Help ON: AOL guest pass
That_GuyI don't wanna be that guyRegistered Userregular
I am currently at work and trying to reproduce a known issue with AOL and our (Cingualr's) data network. What I am looking for is an AOL guest pass to use for the next few hours.
I know this is kind of "gray area" as far as the rules go, but if someone could provide this to me I would be grateful.
On a related request: I accidentally misspelled my AIM password when I was changing it, now I need to reset it but the AOL system doesn't want any of it, any tips?
You could just sign up for a quick trial with your CC# and cancel it.
Never ever ever ever do this. Google something like "AOL cancel horror stories" for details.
If you keep just saying "Cancel" over and over again they'll cancel it.
In my experience, you have to keep saying "cancel" over and over again to get them to tell you that it's cancelled. Then they'll cancel the service and carry on billing you, so you'll phone them up again and they'll put you on hold for forty minutes, then tell you that it was an error and the money will be returned.
Protip: It won't.
They'll continue billing you, so you'll block the payment at your bank. Then when you phone them they'll insist that nothing can be done until you make the payments that you blocked. You'll tell them to go fuck themselves, and they'll send out debt collectors. Had to get a lawyer and go to court to make them stop. Happened to my Girlfriend's Mother, who had left the country and had to fly back to the UK from Africa to sort this out (she happened to be back in the country for a couple of weeks anyway, but we didn't tell anyone that, and got the cost of the flights awarded as costs. Amusingly, the cost of the flights alone was more than the total amount AOL had ever billed her for).

It was quite amusing.
