i tried to do some writing samples for the tl job but the only ones i can successfully write are bitter, angry and mocking prominent people in the community or races in general.
I have too much spite in me :[
A complete series of character assassinations would be HILARIOUS.
Im not sure they were actually funny, more just pointing out how much of a hypocrite day9 is, why no-one should look up to Artosis and why Tastosis is actually hurting esports in general.
I could go on for days buyt 90% of the sc2 programing community are pieces of shit and I feel a little sick inside when Idra wins anything.
Possibly, its horrible feeling im the only one who is right about the sc2 community while others ignore the terrible nature of its "leaders", everyone from Incontrol, to Idra to Catz to Qxc with very few exceptions inbetween are, by and large, complete and total jerks.

Not that I'm saying you are a jerk. But I think you need chill out about the whole scene.
Well again possibly, its not like i spend ages thinking about it anything it was just the only thing i could write freely about when i challenged myself to write about sc2. Its not like i harbour huge grudges or going around looking for excuses to hate people or anything, its just a compendium of the experiences ive had since i started watching sc2 since beta. I dont watch any of these guys streams anymore, or tournaments for that matter, i dont anger myself with it unless i talk about it and i dont talk about it because it angers me . So really until someone mentioned writing for gosu.com (sp?) i hadnt really thought about it for a while and wont in the future i imagine.

I kind of feel that without hearing my direct reasons on the above mentioned its kinda silly to label me as anything other than slightly angry maybe, i have reasons, its not blind hatred or anything, i dont dislike the way they look or anything like that. Alot of it has to come down to homophobia (on their parts) hypocracy and their general treatment of people.

So I totally didn't forget to do the Diary today. I just streamed some 2v2s with a friend as a fun distraction (plus I had to work late, so I really didn't have time to do it for reals).
You can check it out on my stream, justin.tv/chaoshat, or wait until tomorrow when I'll cut it up and put the highlights on youtube or something.

Hey gretorp is alright, there are good people in the community but i dont think day9 is one of them, Sheth, Machine, Whitera and a decent number of other pro gramers are decent folks or so they come across.

well its not so much that I don't still think that most of the things Terran can do to a Protoss player are bullshit and that Terran players who do them deserve to die...
because i still think that about multi pronged marauder drops and nexus snipes (STOP SNIPING OUR IMPORTANT BUILDINGS)

if you're talking about the top-tier guys, pretty much, in any competitive sport, they're all assholes. A genuinely decent guy playing a pro-sport is a rarity.
It goes with the job, hell, you're THE BEST IN THE WORLD at something, if that doesnt stroke your ego, you might not be human. So yeh, the top tier of any gaming community looks down on the little folk, and take undue priviledges with their fame.
It's unfortunately hard-wired. The crazy competitiveness, the need to put on a "show", and not just play games.
You've got to be a little sociopathic to convince yourself that you can be the best in the world at something (it's a bit of a break from "reality"), and if you achieve it, you prbly will go full-blown sociopath. It's around all the top tiers, and the more famous, the bigger the assholish behavior. Look at Ben Rapistburger. He's a Pro QB who's won a superbowl. I'm sure in his mind that of course that woman wanted to screw him in the bathroom, I mean, who wouldn't? he's Ben R! (please don't read this as supporting Ben in this instance)
That's the mindset, and the bigger the fame, the brighter your star, the bigger the sociopathic behavior is.
It doesn't excuse it. Some of it is a necessary psychological defense mechanism, of course the other guy sucked even though he won, you're iDra! There can't be anyone in the world that's better than you, and you need to keep that mindset so that past losses don't haunt future games.
If you're tired of "the community", you have to remember that the most vocal, obnoxious people are prbly 14 yrs old, social outcasts, and playing internet tough guy, trying to imitate the pros. That, plus the anonymity of the internet, gives you license to be an ass. That, however, is just the intertubes, and business as usual.
At the heart of this - remember that SC2 is just a game, and unless you're planning on making a living off of it, try to keep it in that context. A game, that you play for entertainment and competitive comraderie. Ignore the idiots and just enjoy the game.
more just pointing out how much of a hypocrite day9 is, why no-one should look up to Artosis and why Tastosis is actually hurting esports in general.
I could go on for days buyt 90% of the sc2 programing community are pieces of shit and I feel a little sick inside when Idra wins anything.
I am genuinely interested in hearing your thoughts on these issues. Would you be willing to write up a post or go on vent to talk about it or something? I'm just really curious about how you come to these points. Even if you spoiler tag it with a "For Jaef only" or PM it to me or something.
I could understand a severe dislike for people like Idra/Catz/Incontrol because of how they operate as people and also within the community, but the Plotts and Stemkoski have me scratchin' my head.
It's no secret a lot of the pros can be dicks sometimes, but I am honestly curious about your opinions on Day9/Tastosis, ZM. I can imagine that their humor isn't for everyone and they might not get everything right about the game, but generally they all seem to be relatively knowledgeable, entertaining and non-horrible human beings. What makes you think they are bad for the game?

