilot - Gain 1 fuel.
Antagonistic Result: Kill Them All! - Draw 1 trauma token and discard 1 random skill card.

Helo sticks around to chat with the reporters. It begins well, but Helo is quickly blamed for the destruction of two civilian ships and a vicious assault on a reporter. Admiral Helo has no choice but to preside over the trial of himself.

    A Verdict of Guilty

    Admiral Chooses
The current player is executed and the Admiral discards 3 Skill Cards.
    OR
    Damage Galactica twice
    (activate basestars)
    (jump prep)

Have you reached a verdict, Admiral?

    That is horrible.

So Helo, are you willing to sentence yourself to death to avoid putting us up to 4 total damage?

Engineering-types, how able are you to repair things if we take the damage?

Since we know the Admiral is most likely human at this point, I would hate to have him executed and become a Cylon.

However, we do have a decent amount of people who draw blue and should have time to repair the locations before the Cylons come back/sleeper, so the second one seems better to me.

I should have stayed on Caprica.

Really leaning towards the option where I don't get executed, although this might not be a bad time for Secret Destiny.

We're about to get new loyalty cards as of next jump... but yeah, if we have access to a large pool of repair cards we can spend the rest of this round cleaning things up, I guess.

e- or wait, should I discard this crisis and try another using my OPG?

  • iamtheaznmaniamtheaznman Registered User regular
    edited May 2011
@Starbuck: True to the new loyalty. But at least Helo will pick a good destination for that jump.

As for your OPG, up to you, although I normally like to save OPGs to win or lose crisis at the endgame.

  • El SkidEl Skid The frozen white northRegistered User regular

True. We're unlikely to get a worse overall crisis, but in the endgame we might run across a win-or-lose crisis I can remove. Plus this at least gives us jump prep, so I don't think I will use my OPG here, unless persuaded otherwise.

We're also going to get another Basestar following us from this one, and it's hard to imagine a worse card coming up. But it is your call.

I'm thinking both damage on Galactica, because otherwise we get perilously close to losing Pegasus.

Keep in mind that this crisis, right now, is just about as bad as it gets. Secret Destiny is useful to bypass a win-or-lose crisis at the end of the game, but, having to go through crises like this one is what brings us to win-or-lose situations.

The first option will likely lose us a Morale and either cause Helo to come back with no cards in his hand (if he comes back as the Admiral) or deplete my hand (if he doesn't). It might also cause Helo to come back as a Cylon, which would suck since we're somewhat of the opinion that he is currently clean.

The second option could damage Fuel or send multiple people to Sickbay and tie up our Repairs for a long time. We still haven't gotten any Mark VIIs repaired.

Either option will also add a second Basestar to the Cylon Fleet board.

Should you choose the second option, I do have a Repair... but I'd rather see this crisis just go away.

The first option is guaranteed to be terrible (especially for me), the second option is fixable in theory. Assuming that Starbuck isn't going to use Secret Destiny (which I still think is the right thing to do here) I'm going to go with the second option.

Man, horrible doesn't even begin to cover it.

I should also add that I can vouch for our admiral's humanity at this point, and an execution would possibly result in a worse loyalty card for him. If that helps your decision any, Starbuck.

I guess it all comes down to jump prep.

Admiral, I'm willing to accept your decision, whatever it is- I know this is a bad crisis all around... but it has jump prep, at least. Not going to OPG at this time, since even a relatively okay crisis without jump prep will be bad.
