My ideal take would be to have the Lizard's body constantly shift and evolve, perhaps in response to Connor's mood, so that he can have an emotive human face during more lucid moments and a full lizard face during feral fight scenes.

  • JyrenBJyrenB St. AugustineRegistered User regular
The best part of the Lizard is always the lab coat.

But even without it, there's just something off and weird about that design. I don't want to avoid a Spider-Man movie, but it seems like the sane thing to do at this point. I'm willing to at least hope a trailer will come out and blow all this weird stuff away.

I don't think that design looks terrible. I do think the lab coat would improve it, but the face looks to me like the original Ditko design for the Lizard.

Yeah, I'm fine with that Lizard if they give him a Lab Coat.

I do not like that Lizard

I get that they are going for a more human/lizard hybrid look than tradition, but I prefer my lizard looking like a straight up dinosaurman

It isn't the worst Lizard redesign I've seen but they could've done better.

Lizard design is middle of the road for me. Not great but not horrible.

Still interested in the new Spidey flick. Garfield bought himself with his speech at Comic Con (rehearsed or not) and the footage that was shown got good buzz. At least it seems we're getting a wise cracking Spider-man.

  • MunchMunch Registered User regular
If the Lizard is going to be basically human (but evil/amoral) in terms of emotion and mannerisms, I think that design is fine.

If he's going to be the traditional Lizard, who's feral and almost entirely disconnected from his humanity, I think that design's pretty bad.

Just depends what interpretation they choose to go with, I suppose.

I was hoping for the emotionless savagery feeling I got from the raptors in Jurassic Park. They're just so alien you can't pick up on their emotions, but their hisses and teethy jaws let you know they'll rend your flesh.
I admit, I was also hoping they'd go for an Alien-ish vibe with the Lizard in the sewers. Peter being hunted by a primordial killing machine in the sewers of New York... I want some big ass reptile jaws snapping at him at every turn, and the Lizard being more manuverable in the sewers than Spider-man.

The Lizard as an effect looks technically proficient. Nothing revolutionary or just amazing, like say Two-face, but not cheesy like Beast in First Class.

From an art direction I find it pretty meh. Just nothing special at all.

But if I get decent Spidy one-liners I'll deal with a meh look. Just like I'd take a sup-par X-men movie if it actual was ABOUT the gaddamn X-men.

That Lizard face looks like a Goomba face from the Super Mario Brothers movie.

    This is not a compliment.

(Though I kinda loved the SMB movie.)

Opening Sequence of "The Dark Knight Rises" Will Be Unwrapped Just in Time for the Holidays
The film's prologue will be released exclusively in select IMAX(R) 70mm film theatres.

BURBANK, Calif., Dec 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Dark Knight Rises"--the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy--is one of the most anticipated films of 2012, but moviegoers won't have to wait until next year to see the six-minute opening sequence of the film. The film's prologue will be unveiled exclusively in select 70mm IMAX(R) theatres worldwide. The announcement was made today by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The Prologue will be released in North America on December 16, and in the UK on December 21, 2011. Additional international dates vary by territory and will be announced soon.

In making the 2008 blockbuster "The Dark Knight," Nolan was the first to use IMAX(R) cameras in a major motion picture release, and, as now, audiences were given an advance look at that film's prologue months prior to the Summer 2008 opening. Nolan employed the extremely high-resolution cameras even more extensively on "The Dark Knight Rises"--including the film's prologue--to achieve unprecedented crispness and clarity and a truly immersive experience for the moviegoers.

Christopher Nolan stated, "Our experience on 'The Dark Knight' shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer."

It will be some kind of freaky stuff if the new Spiderman is better than the next Batman movie.

Is that because it was filmed in Toronto?

Funny thing is that the Houston location is in a thug location, the kind of place where people have been shot and killed after shows in the past. Art imitating life, right?

So you're saying that a little boy will be scared by the bat imagery in the movie, and will ask his parents if they can leave? And then they'll be gunned down?

And then he will need counseling to deal with his terrible loss.

And because Houston is more sprawl than city, the kid's just going to ride around in his batmobile and being too late to stop crime because of traffic.

I said this in another thread but she has nothing much on her resume so I really don't care.

I mean I know its bad for the movie to loose people but as I understand it they haven't started shooting yet. It won't end up in development hell and should work out just fine despite this and overall I've ended up happy with their changes once I saw the new guy's work(Don't screw this up ruffalo).

Now if IM3 looses its director I'll loose my shit.

Michael Bay is in final negotiations to direct a new Transformers film, insiders tell Vulture. In recent days, Bay has been assembling a cast for a long-gestating project that even predates Bay’s entry into planet-destroying, Pain and Gain, based on a three-part New Times story about the infamous “Sun Gym gang” a group of dimwitted Miami bodybuilders who kidnapped, tortured and robbed a Florida businessman but got their comeuppance when their left-for-dead victim hires a private eye to hunt them down. Insiders tell Vulture that Bay has been seeking to adapt the sordid revenge tale almost since its publication in 1999, and that it’s proving the major blandishment in getting Bay to commit to launching a new Transformers cycle. "Without Pain, there’s no tit for tat," explains one person familiar with the talks, "That’s Paramount’s leverage."'
If both deals make, we are told that Bay is likely to begin shooting Pain and Gain early almost immediately – as soon as early spring – and then pivot to a new sequence of Transformers by winter 2012. "Spielberg does this all the time," says our insider, "where you’re doing art development and visual effects tests on your next movie while you’re still shooting the current one. The beauty of Michael doing Pain and Gain is that there’s no [technical] complexity to it compared to Transformers."

Anyone want to pretend to be surprised?

I just can't believe that he would go back to the Transformers. I mean, I don't loath the movies as much as others here, but more like man....is he not bored of making this type of movies?

Also, I really wonder why they decided to go with a limited selection of movie theaters for the Batman preview. I thought for sure that Dallas would get a least one theater, but nope. Still, like someone said, it'll be on youtube soon enough.
