Yeah, honestly every vibe I have gotten is that this is going to be a legitimately "mature" (re: nuanced, complicated) take on Spider-Man rather than a comic book movie "mature" (re: dark and gritty even if it doesn't apply to the character) take. I'm sure this poster is representing just one small facet of the film.
I'm really looking forward to this. Everything I have heard so far has tickled me, while I thought all three Raimi movies were garbage.
Hmm, if it comes out in the summer, shouldn't we be getting a full length trailer pretty soon? Probably before Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?
Edit: Or possibly Tin Tin, which I guess is also being distributed by Sony now?
Listen, Spidey's origin is pretty fucking dark. It looks like they're going to do it this time around with a bit more complexity and maturity. I welcome that change.
Guess what, they already tried super light-hearted and it wasn't very good. Honestly, the level of snobbish-entitled "I could do way better than that"edness here can be infuriating at times. We've seen half a dozen pictures and a trailer. Let's wait a bit before we decide that this is the worst thing in the universe.
Read the origin of Spider-Man from back in the 60's, and the early stories after it.
It is, for it's time, dark. He's an orphan, his family is poor, he's bullied at school, his Uncle is murdered, his first true love was killed by his best friend's father, who goes insane and destroys the life of his best friend, he has to look after his old, ill aunt as well as hold down a job with a boss who doesn't give a shit about him and go to college where he has very few friends, his sacrifices for the people of New York are basically ignored and he is outright demonized by Jameson...
I mean shit, Spider-Man was the first series in which the main characters love interest was murdered by a villain. Even worse, it was Spider-Man's inexperience which killed her. That pretty much shot the Silver Age dead, right there. It just looks bright because of the art and colouring, which are fantastic and not the overly grim style we saw in things like DKR.
The whole point of Spider-Man is that the world shits on him constantly, but he keeps on truckin' because he's a hero with great power and he has to use that great power to protect people. Spider-Man is a true champion, but it's the fact that his life is so awful that makes him the example of what he represents, which is Fortitude.
The wise-cracks and so on should be in there, and they should make it funny, and it shouldn't be all "GRIM GRIM GRIM" all the time because Spider-Man does get times when he gets to succeed and win out, and those times are great, but they should open up new challenges, not just remove the old ones.
Which is exactly what I specified myself before giving my opinions based on what we've seen so far
It was in reference to your other post and the baseless assumptions you were making followed by your "ugh" which is typically an indication of distaste.
You were just the victim of my general ire towards the idea that we can prejudge an entire film based upon almost nothing at all. Nothing personal.

For the record my posts are baseless assumptions of how the movie will advertised not how the movie will really be.
Wow. That actually looks like a GI Joe movie. As compared to the first one, which looked nothing like a GI Joe movie (from the trailers, I never saw the movie).
He is pretty much a boss. A glorious, glorious boss.
And I had better luck understanding him than a lot of people seem to have had, but that's mostly after hearing other characters responding to him, and using the context of that to decode the sounds from his mouth hole. I heard maybe 3/4ths of his lines, but the longer things he said totally slipped away from me. However, what I did hear was excellent. And his voice sounds nothing like you will expect.

Wait, we're not supposed to judge a film on its trailers? Surely trailers are used to judge whether or not we'll see the film, which requires a value judgement before actually seeing the film. Am I wrong?
Did you guys see this? It's apparently a makeup test they did of an alternate Green Goblin look before they went with the more high-tech looking goblin in the first Spider-man movie. It's actually pretty impressive. I don't know it if would have worked on screen, but it's still pretty cool.
I think I saw a sculpt of that head concept a while ago, but I've never seen it in motion. It looks kind of insane, but I love it. I wish they had gone with it.
That looks amazing. But, I don't know how they would have rationalized Osborn creating a rubbery mask, to use with his high-tech glider and bodysuit. Of course, it's not like they really explained why he'd make a metal monster-mask either, aside from his apparent fixation on tribal masks.

It doesn't mean that the movie is going to Batman. In fact, the only footage of the film we've seen was very bright.

This is very bright?

who do I have to kill to make this happen

That looks really good, and Marlon Wayans isn't in it.

Looks amazing.
Putting down two banners like that makes the White House look like it became sentient. It has snake eyes (ha!)
I will also admit to the Rock's grin introducing it , could probably sell me anything tho.
Holy crap it's a Christmas miracle.
yeah
it's pretty self aware

I really want to stay positive about this movie but that quote is just weird.
No one cares about his relationship with his biological parents.
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic
Those shoes look really dumb. Also look like if they have suction pads.
Honestly, I expect the secret to be web fluid. The spy stuff doesn't make much sense if the villain is the Lizard.
Eh doesn't bother me. The head looks kinda weird though. Like the blueness of the chest makes the red look out of place.

His parents were SHIELD agents, right? That's a pretty big secret to keep.

I'm willing to bet they didn't use it since they figured it might be too scary for younger movie goers.
