Trying to install windows 7, massive issues with mobo + USB
I seem to be having some pretty big issues: I had to reformat, and am trying to reinstall windows 7. My DVD drive is apparently not up to snuff and I keep getting errors associated with the drive not reading the disc.
So I got a USB stick, threw windows 7 on it and am having an even more crazy issue. Whenever I plug in the USB stick, my computer freezes during boot up. No matter were it is in the process, the insertion of the pen drive causes a full stop. It also locks up the keyboard (USB or PS2). I have tried all kinds of things in the BIOS, to no avail.
I plugged the HD into another computer, and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately, the HD decided it was a damaged installation once I plugged it back into my main computer and can not repair itself.
I would really like to get the USB problem solved, since that would allow me to directly instal Win7. I have a XFX 780i mobo, with factory bios.
