Certain fields in topics remain constant even after the topic has been altered.
For example, pressing "Reply" (not "Quote") will generate the ORIGINAL topic title for the reply. So if I make a thread called "X" and then later on I edit the first post to have the title "Y", people who press "Reply" will reply with title "RE: X" instead of "RE: Y". That doesn't really matter, but I think it's symptomatic of a larger issue.
More significantly, and I once got temp-banned by ActifBlue because of this, if you post in a Moved thread, and then in the "post submitted" screen, you click "Return To Forum," it takes you to the ORIGINAL forum for that thread. So when bonedaddy moved the "Monday, Monday, Monday" thread to SE++ from H/A, I posted in it, then clicked "Return To Forum," and then found myself in H/A, even though I had been browsing SE++. Basically I got temp-banned one time for acting like I was in SE++ when I didn't realize I had been involuntarily moved to H/A. I think this is a bug dealing with the original post record not being affected by certain types of edits, including title edits and moves to other forums.

I've been trying to reach you, but your extension cord doesn't reach that far.
Part one I don't really care about. It works as it should, when you reply to a post, it generates "Re: whatever that POST was", not "Re: whatever the topic is".
Part two is interesting, but not a pressing issue. If I'm ever looking at the code for the "Return to Forum" link, I'll see if I might bother myself to remember to see why it does that.
That's easy. If this were my code, I would want someone to point it out to me. Even if it's not a crippling "OH NOES THE CLOCKS ARE WRONG NOBODY CAN POST" issue, it's something that doesn't work the way it should. When I reply to a thread in Forum X, and I say "return to forum," I should go back to Forum X, not Forum Y Where The Thread Was First Made But Now It's Not There Anymore.
Christ. It's not like I came in here whining about how this forum sucks because of some tiny bug. But as a programmer, it's nice to know these things. And I'll go further to say that sometimes the big bugs, the ones that really matter, are fixed when the programmer recalls some little thing that wasn't a big enough deal to fix, but that was clearly symptomatic of a larger issue. Those little clues often help in unravelling the more serious problems.
Not that that really has anything to do with the price of tea in China, but still....
Yeah, that's what it was.
It wasn't that the Sticky had been moved, it's that something else had been moved, I posted in that, then I went "WTF new sticky?" and posted in there.
And to be fair, that baby definitely deserved a stab in the face.
Title nazi.

I am betrayed.
I didn't want to tell you.
I'm sorry it had to come to this.

I'm all hot and bothered now.

When you click on a Moved thread, you are now in a different forum. The forum system doesn't keep such close track of your activities to know where you were last, and I'm not going to program that sort of memory into it.
At the top and bottom of the page you are looking at before you hit the "Post Reply" button, there will be links which look like:
Forum Index » Help / Advice Forum
Also, at the top of the page where you are typing your reply, the same links will appear.
The one thing I can look into doing is have the text say "Click here to return to the "xxx" forum" instead of just "Click here to return", but that is the best you are going to get.
