    Thirty years.

Yeah, the Kree have been developed over the decades to have been very prolific in spreading their genetic modifications around the universe because they are dead-ended. So it seems fair the the psycho-magnetron can just be some device that NASA finds (or we simplify and keep her Air Force). This way she gets the so-called generic powerset that isn't without some of her older powers like the seventh sense precognition or the fact that it inserted Kree warrior training into her DNA somehow when she got Mar-Vell's combined with her own. It's unnecessary since she should have a pretty strong combat skill set already.

Just when you thought you were going to go broke with DC Comics getting further into shenanigans with LEGO, now word out of San Diego Comic-Con indicates that they’re also going to be working with Marvel Comics with a line

    Dear LEGO:

DCAU Watchtower set, please. At least as big as your huge Star Wars sets.

    Thank you.

  • DMACDMAC Come at me, bro! Moderator mod
It really is too bad that they don't just do batches of the minifigs as sets. I don't really have the space for vehicle sets.

  • TomantaTomanta Registered User regular
They are doing collectible minifig packs that are selling fairly well. I think they would be pretty foolish not to give their superhero licenses the same treatment.

They do sometimes do batches of minifigs, too, but I don't really anticipate any army packs here.

It was a joke (I don't know if she could play serious anyway). She would always talk about her swimsuit costume riding up on her bajingo, and Monica Rambeau could be played by Carla. Dr. Cox would be Henry Gyrich, can you see it being the best?

So, I saw the Amazing Spider-man trailer and...I was really disappointed. Not only does it seem like a hefty retread of the origin story, but Peter Parker seems too Twilight-moody and not nearly nerdy enough. When half the trailer involves the origin story, it gives the impression that half the movie is going to be the origin story as well, and that frankly seems like a snooze. Just because you got Martin Sheen to play Uncle Ben doesn't mean you have to give him more screen time.

There was also nothing about the trailer that really excited me. The parkour 1st person viewpoint of Spider-man seems kind of lame; I think Spider-man is best portrayed when you can see his acrobatics in the 3rd person. I was also disappointed that there were no previews of the Lizard, which I believe is the main villain. I wanted to see a raptor in a lab coat gosh darn it, and Spider-man duking it out with him in the sewers of New York.

i'm not saying the movie is gonna be lame, but i thought the trailer was just...boring. everyone i know was going crazy for it, but nothing happens. "something something batman all legends must end" bane in a mask he stole right out of mortal kombat, then batman hopping in the rain for one second.

Spider-Man feels like an actual trailer. TDKR does not.

The difference being that Spider-Man was shot ages ago, while TDKR is still shooting presently. It's kind of amazing that we have a TDKR teaser at all, really.

I'm annoyed that apparently videogames are doubledipping now, but that roster kicks ass. Pretty much the characters people seemed to put in their wish list, at least on the Marvel end.

As for the Spidey trailer, I really don't like that it seems just a retread. Also, if it is a full reboot, I'm curious how they're going to portray Connors/The Lizard. To me he seems to be a villain that would work best in tangent with someone else, if only because he doesn't seem like he can create a big emotional foil on screen for Spidey.

I'm also wondering if we're getting a Mirror's Edge like game for it. That could be good.

Capcom has been double dipping since the early nineties, with 300 million versions of Street Fighter II.

Other Ms. Marvel thoughts I had: Ali Larter or Elizabeth Mitchell.

Also the first Avengers poster is out. Keep in mind, it is a TEASER. Designed to TEASE.

It has the official website on it as well, which right now doesn't have much on it.

I think the Lizard works if you see it as the contrast to getting powers and letting it consume you to become a monster or personal gain, evil essentially. Whereas Peter will learn... with great power comes great responsibility.

It doesn't seem to make sense to compare the two videos as equals...

The Amazing Spiderman video clocks in at 2:30 so it qualifies as a trailer. The TDKR clocks in at under a minute (with only half being new stuff) so it's squarely in teaser territory.

As for their respective qualities, I really really wish they weren't rehashing the origin story for Spiderman. The movie may or may not be good (I hope it will be) but I don't want two hours of buildup & learning to use new powers.

And I liked the TDKR teaser. That last scene with Batman backing away from Bane, where things did not appear to be going well at all, sold it for me.

Should I not read those 3 links (well, the Ebert review is harmless I bet) until AFTER I see Cap?

(by the way, very very angrily waiting until tomorrow to see Cap, because dispite SELLING FUCKING TICKETS ON REGAL CINEMAS OWN WEBSITE AND FANDANGO for a 2D midnight screening, my theater says there is only 3D screenings. Assholes.)

I think it would be interesting to see if there is a correlation between movies made by Warner Bros and their scores/score trending on Rotten Tomatoes. Rotten Tomatoes being owned by Warner Bros does raise some questions.

My fan boy anger is righteous!

I wish I could see Captain America, but being unemployed and having a 13 month old son puts a damper on my going out.

I saw some things I would consider to be spoilers in Ebert's review. So, caution and all that.
