Cross Country Moving

I'm a young, fresh out of college guy with a few job prospects and a desire to enter the gaming industry. However, I've run into a problem: I'm on the East Coast. Now, I'm aware that there are options here to pursue, but I've made it a long term goal of mine to somehow get to Seattle, where there are a good number of companies as well as a group of my friends so I'll have something of a support network.

Anyway, though, it's a long ways off I realized I have absolutely no idea what to expect from moving cross country. Cost is the main issue. Flying back and forth for interviews does not seem economical, so at the moment it seems I will have to move without a job lined up. I have friends I may be able to share a place with, but I'm not going to rely on that being a certainty.

So, at the behest of a friend on these forums, I chose to post here. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any troubles I should look for, suggested routes to take or ways to move? I have no preferences as to how it would happen: Driving cross country, or flying and shipping my car. Moving van, trailer, what have you. I simply wish to know what to expect.

Thank you kindly in advance for any advice you can give me.

I assume the easiest and least expensive would be to simply load up your car and head West, sleeping in your car, and limiting the amount of times you stop.

I live about an hour from Seattle and have been a Washington resident for my entire life. I also have game testing experience. If you really want to get started in the industry, this is a good place to do it.
