Warren Spector's company was recently bought by Disney. If Spector (responsible for great games)and a coder from Phoenix games (responsible for Animal Soccer) ever came into physical contact, there would no doubt be a universe-shattering explosion.

That dinosaur reminds me of one of those Land Before Time movies where one of the little cutsey dinosaurs was voiced by Michael Clarke Duncan, aka, the guy who played the Kingpin in the Daredevil movie and 'Goldeneye' in Sin city. That was all kinds of hilarious and wrong, he even had a musical number in that movie.
Well if they can't do anything about the character-design rip-offs they can at least bust 'em for the use of Kingdom Hearts elements in part of the Peter Pan boxart. I'm fairly sure that Disney and Squeenix share the copyright on that one.

After passing this thread around my department at work (not Legal, although I imagine they'll get a few lols out of it when they get in on Monday morning), someone actually used the phrase "Phoenix" to describe something which is utterly dire.
The saddest thing about this is not that these games are made, but that the publisher amassed enough investment and trust to get them sold in shops. Just think of all the ambitious game developers with games that have had all their effort poured into them for years, and who don't get to be listed on Amazon, and then think about these games, it's sick.
On the other hand, this developer/publisher is proof that you can get published on a shoestring budget (in Europe at least). Isn't that supposed to be like, really difficult?
I would love to see the sales and distribution numbers of their products. If they aren't anything else but really really low, I want to punch people.
I remember seeing these things in an Argos catalogue, years and years and years ago. Including one title, "Lord of the Jungle", that appeared to have the exact same promotional art as the Disney Tarzan movie which'd just come out.
How long before they release another franchise that, by an astonishing coincidence, happens to have a few slight similarities to an intellectual property that's already on the market? I mean frankly it's bound to happen someday considering the sheer mass of quality titles they're pumping out.
Edit: If you are wondering, the plumber is just the first result I got from a GIS of "Plumber", I imaginged that fitted the Phoenix philosophy, as did ripping of Starfi and the Kingdom Hearts art again.
