I could bring my adapter over sometime if you want. But if I did that, it would seem like a waste to not also bring over my 360 and drum kit and everything else. And invite more people.

Well they use a kit that is specially set up using samples from recording sessions so I'd assume whatever style he's adopted is inimitable by anyone without the same kit.
I doubt such a rig cannot be duplicated, though. The reality is, nobody else really needs to.

I'll be happy to do this.. once I move out of where I am right now.
I think, his left foot just replaces his missing arm? I know I read it somewhere but his feet basically make up for it. He can even do rolls like that.
He also uses an extra-long stick, so that he can achieve things like rolls between two cymbals with the extra leverage.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but here goes: we're going down to South Carolina on vacation, and I was hoping to introduce the rest of my family to Rock Band. We have the Wii version with Rock Band 1-3, as well as the Beatles, plus a ton of songs purchased and on an SD card, along with the full instrument spread. The problem is, the instruments are just way too risky to take on the plane (with the way they treat luggage, I'd be far too afraid of damage). Is there any place where we can rent instrument set-ups for Rock Band? I tried teh googles, but no luck
"Let's take a look at the scores! The girls are at the square root of Pi, while the boys are still at a crudely drawn picture of a duck. Clearly, it's anybody's game!"

How long is the vacation? It might be worth it to just ship the instruments down to the vacation place and ship them back, since the instruments are fairly hollow and not heavy they shouldn't be significantly costly to send. Might actually be cheaper than paying extra to put them on the plane..
you could pick up some cheap used ones from gamestop, then if your family loves the game, they have a set of instruments to keep.
else just return them a couple days later (some would consider this unethical though -- just preorder something so the register jockey doesn't get beat that night)
Am I going crazy, or has the vast majority of the DLC lately been from commercially successful bands, or at least well-known one-hit wonders? I kinda miss the days when the DLC would introduce us to obscure cool stuff.

This has been the theme of RB3 so far. I think it's a sound strategy of releasing more popular music to set up RB3's userbase interest in DLC first, then we'll start seeing more esoteric stuff like later in RB1/2's run.

Actually, I kinda doubt we'll ever see the esoteric stuff again, since they didn't really sell well. Maximizing profits and all that. It was pretty telling that we didn't get a PAX pack this year.
Remember that RBN is also perceived as the home base for 'esoteric' stuff. And by esoteric, I'm sure we're all hip to the fact that I mean 'unknown'.
I tend to only request generally obscure stuff because everybody else is already requesting the famous stuff. Even then, I know I'm never going to see much, if anything, of what I ask. So instead of telling them why I think it 'rocks', I take the opportunity to passive-aggressively give them shit for that. They're supposed to be music hipsters. Let them figure out why something rocks.
And yeah, unknown stuff simply doesn't sell well. And notice they don't do many albums anymore? Cherry-picking killed that pretty quickly. Well, that and picking some albums that few people gave a shit about.
Not to harp on stuff I've talked about before, but it could be the new owners are asking/requiring Harmonix to focus on stuff with the best shot at selling. We know that MTV/Viacom occasionally made their own requests/requirements to Harmonix, considering the "we won't be doing any more SpongeBob" after they got sold.
Of course this isn't limited to what's going on with Rock Band; the music industry as a whole is getting more risk-averse. Still, I just wish we got a bit more stuff from up and comers, or at least some of the more niche bands on the RB3 disk. I just saw a Primus/Flaming Lips show, and I wish we'd get more of that.
It's a kind of double-edged sword. Licensing famous tracks costs more money, but has the greater chance for massive sales success. Lesser known songs and artists are cheaper to get, but fewer people will buy them.
And every week sees plenty of second guessing and 'armchair licensing' about the songs that are chosen. We got the Beastie Boys song No Sleep 'till Brooklyn? Should've been Fight for Your Right instead!
There is always something 'better' to license. From the indie perspective, it hurts more now because they release fewer songs per week making it less likely to see an occasional hidden gem from showing up. And every now and again, an HMX employee suggests telling (band you want) about RBN. Which, probably unintentionally, is the equivalent of saying you'll stock an item but hiding it in the back.
I like famous acts, too. But I have been pretty bored with the post-RB3 DLC. Lack of funds notwithstanding.
Oh, of course. In the long run, this is the least-risky option for Harmonix. And there's really nothing wrong with famous acts; I've bought and enjoyed a fair amount of the new stuff. Still, I miss the days they were a little more adventurous and introduced me to cool crap like The Fratellis.
I like to think that when I used the suggestion feature to suggest I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts, that it was a bit of influence for getting a four pack of X instead of the standard three.
But I then have to remind myself that it was held up as an example of content 'better suited' for RBN because more than a few people were unfamiliar with X. (Except for maybe their version of Wild Thing from Major League but they still wouldn't know the name. [And, of course, none of them would ever know that bassist John Doe played Amber Waves' husband in Boogie Nights.])

EDIT: Logging out and then back in fixed it. Weird.
Guys, I really like Beatles Rock Band. That is all.
It's still my favorite. It's too bad licensing is so damn expensive for The Beatles' stuff. I would have loved to pro piano just about any of their piano tunes.

I still cry at night about the lack of Help!
Fixed. I thought I knew The Beatles. After I played BRB, I realized I knew nothing.
Yeah they took just one song on that album. Ridiculously underrepresented. No Yesterday! No I Need You! No Help!! No The Night Before! No You've Got to Hide Your Love Away!

They used to have issues like that all the time when they switched over. I guess they still do.
You 'save' eighty points. (1600-25%=1200. 1200+2(160)=1520.)
The value of 'saving' is more a personal decision.
And if I'm free, I'll join. Though the last thing I've bought is Owner of a Lonely Heart. So if you're looking for high scores on other, more recent stuff, you won't get them with me.
I'll see if I have time tonight. I've been going down the list (alpha by song) and doing the ones I feel like doing. I think I did like 4 songs in the B section which had like 20 songs. >_>
While I adore the song, you cannot sing it. Eddie Vedder doesn't even sing it the same, he makes up different words every live show, and the album version is just mumbling.

P.S. Rock Band Aide found some more songs, including the new Chili Peppers song. Which is cool.
Edit: Obvious guess is that the Chili Peppers stuff comes out on August 30th, when their new album also releases.

I want Yellow Pills by 20/20 and Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl) by Haircut 100 just to name two. And I know there is no chance they'll show up or be accepted if they do.
Here is the thread with info about the Mustang. (Today is for the 360. Tomorrow is for the PS3. And Thursday is for the Wii.)
And here is the thread with info about the DLC.
Metallica Pack 01 320 (27% off)
Blink 182 Pack 02 320 (27% off)
Lady Gaga Pack 01 400 (29% off)
Bon Jovi’s Greatest Hits Rock Band Edition 1200 (25% off)
Queen Pack 01 960 (25% off) (old version, not rb3 updates)
I'll probably grab the bon jovi pack for that price

I think if Santa would join us on Guitar, we could get SUCH HIGH SCORES.