Terran players -
how do you set up your hotkeys?
I'm curious.
Currently I have OCs on 5, barracks/factories/starports on 4 (tab between them to produce), and 1-3 for Army, with usually 1 being my bio, 2 being my air units (if the air units are vikings, I hotkey my medivacs to 1 with my bio, otherwise 2 is medivacs), and 3 is tanks if I have them, support units if I don't have tanks.
Does anyone have any improvements? bearing in mind its uncomfortable for me to reach past 5 on the keyboard.
On a similar note, any Terrans have any ideas on how to handle producing the same unit out of 6+ barracks lategame without accidentally over-queuing? Mid-lategame when I'm producing 8 marauders at once, I find it difficult to hit the key precisely 8 times, so far the only way I've found to deal with it is either slowing down so much that it takes far too much time to complete the production commands, or just accepting that I might overqueue a few units every now and then and just making sure I don't do it TOO badly.

I use the exact same setup dhal, although I manually control tanks rather than hotkeying (rarely moving all my tanks somewhere that my whole army isn't going, and siege/resiege needs to be done individually anyway) but I do use 6 for upgrades. rarely need to reach it. 3 is for ghosts if I have em, or drops/harassing helions/scouting reaper etc.
on the overqueueing, I try to count when I'm spamming the marine/marauder/whatever key. best I can offer.

Overqueueing late game is not the horrible mistake that it is early on. If it's not delaying important steps when all that's really left is to expand because you're running out of mineral patches and finish upgrades you can have a couple extra queued up. In fact this can be a good idea with marines and other units that produce quickly so your focus isn't too scattered. Otherwise just take it a bit slower
Hotkeys are whatever. I have a general hotkey with EVERY building that should be producing units or upgrades so I can see at a glance if my macro is falling behind. Its what I usually have selected. I can't give much better advice because I like using 6-10 as well because my lesser mind likes having 2 hands on the keyboard when im producing

you don't know how good you have it as a Protoss with warpgates until you don't have them anymore
Having a pre-set hotkey that does not require me to use one of my precious slots from 1-5 on them, and also cannot over-queue no matter how hard I try, is a pair of blessings that Protoss get that are extremely taken for granted.

that's smart
it also helps with rapidly sieging tanks individually.
select your group of tanks, issue a move command, then shift-queue a siege command. then let go of shift, deselect one of your tanks by clicking on the wireframe selection box, and repeat the procedure at your next planned siege spot.
I find this easier than scrolling back to my tanks for each siege position, and it lets you set up commands for your tanks to cross the whole map and execute, then you can manually control the marines the whole way.
I use a similar tactic to put workers in gas once the geysers are done. I select 6 workers (4 as Terran because of the 1 SCV constructing the refinery), issue a command to go to one geyser, deselect half of them and send the remainder to the other.

I think that's called cloning. it's a great way to do things I just never think to in-game. may have to try and make that adjustment though, especially for tanks it seems very smart.
The unstimmed marine attack cooldown corresponds perfectly to a beat of 92 BPM (if using stop micro, the beat should sound on every time you press Stop). If you run it at 184 BPM, you will alternate each beat with a Stop command or a move command. Same goes for if you use move/attackmove to stutterstep, you'll have a move command on one beat and an attackmove on your second.
I don't have the BPM figures for other units attack cooldowns, but they can be easily worked out just by turning on the metronome while the unit is standing still attacking something and experimenting with the speed of the metronome.
Then I just go into a unit tester and have the marine stop-start around a building of some sort while keeping in time with the beat. Can help to do it with your eyes closed too, to start with. helps with following the beat if you find yourself losing the beat. After a while you can turn off the metronome and see if you can keep the rythmn without it.
That trick's also great for breaking off individual units from your main army to go occupy watch towers, scout for expos, etc.
In which case you'd want to reset your control group immediately to remove the units you just split off, otherwise they'll come running back as soon as you move the main army again.
