i saw a bit of it on tv and thought it seemed pretty decent so i got dvds off someone and they only had season 4 and 5

im halfway through and thinking its good when jack bauer does some action stuff

but why are they trying to make him some kinda nice sensitive guy when he is not in the field

it would be better if he was always some tough guy mercenary type who doesnt give a shit about other people. the black guy seems to be better at not being a pansy every now and then

like some kids mother just got killed and i just know theres gonna be a scene of jack telling the kid and comforting as he cries all 'your mother loved you very much she did everything she could to help you'

all melodramatic and with the kid not getting beat up by jack

if i wanted melodramaction i would watch veronica mars

why does everyone on tv have to have issues

So i am watching this season and i realize if you think about the plot for more than 5 minutes you realize there isnt really a plot.

From what my friend tells me is happening, it sounds like they've made the show into a retarded contest with the viewers where they see how much "intense" stuff they can stick in before everyone realizes they don't know why they're watching any more and stops. I haven't actually seen anything past season 1, but every time he sends me an IM that says something like "Guess what, so it turns out (character of some significance) is a (terrorist/spy/robot/bomb) and Jack had to (kill/maim/rape/date) them," I'm glad I'm not watching it.

The plot is Arabs are bad people, except for the good ones. Also, prejudice is bad, but the person who you're beating up just because he's dark skinned may really be a terrorst. Also, armed and will shoot your ass dead.

Also, family sucks.

and every few episodes is basically a repeating cycle

like 'omg nukes gonna blow up in 3 hours so we gotta hurry and stop them by following some tenuous lead and then sending jack in by himself'
then they stop the nukes but the terrorists didnt actually care about the nukes because the real plan is to poison the water supply which will take a few hours to do

That was a real killer right there in Season 1. For something like 3-4 episodes you could really tell that they were all "Oh shit what do we do we're out of ideas and have to come up with something really really fast."

Starting from like 8pm onward they totally redeemed that season though, since each hour was filled with backstabbery and gunfights and twists and win.

Yeah, I too had watched season 1 when it first came out on dvd in the hopes of catching before season 2 was over. I fell just short of finishing the season when I couldn't stand anymore and lost heart in the entire show.

I haven't watched an episode since at that was what 4 years ago?

No idea what season it was, but the only 24 episode I saw had something about Jack rescuing this guy, getting into a gunfight in what seemed like a big factory complex.

He and random dude get pinned down and Jack runs out of ammo, and just as he's about to figure out what to do, all these Marines jump out of helicopters and gun down the terrorists.

I have no idea what the plot was, and Bauer was obviously pissed the Marines had stopped him beating the terrorists dead with his pistol, but it was awesome. I wish I knew which season it was.

I swear Jack Bauer just takes one clip of ammo with him, confident in the knowledge that either the terrorists will run out of ammo so he can beat them up and get suitably bloodied but triumphant, or that the cavalry will appear on time.
