    That should be 19-17. Don't confuse the poor lad with your typos! :P

    Also, I'm just pulling this out of my ass, but I'd assume the number don't switch when the players swap table sides (which I believe happens after each game in the match). Would be kinda awkward.

    I would also assume that. Think of the numbers as relating to where the rest of the team are sitting as opposed to the players.

    I guess it's more straightforward than I was thinking. Still may be hard to follow for me. For David's match I thought he was winning up until the end and then oh nope turns out not.

    Scott and Erika were adorable though. I want more adventures of Kurtz and Straub, now with their adopted daughter.

    I liked that they showed extended volleys of each of the players, it really gave you a feel for everyone's different play style.

    Also nice to see that Sage is still rocking his epic beard.

    So, Jonty had Bungie build a ping-pong dungeon just to beat Khoo?
    This is a fantastic use of Halo profits, really the only acceptable investment.

    I thought that's how Khoo held it

    I'll have to look again.

    e: I stand corrected.

    Khoo's hands move so fast it's hard to see.

    Yeah, you need to find slow-mo parts of the video to see it.

    Two things: As said, the music was surprisingly good this episode. I too do not typically care for 8-bit as a music style outside of games, but the one played during Jerry's round really caught my attention.

    Secondly, I don't give a shit about ping pong and every goddamn time I watch one of these I want to go out and try to get my friends to play ping pong.

    And then I think "There is no way I'd get that good at it."

    You'd be surprised how quickly you can pick it up. Any background in racquet sports helps cut down on the early stumbling, but just by playing a lot, and especially against people who are better / play differently than you, you can get competitively good pretty fast.

    And it's not a very expensive hobby to pick up at the entry level: a cheap, decent table is about $200 and you can get a fair starter bat for between $25 and $50. Find a couple friends to split the cost and it's the price of an evening out in a mid-size city.

    So you should learn to play ping pong, and then you should get good at it, because it's very fun.

    Yeah, I don't have time to play a lot. I wouldn't make the time. So it would never happen.

    Also, a table is 200 bucks, but a bigger apartment with room for a table is much more.

    But mainly, I just don't have the time to invest in it.

    I kinda remembered how it happened, then I went back to look it up and make sure.

    But I also open spoiler tags for movies and shows I haven't seen yet, so I probably would have looked it up even if I didn't remember seeing it on Twitter back then.
    Like this one.
    But if it hadn't gone down as it did, would they even be releasing it as a PATV episode instead of just doing something else?

    Psh, the Khoo/Jonty feed was okay, but the Dark Jerry feed was the best.

    @TychoBrahe: I WILL EAT YOUR CHILDREN.

    @ThatOneGuy: Erm...

    @TychoBrahe: I WILL LODGE THIS BALL DEEP IN YOUR OCCIPITAL LOBE, THEN PRY IT FROM YOUR BLEEDING SKULL.

    @ThatOneGuy: That seems unsporting.

    @TychoBrahe: I WILL MAKE YOU TASTE THE TABLE WITH MY BOOT HEEL. BEFORE THIS MATCH IS DONE, YOU SHALL BEG FOR DEATH.

    @ThatOneGuy: Hey, I won!

    This was exciting to read on Twitter. I can't wait to see the video. :)

    Every time I see these ping pong episodes I start thinking about buying a new table and paddle. This time I started thinking of starting up my own ping pong center so I could find more people to play. :P

    I think Khoo's the only one that uses penhold, which doesn't surprise me because it's been in decline as a style for quite some time. Especially outside of Asia. I'd love to learn it, but finding a cheap penhold to learn on is not easy. If I were to spend that much on a new paddle I'd just buy a new shakehand for myself.

    ~That guy playing Jerry didn't move. That was creepy as hell. Like he had some kind of bullet time going on and was just batting the balls aside like irritating insects while Jerry darted about the table like a man possessed.

    That's pretty much the best tactic in ping pong (or tennis, or squash, or any related sport), as I understand it. Make your opponent dash about like crazy to tire him out and provide more openings.

    This is sort of true, but that guy was stationary. You want to be on your toes, so that if you can swing around and get a good smash and so forth. Of course you don't want to get caught out of position either, but standing still is not the best strategy in any of these games.

    And I am not ashamed to say I am rooting for Bungee hard, and feel kinda vindicated that Jerry lost his game. Last round he won on a very lucky shot and now he lost on one. Seems pretty fitting. Though their net seems to be waaaay too lax, those balls just forced their way over it seemed.

    Also: In this type of roster, if you want to win, would it not make more sense to put your best player on slot 4, your second best on slot 5, your third best on slot 6 and fourth best at slot 7. This way, assuming the teams are decently matched, you should have good odds of winning 4 matches, which is all you need. Going for the linear decrease means if they have just a veeeery slight edge on you, you can lose all seven matches.

    The 1-7 has to be your best to worst - doing otherwise is called stacking the roster and it isn't allowed.

    If you buy a table that hinges in the middle (as some are known to do), you can close it 90 degrees and pop it up against a wall. Makes for a great practice surface (since the net will more or less be resting against the wall along with half the table).
