The entirety of the matrix should never have happened because when 01 got nuked that should have been the end of it not only due to the massive nuclear bombardment but also the EMP pulses.

It's in the Animatrix. All of humanity fired all of their nukes at the only machine city, 01. Then the story says some stupid shit about "their metal bodies proved resilient to the radiation..." as if that's the only thing that happens when several hundred nukes go off. Radiation.
So... um... Why was the robot city called 01, anyway?
I could see 1, or 0, but not 01. Unless they planned on exactly two other cities, 10 and 11. And even then, seems like they'd start with 00.
