Man Eats his 25000th Big Mac, is Celebrated for it
1) are entertaining
2) intelligently and clearly engage their subject matter
3) utilize cinematic elements or techniques to a particular end related to the content, explicit or implicit, of the film (viz. unify form and content)
or maybe that's great films, and good films do two out of three? it's all pretty nebulous, obviously
I find it very hard to "turn my brain off" when watching movies, and as a result I don't really enjoy that many films. I don't feel (much) poorer for it, frankly, because I can enjoy really good movies on several levels instead of just "Man do you remember that part in The Dark Knight where he does that thing? That was so badass!"
If you watched a movie and enjoyed it, congratulations! You just watched a good movie.
If you watched a movie and didn't enjoy it, then the movie can completely cease to exist if you want it to, and never have to think about it again, thus freeing brain space to think about good movies (see above)

are you really going to like, bust out a spreadsheet of all the movies in theaters at the time just to try to prove that this dude is wrong for liking Scott Pilgrim

then like, what's the point of you listing all your criteria for a good film back there, and trying to figure out what else was in theaters at the time?
it seemed like a leadup to you being all "but this film better fit these criteria than Scott Pilgrim blah blah"
it's just like, alright? I'm not jumping in line to defend that movie but this debate has happened many a time

the point of me listing my criteria is that someone asked me what my criteria were
the point of trying to figure out what else was in theaters is because I'm now legitimately curious if (m)any good films came out in 2010
we're way past scott pilgrim, that was a dozen pages ago

not really sure what you're going for here
it was entertaining lights and colors and sounds
My girlfriend and I went and saw it and it was def better than like 90% of the bullshit that was in theaters at the same time.
don't eat at mcdonalds

was anything in theaters then any good? I'd need to see a big list or something
uh hm well
I guess I think "good" films:
1) are entertaining
2) intelligently and clearly engage their subject matter
3) utilize cinematic elements or techniques to a particular end related to the content, explicit or implicit, of the film (viz. unify form and content)
or maybe that's great films, and good films do two out of three? it's all pretty nebulous, obviously
it might satisfy all three criteria, I dunno
This measures how beat up he gets and how quickly.
Like the expendables, not a good bruce willis film at all. He doesn't even get punched.
*laughs; looks at friends expectantly*
